Cathedral Canyon is under new management and the course is much improved from the last time I played here. The Arroyo 9 is gone which is probably a good choice because the Lake and Mountain 9's are much better.

The new management has improved every part of the golf experience. Customer service is better, the pace of play is good, and the course conditions (especially the greens) are vastly improved. The muddy sand traps were the only negative....Cathedral Canyon offers a much better package than they did last year.

This is a challenging course with water hazards on many holes, doglegs, and lots of trees (I wish they would trim some of these back) which punish errant shots.

For those who have had a negative experience with Cathedral Canyon in the past I would recommend giving it another try. It isn't one of the premier tracks in the Coachella Valley but for the price it is worth a play. Just bring your a game and a few extra balls.

Lake/Mountain course was in fair condition -- patchy fairways, temporary greens on a few holes. Some fairways and greens were ok but overall the course has really gone downhill.

they have let the Arroyo course go for the 2nd time this decade, it is overgrown. the greens on the Lake-Mountain courses make me think they should have just let all 3 nines go and close this place. If you drew a 10 ft. circle around any given hole, there would be at least 1000 crab grass roots they have moved down to normal green level for you to navigate. Many "greens" have brown patches, even dirt areas in one by one square ft. areas in places. And there is no need to fix a ball mark, because even with a lob wedge, I couldn't make one. With all that said, they DID putt reasonably decent for slow, bermuda greens. Sand traps and fairways are poorly maintained. This whole place is a trainwreck. I played for free courtesy of a time share presentation giveaway, and feel like I was overcharged on the green fee. Easily the worst conditioned course I have played in the last 10-15 years, they should just shut the whole place down if they can't afford the waterbill to at least keep grass on the greens.

Played super bowl sunday for $39 which is a bargain for this time of year in the Desert. My foursome played the Mountain/Lake nines. This is an older, challenging course with lots of water, mature trees, doglegs, and long par 3's. The greens are very soft and on the slow side and many have damage/bare spots. We finished in 4 hours which is great for a Sunday. Overall the conditions don't measure up to other Palm Springs area tracks but It's ok if you can play for under $50.

So-so layout meandering through condos. Tight with lots of water. Greens are fair at best. Traps very good, fairways, tee and rough above average.

Played Cathedral Canyon for next to nothing with an internet special rate. There are 3 sets of 9 holes: Mountain, Lake, and Arroyo. Lake is currently closed for overseeding, Mountain has been overseeded and is in great shape, and Arroyo will shut down soon for maintenance and seeding.

I really enjoyed the Mountain nine. It is in good shape tee to green and has an interesting layout with lots of water, mature trees, and well placed sand traps. The Arroyo nine was in terrible shape tee to green but it is due to shut down in 3 days for overseeding so I'm not going to be overly critical.

This is an older course with a different feel than most Desert golf courses. I'll come back again when Lake and Arroyo have completed their maintenance and I hope they are in the same shape as the Mountain course was today.

Played 10/10, teed off just before 9AM. got a deal @$40 (Thank goodness!) Reseed Mountain (as advertised on this site) so we played Arroyo then Lakes. Arroyo has A LOT of work being done around it, though it doesn't affect play. Pretty easy lay out until 5, sucker dog leg right, then straightens out after 6 (par 3 slight bend to the left). Lakes improves challenge starting with par 5 with lakes gaurding short right fairway and long left fairway and ends with medium long par 3 (170 yards). Arroyo is mostly open, Lakes has more water (duh!) and trees with tight fairways on several holes. The greens were atrocious, unmown and still recovering from sanding, haven't been rolled in a full season, EXTREMELY SLOW, and somehow I managed only have 26 putts (though with 2 chip-ins). The driving range was closed for overseeding, so no warm up and had to rely on muscle memory (and we all know how that is...). Over all, not a bad round in Palm Springs for $40. Wish I had vacationed two weeks earlier to play the course before they started getting ready for the fall season. And the staff was very friendly and helpful so that actually helped with the poor conditions.
