Played here this afternoon with sr129 and Itslikeimsayin. Tee time was noon and $33 was a nice price for this course. They let us head out about 15 minutes early and we finished in just over 4 hours. The course was in pretty good overall shape coming out of its fall maintenance. No remnants of recent aeration on the greens, so they are pretty much fully healed. They were rolling at medium speeds and super duper soft. That was nice for hitting approach shots, but it resulted in some bumpiness in the late afternoon with spike marks and minor ball mark damage. The fairways were mostly pretty good. I always had nice lies. The rough was more sketchy. Some nice lush areas (especially around greens) and other parts that were patchy and/or bare. The couple of bunkers I found were decent. The tee boxes were still a bit shaggy after the overseed, so the thick sticky rye grass snagged my backswing a few times, but that's the curse of having a low swing plane! This was only my second time here, with the first being many years ago when it was still the SCGA course. There were signs up around the clubhouse saying it just reopened under new management (again), so hopefully the solid conditions today were a sign of even better things to come. It's a really fun, challenging and enjoyable layout I'd love to see it return to its former glory.

Great track. They made #18 a par five which I liked more as a par 4. Very fair golf course. The traps need some sand.

Haven't played this course in a few years. Conditions the same as i remember, GREAT. Some changes to the layout. Hole 2 changed to short par 3. Hole 11 and 12 lengthened 60yards and 40yards respectively. Biggest change, hole 18 is now reachable par 5 and you tee off from the teebox that used to be the black tees for the second hole.

8:30am tee time went off on schedule. Good pace of play. Course was in A- condition with just a few fairway areas desiginated with ground under repair. Greens were at times a little quick but soft holding those 150+ approaches.
Since the SCGA bailed on the course, it seems to be trying very hard to maintain those standards. Very worthy course for all levels of play!!

The course is in great condition! Greens are excellent BUT will be aerated starting Monday. Most of the fairways are in excellent condition. Rough is 2-3" high and thick. Only thing I can complain about is the traps, some are thin and not raked. Good customer service! Great Senior rates, $35 during the week.

Omg this course is back people!! For those who knew and loved the old Scga course and the great condition we had back then, it's back. This course went through some rough patch when it was being sold. I lived just down the street so I've must have played this course twice a week. It was sad to see it go downhill. But I've just played it last week. Beautiful cross cut fairway. Smooth fast greens. Not as fast as the Scga days but still plenty good. New black tees also very challenging. Very reasonably priced. You're gonna see me come back real soon. Great job new owners

Played last Sunday the 10th at 8:30. Our tee time was 6:45 but we had almost a 2 hour frost delay. Have to strongly disagree with the previous review of this course. It is NOT a 9.5 The fairways have sparse grass on about 50% of the holes, the other 50% are lush and in good condition. Greens have a a weird fungus on a couple of holes that made cauliflower ridges, which prompted my playing partner to say to me "This place is a goat track" Most greens were in good condition though and were rock hard. I'd say the best part of the course is the design - many interesting holes and the breakfast in the club house. Recommend the breakfast sandwich. Food is definitely worth getting here. :-) Pace of play was good 4.5 hours.

Played today on a sunny beautiful day. I haven't played here for almost one year. Unbelievable conditions I was completely floored. Lush green fairways, tees are green and immaculate, and the greens are just absolute perfection. Hard, fast and pure. If you're above the hole, forget it, you're 3 putting. I hit 7 out of 9 nine greens on the front and shot 44. Too many 3 putts and one 4 putt. On the par 3 6th hole, I had a 40 footer for birdie then I had a 30 footer coming back for par, you get the idea. Sand was decent, but where did all the rakes go? Many of the huge bunkers only had one rake. Cart girl came around plenty of times, overall a great day at SCGA, er Rancho California.
