10/3 off at about 830 on a pleasant SC morning slightly overcast with an intermittent light breeze following a 4some and a single walker but played steady with 3 1/2 POP.
Found many lies in the fairway rather thin or settling down to the ungrassed area between the better cover. Funny how today a few inches would make quite a difference as to the lie while last week here my ball was better at finding the grass. Oh the humanity or thats the rub. Rough about 1-2 but enough to slow the ball and to be grabby at times.
Tees level but well worn but playable. No bunkers but they looked good. Some have been reconfiguered to have the layered faces. Quite the look.
Greens were dry faster and rolled true and receptive. Most are elevated and do not forgive misses as every close shot bounces away.
Friendly staff, easy check in with golf moose voucher. Was glad to hear that punchng was moved back a week so the Goat gets to punish me again next week.

9/26 using golf moose $80 2some on a really nice fall am with a 320 POP with some time spent looking to find the errant shots. Had not been here for 6 mo or so and overall was impressed with the upgarades, lot of grass where it was dirt and some new tee boxes. Fairways varied for quite good to thin in places as the heat has been an issue. Lies were ok to good. Rough was cut short but caught yout attention.as to shot making. I founf that the rough was actually helpful as it prevented excessive roll out and kept the ball in play. Never hit a bunker but they looked well maintained.
Tee boxes were level but some were chewed up. Most teeing areas are rather small so even with rotation they take a beating.
Greens are healthy with good cover. At 8 am they were wet and had not been brushed nor mowed so were on the slow side but got better as the round progressed.
Easy friendly check in. Range is closed early mondays. Carts are basic but effective. Fun layout where accuracy is primary.

Played a full round at Goat Hill for the first time since end of May. All the major renovations on 12 and 13 are complete and the two holes are really, really great. The addition of turf in areas has paid off incredibly as the course is much more playable than it has been in the past.

Overall the conditions are Goat are pretty good right now. The heat, humidity and complete lack of water are starting to take their toll, like they are everywhere else, and you're getting some pretty firm spots around the course. The greens were still really, really good if not as firm and fast as I like because of the weather, but nonetheless they rolled true and were great at holding shots.

There are a few new projects kicking off this week to improve the experience including more new cart paths, added turf to soften areas where people hit it a lot and the ball gets bouncing away and some tee replacements.

All in all, a fun place to play and I think the back nine, with everything that has been done on holes 10-13 is just a super fun loop.

Always great to get back out to the Goat. Having played here numerous times, I know what to expect, which is the most difficult 4500 yard course in the world. I try to moderate my expectations here because I know that there is a thin margin between a shot which provides a good result and big and a real test to save a par.

Greens were good, as were the fairways and most of the tee boxes. Avoided the bunkers, but they appeared OK. Staff as always was friendly and a pleasure to deal with. I had hoped that the temperatures would be much cooler here, but turned out it was still a bit toasty out there.

Went out to play on 8/6/22. Got out as a single at 6am, and played thru 1-2some and a 4-some on the back 9, and finished in about 2 1/4 hours so obviously no pace of play issues for me.

Went out to play on 8/6/22. Got out as a single at 6am, and played thru 1-2some and a 4-some on the back 9, and finished in about 2 1/4 hours so obviously no pace of play issues for me.

I've played here 2 other times and really love the place. They truly are trying to make this course about fun with zero golf pretentiousness. I love showing up here to play in my favorite T Shirt, non golf hat etc.

There were some good and not so good about the course this time out. Starting with the good, the recent updates to some of the traps are really looking cool - fortunately I stayed out of all of them on this day. But some of the pot bunkers are really cool looking. The greens ran smooth on most greens. Unfortunately, there were a lot of unrepaired ball marks on many greens. I think this course brings out a lot of casual and newer players - maybe not a bad idea to educate these people before they start rounds on proper care for greens? Fairways were in good shape generally. Tee boxes were not always level, but I was able to find a flat lie to hit from always. I would never expect this place to be perfect in that respect.

I did watch a YouTube video on the course before playing and its probably not a bad idea if you aren't with a local. There's a few holes where its really hard to tell what green/pin you're aiming for. I made that mistake where I hit my best approach of the day to a few feet, only to realize I aimed at the wrong pin on shared green. Doh!

Got out to play Goat Hill for the first time in a bit right after a special event/Korn Ferry qualifier this week. First time the renovation on #13 was open and what a great hole! I always loved that hole before but the green is about twice as big, two massive pot bunkers on the left and a cool little collection area in the back. The par 3's at the Goat just get more and more outstanding/difficult.

The course is in fantastic shape. Tee boxes are in some of the best shape I've seen them as the weather has warmed up and never had a bad lie. Greens weren't as fast as I expected but it was due to the wind kicking this week and if they would have double cut and double rolled like they do for other tournaments, it could have gotten silly.

The other project wrapping up is a cart path re-do and new sod on the par 4 8th. This is a huge upgrade if you ask me because good to great tee shots would get penalized in an area with just ragged or bare spots. Now you'll be able to get a bit aggressive and have a good lie if you hit a good shot.

Goat Hill is my home course, but I haven't played it in awhile since I've been at other spots, but it's really staying the course and continuing to get better.

Don't sleep on the challenge you get from this course. The winner of the Korn Ferry qualifier when asked what he thought of the Goat was "4500 yards of sheer terror". Sums it up nicely :)

Great way to begin the week with an early start at Goat Hill Park. Weather was very mild and turned into near perfect condition as the round progressed. The greens have totally recovered from the aeration and are possibly the best I've seen them. They were rolling them when we arrived, so they were smooth & true, but as always .... TOUGH. Fairways have good coverage. Rough was a bit spotty. Most tee boxes were OK. Temporary green on the par 3 13th hole, reducing it down to 120 yards. Every time I play this course, I am more impressed by the improvement from when I first ventured out here some years ago. (The course was not good then) It used to have such a neglected, shabby feeling about it, but now you can see the pride they take in the course and it shows. So long as you're expectations to score here are placed in check, because you will not put the kind of number you'd think you would at a 4500 yard course, you will walk away having fun time. If you have not played the Goat, give it a try.

Whenever I play Goat Hill Park, I always leave with a smile on my face and a better appreciation of the world humble, because if any short can humble you, this is the place. Highly recommend to anyone who has not yet played here, to make the trip and take on the "Goat". It is in great shape right now and the greens are very good, which is the primary defense of this course. I remember the first time i played here. The course has come a long way and improved greatly. Strongly recommend !

Played the Goat on a beautiful Sunday, mid Morning. Pace was slow because there were a lot of people out there today and the greens were firing. I have to say that if other courses in SD had the greens rolling like the goat did today, they would be way more fun to play. Think these might be the best I have played at the goat, or any course for that matter. Hole 13 is being redone, so that is a temp green while they rebuild the hole and six is a little bumpy, but those were the only two that were not perfect. Course is in great shape overall and is really fun to play. Get out to the goat and have a great day Peeps.
