This is my first post on this site. Normally I don't do this but this place is a mess. I arrived at 11 for our 11:45 tee time. I was one of 5 groups that had to wait for carts. I was told they didn't have enough carts. I didn't tee off to well after 12:30. I guess for the cheap rate what do you expect. My journey just started and I had to wait on the third tee box for 25 minutes. It took forever to play. I was on a 5:45 pace when I drove off the course on number 15, never to return. I am surprised there are not more unhappy posts. An absolute miserable way to spend a day. Glad I wasn't on vacation.

Played on November 19th. Got a $34 rate thru Group Golfer or some similar website. rate included cart. Pro-shop staff were ok, starter was pretty good. 2 of us, paired up with a couple who had played the course. Lots of water on the course and some , especially on the Lake 9, you couldn't see. Greens were ok but slow, fairways were not bad, tee boxes were ok. The couple we played with were quite helpful in letting us know where the hidden water was, and where to place the ball. I didn't like the course much at all. You certainly cannot walk it, as there are long long distances between some greens and tees. I think it's an old Lawrence Welk resort course. Pace of play was ok, we were done in just under 4 hours which did surprise me, as it seemed much longer. I wouldn't play it again.

Was provided with a coupon for a free round. Called ahead and spoke with Blaine in the Golf Shop who told me they were closing in 2 days for winter reseeding and that the fairways were poor but that the green were "good". Good compared to what, a cow pasture? There were several greens that had DIRT areas larger than a decent sized rug one may have in their den or living room. The rest still had the same infestation of crab grass they had the last time I played here in June, 2009. Calling the fairways "hardpan" would not be doing them justice, you were basically hitting off dirt with a few weeds mixed in. I find it hard to believe this place was decent as recently as the most current reviews I read. Having played here annually since the early 1990's, I can state that the decline is one of years, not days or weeks. I have played over 30 courses total since lplaying here last summer, and NONE were in a condition even remotely comparable to this place. I played in less than 3 hours and saw exactly ONE other group out here. HORRIBLE, avoid at all costs. I feel like I was overcharged even though the green fee and cart were FREE! I would have rather payed to play a course in decent condition rather than play for free here.

Me and a couple friends played there yesterday for the first time in a few years. Heard some good things about new management. We played the $10 super twilight rate. I have always loved the layout. The course conditioning is not what it needs to be but it is much better than it was and we enjoyed our round. We were able to play 18 holes in about 3 hours. After the round we were able to grab a bite to eat and a couple of beers. It was a nice in expensive way to play golf. We will be back

Played on Sat 4-24. was very impressed with this Old School Palm Springs Golf course. Probably built in the 60's but very well kept. Many trees lining the fairways, and water on what seemed like almost every hole. No doubt you will lose some balls if you don't hit it straight. From the Teeing areas to the Greens, very well conditioned. Some challenging holes, for example #10 slightly uphill par 5 with a huge tree blocking the Green. Got out for $45.00 E-mail special, which covered 2 rounds and lunch. Talk about best bang for the buck anywhere. I have played many courses in the Desert, but for the money I would recommend this one right now.

I played this course last week and it is nothing like the desert courses It reminded me of an midwest golf club. Tree lined fairways and wall to wall grass. The golf course was in nice shape. Great views of the mountains. The pace of play was very good all in all we had a great day. It will be on my short lists of courses to play next year

Cathedral Canyon is much improved this season over previous years. The new management does of good job of keeping the course in good shape. They have abandoned the Arroyo 9 which leaves just the Lake 9 and Mountain 9. Arroyo was the weakest 9 so I think it was a good idea to focus on maintaining 18 holes.

This is a tough course....It only plays 6600 yards from the tips but you must be accurate off the tee or you will have a difficult time saving par. LOTS of water, forced carries, narrow landing areas on some holes, mature trees that come into play on many holes, and thicker rough than most of the resort courses in the area make Cathedral Canyon a challenge.

The greens are medium/fast and are in good shape but there are some unrepaired divot marks. The quality of the sand is not as good as some of the other Palm Springs area tracks but it isn't bad...many of the bunkers were wet, however.

If you don't mind a moderately challenging course this is one of the better deals in the Coachella Valley with prime time rates under $60....that is a good deal for this time of the year.
