2 things wrong with course, absolutely no sand ( not even dirt in some) in the bunkers, I putted out of the 2 I was in. 2nd thing wrong? Teed off at 7 and it took 5 hours on a Thursday? Ridiculous, the SCGA needs to get out there and explain to them how to get the snails moving. Most of the waiting was on groups just BS'ng on the greens and playing from the blues when they should not have even been on a golf course and of course there is no marshal at all. Maybe I'll be back if I read where they have improved pace of play but I doubt they will as they seem to have no clue how to correct it.

Sunday 5/26 tee time 10:15am. Had an Underpar 2 for 1 voucher that was about to expire so Alaksana, myself, and a couple buddies made it out to Indian Hills. The course has always had a soft spot in my heart since I played here a lot as I was progressing in my game. Tee shot on #16 is every bit as fun as #18 at Glen Ivy. Ball stays in the air forever! The layout is unique with no parallel fairways and in the past the conditions have always been pretty good, especially for the price they charge but sadly that's no longer the case. Tees- Poor. Lots of divot damage and only a couple were flat. The rest were like trying to tee off from a turtle's back. Fairways- Mostly good but some areas were just dirt and for some reason they always seemed to be in the middle of the fairways. Rough- Mixed bag of long, thin, and completely bare with unseen rocks underneath so beware. Bunkers- One word = concrete. Greens- Surprisingly good. Speed wise they were pretty slow. Probably about 7.5-8 on the stimp but they were very smooth and had very little ball marks. Customer Service/Facilities- Jason in the Pro Shop is a friendly and helpful and did a great job keeping the tee times on time. Misc.- POP was 5 hours but didn't feel that bad. Only had a couple of holes that backed up and caused some longer delays. Food at the turn is cheap and tastes good. Driving the ball about 5 yards short of the green on #16 was a blast! But alas, not sure if I can recommend at this time unless you can score a great deal which luckily they offer quite often here.

I only paid $20 bucks at noon through GolfNow, so if I gave a brutal review, it would be unfair, like the New York Giants playing a pop warner team. The pro shop is adequately stocked, and the starter was very helpful. Wearing a tee-shirt, but helpful. The course is very short, just over 6000 yards from the tips (overall, it plays considerably shorter than even that with the number of holes that are significantly downhill) with a few par 4s that are a bit too short, but all the par 3s play well, and the finishing par 5 is a chore. You can find trouble left and right on almost every hole. The greens are very healthy and pretty smooth, just shaggy and slow. The fairways and tee boxes were kind of a mess. The bunkers were like hitting out of empty swimming pools. But, I paid $20. We had a really slow fivesome in front of us, and we still finished in less than 4 hours.

If you don't feel like spending much on a round and still want some challenge (and want a one of the best hot dogs around) Indian Hills is a great investment. You can't compare it to Oak Quarry or Hidden Valley or anything along those lines, but you don't eat steak every day either. Like the starter, this course has a laid back feel and is certainly not fancy.

Went out today and had a good time. Service always good and course in good condition. Smooth greens but nice surprise as I was in 2 greenside bunkers and both had ok sand in them. Got out nicely. I will be going back soon.

The greens have not yet recovered from the recent punching, still very bumpy and very slow. Perhaps in a couple more weeks they'll be fine. The biggest disappointment I had was the lack of sand in the greenside bunkers. Just no way to get your club under the ball. I enjoy this course, despite the questionable conditioning and the staff is always great.

Overall, I love this course. I wish they would move it closer to my residence. My review shows some bareness in the fairways and rough. Tolerable. The greens are amazingly good. I noticed one where some idiot obviously "chunked" at the surface with a club. I hope that someone with him chastised his ignorant action. The sandtraps vary. Two of them I played from had 1/2 inch of sand above a crusted base. (I sensibly looked at my footprints in the second one, and played the shot accordingly.) Another one had great sand. Again, this is one of my favorite courses because of the challenge for the price. A fantastic variance in layout of each hole. Rolling fairways (left and right) and downhill/uphill make the course wonderfully interesting. And, the food? Great fare. (I wish they had the beef/barley soup again, but they've discontinued soups - ah, well...) The greens fee is below what you would expect to pay, noted and appreciated as you return to your vehicle after finishing the round. I'll be back!

If you want to play this course, make sure to have a coupon from UnderPAr cause their green fee is way too expensive for this course $50! Luckily I did have coupon is was worth the price. I will wait couple of months before I play this course again.

Played Friday 11/23 9:52 tee time. The course was busy. It took 5hrs 15 min to finish. They allowed multiple groups of 5 go off which shouldn't have happened on the busiest golf day. I never once saw a marshall on the course trying to speed things up.
The greens were in good shape and had some good speed to them. The fairways were in good condition considering the time of year.
