Played this course 9-23-09 for first time. This is a wonderful layout with interesting holes and requires concentration. Only weak hole in my opinion is 18th. The new par 3 course (12 holes) is a little jewel. Be sure to play it. The 18 hole course is well worth playing if you are in the area. Be sure to stop at La Purisima too!

Played two rounds (first 7:30), breakfast at 10:45 and back out at 11:30 for second. You must play from the right tees here or you will not have a good time. Fun course in good condition.

If you're an early morning golfer be forewarned their earliest tee time and range opening is 730. This is a great course. One of the few I would say is worth the $74 green fees. Staff is professional and friendly. Fairways were trim and fast (even with the morning dew). Need to be able to work the ball left/right to get to some of the tight pins. Course knowledge is very helpful, if you can't play twice playing with a friendly local will help lower your score. Bring a good short game because the greenside rough is thick (plenty of kukui) and the greens are slick. The layout is nice winding through the wooded areas of Nipomo with some breathetaking views of the coast line. Yes, the course does wind through a housing track but don't let that deter you from playing a wonderful course.

Played MD on 29 March. Conditions were not quite as good as last time I played here. However, still very good. This is a very enjoyable course, but can get windy at times. This just adds to the "links style" challenge and to the fun. Did not get a chance to play the new challenge course, but will check it out next time, as I will definitely be returning.

Got a really good deal From the Golf Central Coast Website.

Today we played the Challenge course, a 12 hole par 3 course. It was not your typical par 3 golf course. This course has the flavor of the "Old Course" but you can play all 12 holes in about 2 hours. It doesn't cost too much to play here, $16 walking, $25 riding. If you are walking, there were several holes where you had to walk a long way to the next hole.

The greens are pretty much like the old course. The greens were a little fast but they roll true. On the challenge course, if you are short you can get into a lot of trouble. There were about 5 holes where you have to hit over water or a lake. Holes range from about 65 yards to one hole where the yardage was about 200 yards from the back tees. Some holes you hit down to the green and some holes like the 12th hole, you have to hit uphill to the green. Bring your short game here. You will certainly need it here. The Challenge course was certainly an enjoyable course to play. Will be back here again when we are in the area!

The first time you play the course there are a lot of things to learn about the layout, a good idea is to buy a layout book. There are a lot of elevation changes and water can come into play on several drives. Many of the greens are elevated and you cannot see the green from the fairway. Also on a couple of holes there are 90 degree doglegs, make sure to pay attention to the layout of the course on the card.
On a couple of par 5's with a good drive you can go for the green in two but be careful of the landing areas.
This is kind of course that you need to play a couple of times to really get a feel for it but overall not a bad track.

Played the new Challenge Course which is a 12 hole par three. This course just opened two weeks ago and is the second out of three new courses to open. I had a great time playing this "Executive course" due to a great variety and incredibely challenging greens. the holes range from a 75 yarder that has a green that is triple tiered to a down hill 232 yarder with a lake on the right. All of the holes are reminicent of the Old Course here with the greens and the natural grass in play. All holes are well bunkered as well. For $16 this was money well spent and I will for sure be back.
