Drove three hours to play this fun challenging scenic layout, well worth it. Course was in excellent condition with some pretty speedy greens, above the hole was deadly. Set in the foothills of Fresno across from some gleaming casino this is not your typical flat central valley course. Picturesque and challenging with lots of elevation change. I think it was Johnny Millers first course design, at least in CA. I'm not a fan of his courses but this one is more subdued, although the shorter the hole the tougher the green complexes became. I liked the contrast with the green course and the tan colored hills, would like to come back in the spring and see it all green. Teed off at 1:30 and the course was sparsely populated, so no pace issues. Only gripe, $80 green fee, no twilight rate. Worth it but I hate to pay it, it would become a theme on this trip. Highly recommend.

I couldn't get a tee time at Ridge Creek yesterday, so I called Eagle Springs and they were able to fit me in with a 10:50 tee time. Course conditions are almost identical to my last review with the exception the greens were in better shape. I didn't have any issues with diseased areas. the greens rolled absolutely butter smooth at a perfect medium fast pace. Greens easily held well struck shots.

Pace of play was on the slower side as there were a number of groups that were consistently 1/2-1 hole behind. We got around a few of the groups but still waited on just about every shot. I think POP was at 4:30 once we were done.

Eagle Springs is a very enjoyable layout and almost always in top condition. Highly recommend it.

Played Eagle Springs with an 11 AM tee time. The others in my group opted out at the last minutes so I went off as a single, then joined a threesome, then forged ahead as a single before joining up with another single for the last few holes.

The layout at Eagle Springs is a blast with the entire course set on a hillside so just about every hole has some sort of elevation change. Add in some water hazards, huge boulders and a mixture of tree lined fairways and open space and you have a great setting.

Conditions are decent all around, but not quite as nice as Ridge Creek which I played yesterday and is in prime summer condition.

Greens at Eagle Springs were in ok condition. There were a number of small diseased areas on about a third of the green. Most diseased areas were small (about the size of a dollar bill but I did have a couple that got in the way of my putt and bounced the ball around. Other than that the greens rolled smooth at a medium pace. Most greens were double tiered or had multiple undulations. Nothing ridiculous, just enough to make it important to be on the right tier.

Fairways were above average and mainly green. Not super lush but offered a solid hitting surface. As expected in the middle of summer in the valley, there were a handful of thin and dead areas throughout the course.

Tee boxes had decent coverage but a few good use some re-leveling. Nothing major, jut enough dips and lumps to make you off balanced during your stance, so I would have to reposition to find a level spots.

I was only in one bunker and it was fine. Sand was a bit crusty but enough to get a club under.

Eagle Springs is a super fun track that I wish I was able to play more often. I’ve tried to call numerous times but was never able to get a tee time that worked with my schedule. I wish they had online tee times so I could check last minute and play there more often.

A recommended course none the less.

This is just a quick update on conditions out at Eagle Springs. The summer heat is starting to show it's teeth as most of the fairways now have some brown spots. Fairways are still super lush throughout (including the brown areas). Greens rolled nice and smooth at a medium fast pace and easily held well struck shots.

A couple of the tee boxes were a bit lumpy but nothing major. I somehow avoided all traps today. Customer service was fantastic as was the pace of play (I finished in the 3 hr mark).

A highly recommended play when in the Fresno area.

I played Eagle Springs mid week as a single and zipped around in about 2 1/2 hours making my way through 3-4 groups. Course is in excellent shape and easily the best conditioned course in the Fresno/Tulare/Madera tri-county area.

Greens rolled very smooth at a medium fast pace.. Green complexes are a good mix of challenging (multiple undulations) yet manageable to sink a birdie or two.

Fairways were excellent and this is were Eagle Springs seperates itself from the other valley courses. Fairways were lush and a nice emerald green color.

Tee boxes and sand traps were also in nice condition. Friendly customer service from the pro shop to the starter.

Nice carts with lush seats and GPS. Course is not walkable due to a few long transfers. As in 3-5 minute drive in the cart transfer.

Course has a great layout set in the hills up by Millerton Lake. In addition elevation changes the course has a few water hazards.

Made my way out to Eagle Springs with an 11:30 tee time. This was my buddy’s first time playing the course plus he hadn’t played in several months due to military covid restrictions so we let a couple go in front of us so we could take out time around the track.

Most of the fairway grasses are dormant with very little green color showing through. Fairways played fine though and offered nice roll out. Greens were in very nice shape (they were just aerated 3 weeks ago). Green complexes have at least a two tier if not multiple undulations. Yet, somehow the greens are fairly manageable. Maybe I just ended up in the correct spot all day. Greens rolled true at a medium-slow pace. Tee boxes were the wink link. Some boxes had some unevenness to them as well as a couple had brown grass. I will say that most boxes only had moderate divot damage.

Bunkers had decent sand in them. Carts are new with plush seats and GPS to the pin. Beverage cart was around a couple of times on the front nine. As I’ve mentioned before, this is a fun layout with some elevation changes and water features. The Casino across the road is building a huge new tower. I can see this course moving up the list on Top Casino courses around the country. Definitely recommended if in the Fresno area.

Played Eagle Springs this morning under thick skies. The air quality was poor but manageable early morning with the 7:30 am tee time. This course is a blast to play and very pleasing to the eye. Built on a hillside, there are several elevation changes throughout which is a welcome change from the usual flat valley courses. The front nine winds around the surrounding houses and has a couple of water hazards mixed in with the elevation changes for some very pleasant aesthetics.

The back nine is out in Open territory with large boulders lining the fairways and green complex along with some mature trees to keep you honest as well. There is one pond between the 16th green and short 17th par 3. Overall, Eagle Springs is a fantastic layout.

Conditions were decent all around. Greens are medium sized with most having an upper and lower tier. Land on the correct level and you have a decent look at birdie and an easy two putt par. Put it on the wrong tier and you still have a manageable two putt but need to pay close attention or it’s easy three putt territory. Greens rolled smooth at a medium-slow speed. I was a bit shocked that the greens didn’t roll faster. The course is closed on Tuesday’s for maintenance so I would assume they had all been mowed the previous day.

Fairways were lush but due to the summer heat, there were some brown spots mixed throughout the course. More of an eye sore to the otherwise beautiful course than actual detriment to the playability of the fairway. Being it was an early morning tee time, there was a lot of soggy fairways from the vast amounts of water being placed on the grass.

Tee boxes were nice all around. Even the par 3 tees were relatively divot free.

Sand traps were excellent. Rated at a 9. The first bunker I was in had nice white fluffy sand the other two had darker brown sand but still very very nice to hit out of.

Customer service is great and the beverage cart was making its way around several times throughout the day. POP was under 3 hours as after I got through three groups on the front nine, I had clear sailing on the entire back nine.

Eagle springs just put in new carts last month. Carts are very nice, with plush seats and GPS.

Definitely a recommended course if in Fresno. Also, there is an “Indian” Casino across the street for those who like to partake in the gambling activities.

Enjoyed a nice sunny day at Eagle Springs before my afternoon bike ride. This is a fun course set in the hills just outside of Fresno. Track has lot's of elevation changes and a few water hazards to complement the fun and challenge. There are also a lot very strategically placed trees that make hitting the correct side of the fairway for proper approach angle key. Greens are medium sized with some having moderate slope and undulations and others with severe. Greens roll at a medium-slow pace but are soft and hold shots well.

Fairways have some brown areas but they are lush throughout regardless of color. The rough was brutal. Not very tall but definitely thick and penal. No issues with the tee boxes. Level and lush though they seemed to have more brown spots than the fairways.
Sand traps were ok to need improvement. One had numerous rocks and pebbles in it.

I'm started to think the POP is SLOW here. Course doesn't see much play but those who are out there TAKE THEIR TIME. 4 1/2+ hour rounds when there is less than 20 total players out on the course is brutal. But it did cut my bike ride down to 3 hours... but that's a story for a different day.

Cart gal was out and about all day and staff in the pro shop and restaurant were very friendly. As stated before, Eagle Springs is a solid choice when in the Fresno area. Just don't expect it to be a quick round.

Headed back out to Eagle Springs for a chilly but fun morning round of golf. Winter conditions have set in but the track is still in decent shape. Greens were smooth, but much slower. My guess is it's a combination of the recent rains and the fact that the course closes on Tuesday for maintenance so the greens probably were due for full mow and roll.

Fairway grass has started to go dormant. A lot of brown mixed in with the occasional green grass. Still, most of the fairway was lush and enjoyable to hit from. There were a number of thin and wet areas throughout the course.

The one sand trap I was in was decent, and no issues with the tee boxes. Cart gal was out making rounds on the cold day with few players so that was nice. Customer service is great. Everyone is very friendly.

Definitely a recommended track if in the area. It's a bit more expensive than some of the other courses in the valley but well worth it.
