Played on Saturday morning, 2/21. Everybody had predicted heavy rains. but we went out anyway. Perfect day for golf.....greens have softened up quite a bit due to the rains, and the fairways were as lush as I've ever seen them.....perhaps they could even use a good mowing. The rough was pretty thick, so stay out of it !! We didn't get even a drizzle until the 17th hole! A wonderful time was had by all!

Well....except for this: The day turned out to be extra expensive for one of my playing partners. While we were on the course, somebody hit and ran his car in the parking lot!! Lots of driver's-side damage - and no note left. Right there in the very front part of the parking lot. Don't know what to say about this - but - be careful where you park!

The morning weather-dude on KTLA had predicted 70-mph wind gusts - I don't know if they got all *that* high, but - I'd be willing to bet there were some 50-mph gusts !! The course was empty due to the wind and all of the cancellations....but - The Goose is a forgiving course in general and can be played in any weather. Played with our Greenskeeper.org fearless leader JohnnyGK, and he pointed out something that I never really noticed before - the tee-boxes at The Goose are HUGE - and very lush. For those who like to not use a tee on par-threes, these are some of the best places to hit from I have ever seen in my 35 years of playing golf in So. Cal. Greens were dry and firm (due to the wind, I'm sure! There's no way sprinklers can keep water on the ground with winds like these!) - sand traps were pretty firm and packed....and on a windy day, rest-assured that you will be in more than one, as Goose Creek is well-bunkered. Rough was not-too-long and fairwars were as plush as you will find....I didn't have a thin lie all day long. Always worth the drive, always worth the greens-fees, a real golfer's course !!

And the PUNCH cigars at the clubhouse are $8.00/ea., not $8.99 !!

Unlike the two public golf establishments in THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF PASADENA - enjoy a nice big fat cigar at Goose Creek any time !! Buy a few there.....they have a decnet sized PUNCH for $8.99! Always worth the drive, and worth the price of admission and then some !! Played The Goose on Saturday morning 1/31/04 at 7:33 A.M. - finished in four hours flat. Not bad for a So. Cal Saturday !! Greens seemed to roll true for the most part....a few seemed bumpy to me, but I was coming off a layoff, so it could have just been me. Fairways were lush and had not-too-many divots, considereing what a popular place G.C.G.C has become. Still has the best finishing hole in all of SCGA (#18 from the blue tees!!)

it rained the entire night before our 6:51 tee time and the course was in great shape. the drainage here is excellent from tee to green.we walked and were finished in 4 hrs. absolutely a must play,greens are big w/undulation, fast and true,watchout for false fronts. won't be dissappointed!

Everything nice but the first green is bumpy and ugly. Pace of play slow, walking threesome very slow. tee'd off at 7:30 and didn't finish until a little after 12:00.

Goose Creek was in great shape. Always a pleasure to drive out to such a great course for the steal of a price. Our foursome got on for a twilight price of $42.

The course is in Great Shape and well worth the $52 to play. The greens are firm and med/fast. Just a Joy to play. Great Pace 3 1/2 Hours for 18 Holes. You do not see that very often anymore. A real g... Continue »

The course is in Great Shape and well worth the $52 to play. The greens are firm and med/fast. Just a Joy to play. Great Pace 3 1/2 Hours for 18 Holes. You do not see that very often anymore. A real good time golfing. I highly recommend it.

Very good value especially with Senior discount. Holes are not that long but have a lot of sand traps to make them a challenge.
