Hit this course yesterday for super twilight. My first time here and I loved the way it looked and played. The rough and native areas framed each hole beautifully. Fairly generous landing areas off the tee. Many challenging and strategically placed bunkers featuring nice, light colored sand of medium density. Huge lips and deep bermuda rough frame these bunkers, so getting out (or not getting in) is crucial to scoring well. The greens were nearly pristine, except for several unrepaired ball marks on many of them. The next time I am passing through the area, I think I will check this course out again, since we only played 14 holes.

As our carpool group (JohnnyGK, kviser, audac1ty, RobStretch and myself) were driving home along the 99, we decided we hadn't had enough golf yet after 36 holes at Stevinson Ranch. We stopped at Ridge Creek Dinuba GC to squeeze in some super twilight golf.

There were only a few other groups out on the course as it was well over 100 degrees and there is absolutely no shade to be found on this course. We were able to squeeze in 14 holes before it got too dark. This was a fun course. It's a great links layout also out in the middle of Cow Country. A ton of bunkers on this course that need to be avoided if you want to post a decent score. They are all well placed and can be penalizing. This course also features thick native grasses framing every hole that should be avoided at all costs. Lots of undulation in the fairways and greens, which is expected on a true links style layout like this.

The course was in excellent shape, as well. From tee to green, it was green and lush out there. The ball ran a lot on these fairways, but the fairway grass was excellent to hit off of for approaches. The rough was cut down pretty tight, which adds some challenge as balls tend to roll through it and into trouble (bunkers or native grass areas). The greens were in excellent shape, though there were a lot of unrepaired ball marks that we had to help fix up.

Just like Stevinson, this is a very nice course in an unexpected setting. It was well worth the stop and I would highly recommend it if you are in the Fresno area.

I played Ridge Creek on 1/11/12 and one thought came to mind - WHO TURNED THE WATER OFF? This course, save for the tee boxes and greens, is brown dead grass. As a result, the fairways are extremely thin and the rough is very choppy and uneven. This course is not worth playing in consideration of current green fees. Once we get rains back in the Central Valley and this course starts growing and turning green again, I would expect this to again be in prime shape.

On the plus side, the greens were in excellent condition, the tee boxes were exceptionally well taken care of (even on the par 3s) and the bunkers were modestly to generously stocked with fluffy sand.

Have played this course and genuinely enjoyed it both times - it's fast become one of my favorites. This is a true links style course, generous fairways and tons of fescue grass as the dominant hazard, lots of balls can get lost in this thick foliage. There are no water/topographical hazards , the traps are in good shape and the greens are a challenging task in good condition. For some reason it's difficult to judge distances, everything looks farther than actuality.

Do not associate this course as a common municipal course, this is a step up in regards to physical quality.

Did have one incident which was handled to satisfaction - we were the first tee time following a tournament, because the tournament went long we were delayed by 45 min. The general manager provided us vouchers for a free round of weekend golf w/ cart, an extra sleeve of Pro Vs and an explanation as to why the tournament was lagging. Though irritated by the delay, the overture was nice.

Went out on Sat 7/31/10. Place was pretty empty. Conditions were great. I was almost shocked to see a valley course not over watered like they do here in Bakersfield area. This kept the greens from being ball marked to death. Very nice lay out in great condition. Only problems we had was try to figure out where to hit the ball. Your line of sight is often broken up and everything is farther than it looks. Greens proved a problem in that everyone in the group over read almost every putt. Holes suffer from starting to all look alike. They are almost all straight or a very slight bend. We played on a very hot day and there is no shade what so ever. Place of play can be slow if you or groups ahead of you are looking for balls. The fairways are wide, but we saw a lot of people on ball hunts, which slowed it down. Overall a great change of pace course.

very good condition, tough rough, most of difficulty is in length. flat, linksy, plains-style course. it seems very corporate, somehow. not really a players course yet somewhat difficult. maybe time will round it out but there were some very good holes and very few mediocre. a couple of silly hazards stuck where course knowledge is essential. complete clubhouse selection and restauant. when i played the pace was good, then slow, then stopped. many golfers playing from wrong tees or confused by line of sight issues because some tee shots are very difficult to figure (no gps) where to aim and trouble awaits a bad shot though the fairways are generous.

If you stat in the fairway, you can shoot a decent score. If you get in the rough, you might as well take a drop. They haven't mowed it because it is designated as a "wildlife refuge" so the grass is ... Continue »

They haven't mowed it because it is designated as a "wildlife refuge" so the grass is crotch high and almost impossible to swing through. The traps need a little more sand in places. For the money, I think I'm going to spend the gas money and play either Sherwood or Valley Oaks, at least until later. I still don't understand the $10 per person cart fees. Shouldn't a cart cost the same regardless of whether one or two people are riding?

Just played sunday, the rain definitely helped. The fairways and greens were perfect. I went on a golf playing spree this spring break and loved to play the other courses, but like always it is always best at home. I love to play different tee boxes, I have played all except the silver and red. The different boxes allow you to play the same course, but also the same course, because somethings that were problems from one tee may not be at the next distance. You really have to change your game from the white-blue-black.

Anyone that doesnt believe the hype, just look at the reviews given by the greenskeeper originals, all very impressed and had fun on this course. They came from far away, so dont be afraid to drive 40 mins from fresno or 1 hour from Bako, its worth the drive, and we hope to see you out here.
