Played on July 12, 2014: This course is fantastic. This is one of my favorite tracks in LV. Paiute is my other favorite course (wolf). We got on for 50$ via Golfnow.com and that is one of the best deals I've ever received on a tee time. The conditions for mid summer were absolutely fantastic. Greens were smooth, receptive, and medium/above average speed at a 10.5 on the stimp. The fairways were not burnt at all and they were carpet like with stripes. They were preparing for the Nevada State Amateur later that week and it certainly showed.

The course is a beast and plays long. The par 4's were not the tough part for me, it was the par 3's that presented a major challenge. Long "target" like golf on most of the par 3's and your irons have to be sharp here. If you miss the fairways your ball is unplayable 9 times out of 10. The desert is full of thousands of sharp/large rocks pebbles that are literally unplayable. I took several 3 irons of the tee. Beware there are many forced carries of 230-250 from the back 2 tees. 18 is a nice closing hole, 430+ par four with a water guarded green, enjoy!

Last summer we played Bears Best and the conditions were just incomparable to what we got at TPC. Would I pay over 100$ for any course mid summer? No, but at the right price during the heat of summer TPC is a must play. I will hopefully return during peak season to see how immaculate this course really can be! (pictures coming soon)

The closer you book to the date you are going to play, the lower the cost. Current local rate with 7 days notice is $99. With two days notice, it is $75. If you can play midweek, course is less crowded.

New GPS on carts since my last visit. Best cart GPS I have seen. Large screen holds nice, bright view of entire hole. Yardage shown to bunkers on left and right of fairways. Second screen can be chosen: "approach view" shows green shape, location and shape of bunkers, and front and back distance.

Signage in clubhouse shows that day's Stimp. On the day I played, it was 11.5 which is a good speed for this course.

Playing tip #1: The greens are pretty flat -- if you think you see a break around the hole, it is not there.

Playing tip #2: Only blind tee shot is #14. Aim at the church steeple. Fairway is much wider than you think it is from the tee.

Playing tip #3: New addition to scorecard is the "blended" tee choice. Unless you are a single digit, Blues are too long for you. Blended tees are a good solution if your ego won't let you play the Whites.

This is a well conditioned layout. You will have an enjoyable round, especially if you hit it straight and don't read breaks that are not there.

Played 10/16/2013. 1:20 tee time, 70° and no wind. First time playing this course. Green fee $99 for locals; nonlocals $179. Nice course, very challenging. Greens were smooth and medium quick. Lots of old ball marks, but they have been smoothed down by maintenance. Comment on green design: Almost every green has about two yards of fringe and then a runoff down a foot or two. Not a big drop off, but far enough down to be annoying. Because the greens are firm and quick, longer approach shots may not sit down. Anything slightly over the green will roll down. Greens are soft enough that higher approaches will hold (no spinning back in my class of play). Fairways are also really good. Rough is 3-5" with some most lies sitting down. Bunkers were excellent, enough sand without so much that the ball plugs. Lips are fairly low so we had some shots that hit into a bunker but rolled out into the rough. Blue tees are 6700+ and white tees are 6000+. Starter was very adamant that anyone not under a 10 should play the whites. There are many holes with forced carries over ravines. You have been advised. Great driving range. All grass (balls included in green fee). One nice tough is the yardage sign to the driving range flags is adjustable so they post the yardage from the range placement you are hitting that day. Cart service was regular. Food service at 10th tee (you don't go back to the clubhouse at the turn). No carts in parking lot, so use the bag drop. At the end of the round, you carry your clubs to your car. Many courses now have the cart guys ride out to your car -- TPC Vegas cart guys probably get smaller tips since they don't do that. Finally, I have played TPC Summerlin across the street. Summerlin is way easier than TPC Vegas. TPC Vegas' fairways are narrower and every hole has ravines and washes along one side and many with houses on the other side. As I watch this weeks tour event from TPC Summerlin, the courses look quite similar. However the Summerlin rough is much shorter for the pros. :-)

played on 8/7/12. this course was in great condition besides the first hole. a lot of maintenance going on there. that same morning they put sand on the greens that made the greens very slow. wasn't happy but besides that very beautiful. the cost is pricy. you get a cart with no gps and only about 25 range balls to warm up. i was one of the few that was willing to play at 105 weather. it was me and the bunnies. the rule book didn't say that you had to keep it in the fairway at all times. if you miss the fairway you aint going after your ball because its a 30 to 40 foot drop down into plenty of rocks. one of the best courses out in vegas but always look for a hot deal before booking.

Staff was friendly. Course is in "summer" condition - hard, fast greens with lots of ball marks. Fairways and tee boxes mostly good. Traps are hard packed sand. 4 hour pace. No gps on carts. Small bag of warm-up balls included.

Overall, a good experience. Hot temps, but not overbearing. Plenty of water available and passes from the beverage cart. I would recommend playing here, but shop for prices.

Played 7/4/12 andd 7/6/12. I my opinion, one of the top 3-4 best options when in Las Vegas. PGA Tour quality service. Nothing real elaborate and nothing super spectacular, but if you like a tour type layout, very good to great conditions, perfect practice facilities and very professional staff, then this is the place for you. I've played a lot of courses in Vegas and aside from the 300-500$ tracks, this may be my favorite overall location. Good variety of holes but nothing mysterious (except for the somewhat famous church steeple 14th). Smooth greens roll better than they appear. Lush fairways which will reward good tee shots with near perfect lies every time. Very consistent bunkers and level tees. Great views of the red rocks to the north and visually pleasing holes throughout. Highly recommend.

This course is fantastic. I played on 7/31/11. Top five days of golf ever. Somehow I caught it when it wasn't hot. If you're not sure where to play and you're in Vegas, play this course. Even if you're in Vegas and you know which courses you want to play, make sure you play this course.

Played twice (7/5 and 7/7). Enjoyed sop much the first time around, went back for a second round. PLaying in Vegas in July makes for affordable green fees. Only $89 when I played, which is more than $100 less in peak (September-October). Very much worth the fee. A true PGA / TPC experience. Greeted with friendly bag drop before round and club cleaner after round. The staff after the round even took our clubs to the car while we went in for lunch. Course offers several tee boxes for all skill levels. Nice straight forward layout without gimmicky holes. Only a couple of semio-blind shots, that are good risk / reward holes. Fairways appeared to be in final stages of healing from aerification, but still provided good lie everytime. Greens showing some ball marks, but virtually all were repaired and rolled well, firm but receptive. Find the Stratosphere tower to find the breaks in green. Great experience and staff from start to finish, highly recommend.
