This course is one of my favorites down here, RTJ really puts your golf mind to the test here, a great challenge for golfers of all skill level. Very strategic golf course and we were lucky enough to play a week after the patriot all American D1 college tournament so the conditions were in really good shape but the greens were peppered, for good reason I just wish more people would fix their ball marks. We started as a twosome and had another guy join us, because we had a group of 7 in front of us so we were waiting on almost every hole. Literally the only thing that made the day bad was the pace of play and couldn’t believe they would let a 7-some play but the ranger drove by and their must have been some game goin on between the groups so. Everything other than pace of play and some ball marks on the green was amazing. I truly do love this course, top 10 for me down here in the PHX area and would recommend. I will also be returning in the future.

8/29 - Played Wigwam(Gold). This is an old school long layout with small greens and tight fairways. The greens are generally slower in the summer time to keep them alive, so it was no surprise that they were on Saturday. However, the fairways were in great shape. On a few holes, it appears that they were doing some work on the bunkers so there was ground under repair. For the price, this is what I consider a good value course for the summer in Phoenix.

I got on Gold course around 130 for a $20 replay rate after playing Red in the morning. Some play going with a couple groups in front of me playing PGA golf without being on the tour.
They have a combo tee now taking some distance off the tips. Distance on the combo is around 7000 yards but give you a chance to shorten some holes. The tips play around 7400 yards.
The course conditions were good. Nice tee boxes all level. The greens were not as well conditioned as the Red course but in good shape. Lots of subtle breaks to play. The course is challenging because of it’s length but straightforward. Some fun holes on the back nine as you play back to the resort. Eighteen is a tough finishing hole.
I would give the Gold course a chance. It’s a great place to grip it and rip it on drives.

I played here on Saturday morning, teeing off at around 10:00. It's a pretty straightforward desert course that winds along the back side of a residential neighborhood. There is a good distance to the houses, so I was not worried about hitting one (which I have done before on other courses). I was a single and was placed into a foursome that included another single and a twosome that was the tail end of a small tournament. Unfortunately, the pace of play was excruciatingly slow and I had to leave at the turn for a family event. Sucks to only play nine holes. It was 2 hrs. and 45 minutes for the front nine and no sign of the pace speeding up. Overall, the course was in good late-summer condition. Good coverage from tee to green; nicely mowed fairways and rough. I don't think I ever had a thin lie anywhere. The sand was medium soft and plentiful in both fairway and greenside bunkers. The greens held most shots and rolled medium fast and true. No ball mark damage. It was about $68 with tax to ride. No GPS on carts. We saw the beverage cart three times in nine holes. It was okay, but with other courses nearby I might consider my options in the future; however, at this time of year options are limited due to major maintenance on many courses.

Scored a TeeOff.com "Deal" time out here at 12:30 Sunday, 2/22. With a 20% off promo code, the price came to $58 including service fee and tax (why, Arizona, why?) when all surrounding tee times on this course were around $140. In my opinion, $140 is insane out here, but Phoenix-area prices seem super inflated across the board this time of year (much higher than Palm Springs area courses). Pace of play was great. I teed off about 10 minutes early, played with 3 others and we finished in 3:40. Conditions were good (not great) for the most part. The greens are very firm and sometimes fast. Other times even downhill putts had a hard time maintaining momentum, which was odd. I'm not sure if maybe it was strong grain or green speeds were just inconsistent from hole to hole. Fairways and rough were the highlight, both of which I rated 8. Tee boxes seemed a little beat up, and a couple bunkers included some rocks, so I knocked them down a peg or two. All 3 carts in my foursome had problems with the GPS at one point or another, with me getting the worst of it. Mine never worked the entire round. Layout-wise, I've wanted to play here for a long time and I expected something a little more special. The course is a classic Robert Trent Jones Sr. design and touts itself as Arizona's answer to Firestone Country Club, but it didn't feel like it had nearly as much character to me. It's probably unfair, but although I knew it was a parkland layout beforehand, being in Phoenix the style just seems a little bit boring (and I love parkland style courses). It's very flat throughout the entire course, and from what I could see, this lack of elevation changes extends to all three Wigwam courses. Some of the greens have some serious undulation, but the course's biggest defense is its length, stretching to 7,430 yards from the tips. I played the 6,830 yard blue tees. All in all a very solid test and a nice layout, but not anything that is likely to "wow" anybody.

Played as a twosome on 04/10/2014 at 1307 hrs. Check in was a breeze on a Golfnow booking. Well stocked golf shop with everyone personable. Players assistants loaded our electric carts and directed us to the range. Large baskets of balls and target poles off grass...heaven! Water points on the range as it was mid 90s on the day. Parctice areas everywhere for putting etc. Met the starter who set up our gps. He gave us the high points of the course and off we went. We caught up to a single around 6. He declined our offer of a game and proceeded on.

There is a snack kiosk after #7 with sandwiches, hot dogs and cold drinks. You come by this kiosk again after playing #16. Wash rooms with water points were strategically placed around the course. The beverage cart was a regular visitor passing by several times on each nine. we saw a marshal once as the pace was very quick...3hrs:20.

The course itself is parkland style and heavily treed. Lots of lakes, ponds and a concrete canal that meandered throughout the course. Be aware of the canal and check the gps constantly. This course was in pristine condition with lush fairways and very short rough. The ball did pick up some mud on a high shot into the fairway. The mow height on the fairways was about an inch and the ball sat up nicely which we hadn't seen in our other three rounds in Phoenix.

Bunkers and tee boxes were well cared for and divots for the most part were sand filled. Greens were a bit bumpy with what to me looked like poa coming through the bermuda. I'm not sure of all the grasses in the area but bermuda is a score killer for me. The greens all sloped upwards from front to back with virtually all greens elevated.Speed of the greens was medium as were in the late afternoon.

The pace was quick but the single in front of us was "clearing" each hole. He would wait for the foursome ahead to finish the hole before he would tee off, consequently we wound up waiting for him on each shot. My wife convinced me to calm down but I lost it on #17 when the single played three balls from the various bunkers around the green while we waited in 90 degree heat on the tee box, My lime green shirt made sure visibility was not an issue. The tee box on 18 had cleared in front of the single with the foursome on the green some 400 yards away. "Hey when were young" had no effect on this guy. He just kept playing his balls.

We finished in 3:20 and went to happy hour. This facility has three golf courses and appears to be a focal point for the local community.

We will come back here again and recommend it to all levels of golfer.

Played the Gold course on May 12th, it was the first time I 've played this course. It is a fairly enjoyable course, and older type course and not a desert style course which is fine and good to play for a change of pace in the desert. Plenty of sand both fairway and green-side bunkers. Many dog-legs, which will take the driver out of play on some (many) holes. The greens were very firm, and many were slightly elevated, it was difficult to hold a shot on the green, this combined with the green-side bunkers made it difficult to get on to and stay on the greens. We started to play to areas that we thought we might be able to bump and run some shots to the greens,however that too was difficult. I did like the course however and I would play it again, although my companions weren't as fond of it as perhaps I was. If they could make the greens more accessible and hold some shots it would be well worth while playing. We paid $49 for the Gold course on their website. Staff were friendly, cart girl was around frequently.

I played a Saturday afternoon round on April 7 and while the course is nice the length of the round was about 5 hours. We teed off following a couple of tournaments and the course just was not able to recover. I have played this course other times and have been able to get through a round in 4 hours or less so don't be scared off. The practice facility is outstanding however the driving range was pretty chewed up. The course was in good shape. The greens were hard and fast but there seemed to be a bit of fungus. The fairways and rough were in very good shape. The cart person came by 3 times which was nice.

We played the Blue Tees which measured over 6800 yards and the course was challenging. You can't just "grip it and rip it" but you have to pay attention to creeks that bisect fairways, bunkers in the landing areas, and water on the course. It is an outstanding course and I strongly recommend it to everyone.
