Played Tuesday, December 6, at 8:30 am. I was joined by a couple of guys from Vancouver. One of them had local knowledge which was really important as there are several tee shots where knowing the angle or where the fairway ran out was really helpful. Following the advice was my problem as my driver was not cooperating. Time and again though I found my ball on the grass even though it looked like I was in the desert. Great design for risk v. reward. Visually intimidating but playable. it was pricey with tax (?) and "convenience fee" pushing the bottom line to $141. Range balls were included and the plush seats in the cart were really nice. There was no GPS but they included a course guide with the score card that mapped every hole.

The entire course had been overseeded. The fairways were shaggy but firm so there was some run. The rough was a factor although we had no problem finding balls. The greens were tough. They were firm and running medium at bes. There were some significant slopes and tiers that made putting adventurous. They would have been much more difficult if they had been playing fast. As it was, chipping was difficult because the ball did not check much on them.

Overall, the course was in real nice shape. One of the guys I was playing with mentioned how much he enjoyed the course versus some others they had played on their trip. Also, we were never saw the group behind and never caught the group in front (which started 20 minutes before us) in getting around in 3:50. I would not hesitate to come back (hopefully for a better rate).

The prices dropped earlier here and I was able to snag a 6:30 am tee time Sunday here for $59. This place is pure right now. The course is on the same level as any premier course in Scottsdale. I consider it the older brother of Legends Trail but still younger to Quintero. The shots and lines you have to select require immense strategy and is a true thinking man's course.

Looking back and photos and even thinking back I can't remember any issues with the course. The only things holding it back from 10s were the bunkers and the tee boxes. The greens, fairways, rough were perfect. Greens were a sneaky medium fast especially on downhill putts.

The tee boxes did have divots and were slightly uneven lumpy on some. The bunkers were consistent but a very very thick course sand. Much too thick for a course like this IMO.

I'm been twice in the last week and looking to go again. Course is 40 minutes out of town but worth the drive right now for the conditions.

Played the renown East Mesa Las Sendas at 8:20am for a hot deal off GolfNow of $34 on the 6th of June. Long story short, I woke up late due to my own fault and didn't make it to the course until 9:10ish and they helped and completely made me feel like there was nothing wrong. Showed up, cart guys grabbed my golf bag from my car in the parking lot, went to hit a few at the practice tee as every tee time includes practice balls and I was on my way. This course's staff is perfect in every sense. Great start.

The course had just come off of the NAIA College golf championship, so I was expecting tough, tough conditions matched with pristine conditions. I in fact, got BOTH. The tee boxes were manicured and had rocks leading to the boxes (even color coded to the tees you were playing from) which were lush and level everywhere. A few par 3's had divots, but they were all filled with sand. The fairways were a little wet to start the day off, but dried up as the heat of the afternoon showed up as expected. The rough was around 2 to 3 inches all day, without bare spots to be found and the desert rocks were even raked if you strayed that far off path. The fairways, to be noted, had recently been punched but they never led to a bad lie. In fact, I counted about one fried lie all day in the fairways. The greens were the stars of the show, as they were as pristine as I've ever seen and they were rolling true and FAST. The fringe was a few feet wide on every green, the surrounding rough was just as lush as the fairways. Great, if not perfect conditions on every hole. In early June, this is amazing.

The course itself is designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and has a bit of a Pete Dye feel to it at times, with a few blind tee shots and tempting lines...if you only view the line that's given to you. Many times, I'd stand on the tee or from the fairway thinking there's no 'easy' or correct line, but it more times than not was over a bunker or hazard. Risky golf was often the best line, with rewards being given out very rarely with this postage stamp sized-green defended course. The greens were its main defense, with the fairways and many approach shots yielding a requirement of JUST a well struck shot. But once on the green, every putt, even 2 footers, needed to be read and hit accurately. 3 putts were a plenty.

This course is very fun, and if you're reading up to this point of my review you should probably do yourself a favor and head over to their website or GolfNow and book a round...like now. Generous staff, great prices for their nearby competition (Longbow, Red Mountain Ranch, Gold Canyon, etc.) and the course strategy/condition is among the purest. Great round, even if it wasn't the best score, that I look forward to replaying here shortly. Pictures of the course to come, however for a real life view...GO PLAY!

Played here Saturday Morning POP 5 hours. Played a hot deal for $35

Definitely a poster child course for what you imagine as a Phoenix / Scottsdale desert golf course in the hills. The course is a little dried out as to be expected this time of year. Brown spots in fairways, some dried out area of elevated greens with no cover. The par three tee boxes have a lot of divots. The course is set for aeration next week so these are all standard leading up to a little course TLC. Aside from the minor blemishes this is a fabulous course. It circles around a couple peaks of a mountain. The par threes here are heavenly. They are all of the shorter variety but are mostly elevated greens into a green cut into the mountain. Some very fun dogleg water holes such as 1 and 18. The first starts off with the choice of hitting a long iron / hybrid left avoiding the water leaving a 200 yard shot or flying the water to leave a wedge in. The 18th par 5th is very similar. You can lay up left or fly a pond right to leave an iron second shot in. Many other fun risk reward holes with the choice to layup safely or cut a blind corner over the desert and cacti to leave a wedge in. The course requires strategy and accuracy of the tee if you want to go driver but has generous safe landing areas for a wood/hybrid. The greens are elevated but not overly so. I would say the most challenging aspects is the fairway lies. While this course isn't overly moundy like a Pete Dye course I noticed I had very few flat lies in the fairway requiring skilled approach shots to shoot well here. This is a beautiful demanding course but not brutally hard. Very fun to play I highly recommend it if someone wants to get out of Scottsdale and enjoy a beautiful course. Staff couldn't be friendlier and they have a great grill and specialize in making from scratch milkshakes which I haven't seen before.

I met up with my old Vegas work buddy for some golf. He was in town from the Sacramento area to play in a club volleyball tournament. We had played a lot of golf together while working in Sin City, and since then we’ve tried to get together once a year for a golf getaway. We previously hit SoCal, Bend (OR), Paso Robles, and the Central Valley. Las Sendas was our Round 1 at 2:30pm on Tuesday, 2/27/18. Late morning the weather was clear and sunny with only a light wind, but it transitioned to very windy with rain showers later in the afternoon, and the weather on the back 9 wound up beating us up as much as the course did. The course winds around several large rock uplifts and through a high-end residential community. There was more slope here than I initially thought there was going to be, as the community and the course is pushed up against the foothills rising on the east side of the valley, looking down on the valley floor and downtown. Fairways are generous but offline shots can run quickly into desert waste areas. Greens and green surrounds were in excellent condition. Greens were very firm, allowing almost no ball mark, although we saw evidence of quite a few older ball marks. Greens rolled smoothly at medium+ speed. Some greens are tiered, and others are pretty severely sloped, and putts breaking away from the rock outcrops and downhill had plenty of speed. Rough around the greens could be lush or spotty, and areas that gathered a lot of balls could have a lot of divot damage, making lies in those areas chancy. Fairways were in good shape and lies were good, ranging from tight to lush. Some fairways are fairly flat, and others are real rollercoasters with rolling swales and runoffs to desert washes – it looks to me like the amount of fairway movement is tied to proximity to the rock outcrops and the need for fairways to function as drainage conduits. Rough was fairly short and thin, and quickly gave way to desert, where lies ranged from playable to unplayable to lost. Tees were flat and in good condition, with par-3 tees being pretty damaged. Sand traps were groomed and in good condition. Sandy waste areas could be packed firm or powdery, making playing from there chancy. Small grass range with only about a dozen hitting stations and unlimited balls. Small putting green, somewhat worn in the middle, with about six hole locations around the outside. Also, a pitching green with the sandtrap that’s sloped pretty steeply. Starter was ushering off multiple groups of four spaced appropriately. The course has multiple restaurants, and a very busy clubhouse area with a large group of outside people, not golfers. The golf shop is fairly small and compact. I got a pleasant greeting, but the guy was reluctant to let me go to the range three hours early (I wanted to warm up, then eat lunch), saying they had “a lot of guests”. And no cart, please – walk to the range! Yardage book available, but no GPS on carts, which featured a small basket and a cooler with ice, but no water. Saw the cart girl several times, and adequate water was available on-course. Nice, well-located bathrooms. Staff was hand-filling(!) divots on tees at 1 PM! – nice! Unfortunately, I messed up regarding the tee time, and we reported to the first tee a few minutes late. The twosome we were to join was long gone, and we had to wait for two other groups to tee off before they were able to work us back in. So we teed off about 30 minutes late (scheduled: 2:04pm [twilight] to help hold the cost down [$55]). That bit us at the end, as we played the last few holes in gathering darkness (all the cloudiness from that fast-moving front didn’t help, either!), and after hitting tee shots on the 18th hole we couldn’t find our balls, so we missed out on this Z-shaped finishing par-5 playing around two lakes. Bummer! This is a very nice and challenging course with a lot of beauty. Highly recommended. I'm really surprised that this is the first posted review in 4.5 years! This was my first time getting back to Phoenix-area golf in 20+ years. Many thanks to several GKers in the Phoenix area who provided suggestions on where to play, given our restrictive geographic and cost criteria. We tried to get a mix of course types so we weren’t playing the same type of course over and over again. Thanks to chilipalmer99, dcoachl, bmcnicoll, sbarajasjr, and UNCLEDDBOY23 for suggesting great venues.

Played on Friday, 7/20 at 1000. The course was mostly empty except for a group of golfers teeing off around the same time we did. A threesome caused play to back up on almost every hole, but we still finished in approximately four hours.
The condition of the course was as to be expected in July in Arizona. The course was dry but not in horrible condition. The fairways had some bare spots as did the greens, but it was consistent throughout the round.
Many of the holes require you to think your way around the course. I used my 2 hybrid on many of the par fours because of the perceived tightness on many of the holes. As I played through the course, I realized you could hit driver on many of the holes I hit hybrid, but I'm not sure it would have been a huge advantage.
The greens were firm and looked like they had been aerated recently. Most of the greens were slightly raised which made it difficult to hold shots into them but as I said, they were consistent.
Overall, Las Sendas is a great place to play. They have a great practice area with range balls included in the tee time. Even on a Friday, no beverage cart service was available so either stock up in the beginning or be prepared with your own beverages.

Played Jan 20, 2013. Course in fantastic shape in every aspect. Greens were very fast and rolled true, yet held approaches. I think LS is the most difficult course that I play in the Valley, but I enjoy the challenge, and the conditioning is typically on par with any top course around.

Not up to par for this course's reputation for conditions. Not to mention rate is too high for summer in Phoenix. Will not be back until improved.
