First time I've ever played the Ranch in under 4 hours. Teed off at 7:12 AM Saturday morning and finished at 11:00 with only a couple of groups in front of us. The greens are OK, but really slow - looks like they aerated within the last few weeks but I'm not sure. Fairways are a little thinner than usual, rough is about the same. There's hardly any danger on this course, and that - coupled with the average conditions - make it hard to justify the $72 JC Player's rate on the weekend. Not to mention the constant sales pitch to renew the JC card at every single one of their courses. E-Ranch is convenient, and easy, but pricey - kind of like most North County courses.

The course was in the worst condition that I've ever seen it.The greens were the worst.Players assts. were never seen getting out of thier carts to fix ball marks on greens, let alone trying to speed up the pace of play ( 5hrs,). The greens were not only severly ball marked, thin in spots and lumpy. They need arification now!NOT worth 35$ LET ALONE THE 75$ THEY CHARGE.

This may be the most poorly designed course ever conceived in the United States, surprising since Cary Bickler is not a total chump. To have done so little with such a phenomenal piece of real estate is a tragedy. This could have been a world class par 70 layout, instead it is a par 72 abomination. I play golf 2-3 times a week and work less than 10 minutes from this facility and after 3 "open minded" rounds there since its opening I can honestly state I would never play this course again unless sex or money was involved.

I played here last week and the current rating for this course (2.99) is grossly inaccurate. Although there is no question that the course conditions do not correspond to the relatively high green fees ($70 weekday, $90 weekend), the course is in much better shape than a 3/10 rating.

The pace of play was good.

The fairways had some trouble spots and the greens are being aerated (they do half of the green at a time), but the conditions are no worse than average. The bunkers had decent sand.

Overall, the conditions are similar to what you might find at a municipal course. But the layout is better, the pace of play is better, and the green fees are substantially higher than most municpal courses.

My favorite holes are probably Nos. 4, 14, 16, and 17 (from the blues).

Course was in poor condition; greens are full of ball marks, fairways have divots everywhere. On the plus side, marshals are fanatic about keeping up the pace of play. Our round only took 4 hours. The course design is interesting, particularly the 16th hole, which is a short blind par 4 that you hit over a hill and hope for the best. Local knowledge would seem to be an advantage here.

The 16th hole needs to get some help as there is only an area about 10 yards wide that you can land your shot and not have it go into the hazard on the left. Overall not worth the price.

Played 10/29 and the course has definitely gone downhill. I usually play here 6-7 times per year and I've seen a noticable dropoff in the conditions over the past year or so. A significant number of the tee boxes need to be redone (drainage issues) and the rough just off the fairways is pretty sparse. It didnt use to be this way and I'm hoping the city gets smart and starts spending a little more on the maintenance.
