Played yesterday afternoon. Wind was up which was actually nice as it kept temps down a bit. Summer heat is showing as the fairways now have a few brown areas. Not bad overall. Just a few here and there. Greens are excellent unrated them an 8 but really they could be a 9.

Sand traps have nice sand in them but sadly no one here ever takes the traps.

Played here a few times in the last few weeks. Given the winter we’ve had this course is in excellent shape. Conditions are very similar to my last review with the main difference being the greens are more receptive to approach shots. They still roll true at a medium fast pace. I will say we encountered a few more unrepaired divots on Tuesday. We tee’d off at 7am so they were obviously from the afternoon players the previous day. Same goes for the unraked bunkers that maintenance hadn’t gotten to yet.

Also. Weeds outside the rough are TALL. As in 3’-5’ tall. Luckily the rough is thick enough to stop any rolling ball.

Rest of the course is in great shape.

I've played Coyote Creek a couple of times in the last 10 days. Overall, the course is in great shape. Greens roll very smooth at the perfect medium fast pace. Greens are a little on the firm side but not too bad. Fairways were in very nice shape sans the few areas being repaired from hog damage a few months ago. Fairways present the perfect combination of a great hitting surface with good roll out.

Rough is actually manageable at only 2" tall and not overly thick. Sand traps.... So, the traps themselves are fine. Good high quality sand. Problem is no one rakes the traps. We play early morning before maintenance has a chance to clean them up from the previous day and the bunkers have a ton of unraked food prints.

Tee boxes are all level with good coverage. Layout is fun and challenging with some elevation changes on the first few holes, followed by some water hazards on the last two. POP is generally going to be slow if you play in prime time. We usually get out as one of the first groups and get around in 3-3.5 hours but last week with the frost delay had to call in quit after 15 holes once we hit the masses on the first tee (we started on #4).

Coyote Creek is a perfect location for when I have to head up to the bay area and will probably be playing her more in the summer once we can tee off prior to 7am. Course conditions are right on point with the price line.

Played Coyote Creek with and early morning start time. With a meeting in San Jose smack in the middle of the day and wanting to get a round in we had to tee off at the crack of daylight. Course was in excellent condition tee to green. With the exception of the few areas the pigs had torn up during the night, the course was in fantastic shape.

Greens were pure. They rolled super smooth at a medium-fast + pace. Well struck wedge shots and short irons held well, but long irons tended to run out a bit. Most greens are two tier with only a couple being severe. The rest are manageable. In fact most are in that perfect balance of having enough slope to make the break predictable and easy to read but not wickedly ridiculous. Greens were almost a perfect 10. An easy 9.

Fairways were far behind. Again, the hogs had torn up some of the fairways during the night (only once did it effect my ball/shot). Outside of that the fairways were super lush and a nice emerald green. Rough was about 2” and predictable.

All tee boxes had lush coverage with only a couple having some minor unevenness. Bunkers had good high quality sand. Layout is fun with some holes up in the hills and the rest flat. 17 has and island green on the par 5 making it a blast. Restaurant setting is nice as well, with both indoor and outdoor dining area. Being first off, we easily finished in around 3 hours. It was cold for the first few holes but warmed up nicely.

For the conditions alone, I recommend this course.

I played Coyote creek a couple days ago with an early morning start. There was a frost delay so we hung out in the lounge for about 45 minutes having coffee before hitting a few balls on the range. Overall course conditions are very nice. Due to the frost delay the first few greens hadn't been mowed or rolled so they weren't as nice as the rest of the course. Once we got to the holes that maintenance had already addressed, greens rolled smooth at a medium-fast pace. Greens have a good amount of undulations with a few of them having severe difference between the upper and lower tier.

Fairways were lush with great coverage throughout. Sand bunkers were a bit of a guessing game The first bunker that I was in had excellent sand, however the next one was a bit thin. Third sand trap was decent. Not as good as the first one but much better than the second trap.

Tee boxes were the "weak" link if the course. Coverage was fine even on the par 3's , however, a handful of the tee boxes were uneven and in need of some attention.

Layout is fun, with the first eight holes being in the hills so there are some elevation changes. Then when you get to the flat holes there's a couple of water hazards. Highway 101 splits the course but you never hear the traffic noise. Course is in a convenient location and definitely worth playing if you're traveling along hwy 101.

Played the Tournament course at Coyote Creek. Course conditions were excellent all around. Greens wer phenomenal with hardly a pitch mark to be found. Greens rolled true at a fast pace. Most greens are manageable but there are a couple with some major height difference between the two tiers. Fairways were a solid 9 as well. Green lush and just short of perfect. There were a couple of fairways with some damage from the wild hogs but not nearly as bad this time around. Sand traps were fine as were the tee boxes. I hear there's a big difference condition wise between the two coyote creek courses with the tournament course getting 75% of the attention. We Tee'd off at 8:30 to avoid the majority of the weekend rush. Still POP was a bit on the slow side but not bad considering it was weekend prime time. The Layout is fun and challenging. Given the great conditions, it's worth playing.

I will try to be as neutral as possible with my review. This is only my second time playing Coyote Creek and neither time was a pleasurable experience. This was my first time playing the tournament course which used to only be for members but is now open to the public.

The track layout was decent but nothing really spectacular. The 7-8 holes in the hills were fun but I actually enjoyed the flat section of the course more which is odd for me because I put a lot of (rating) weight into courses with a lot of elevation.

My favorite hole on the course is the par 5 17th which has water in front of the green that makes going for it in two a real risk. It also plays into a head wind in the afternoon making it even tougher. I needed another 10 yards on my drive before being comfortable with trying it but it was sooooo tempting!

Greens roll smooth at a respectable medium/fast pace. Pay attention to the direction of the grain on these more than anywhere. I got fooled a few times on putts not breaking as expected.

Sand traps were excellent, however they are short on rakes. There were a few huge bunkers with only one or two rakes total So you have to walk around a bit to get a rake. I raked up a few footsteps from other players who didn't bother with fetching s rake.

The course has recently been destroyed by wild pigs. None of the greens were affected but several large areas around the greens and on the fairways were completely destroyed. There must have been 20-30 areas the size of a living room that had been turned up and destroyed by pigs.

I felt bad for the grounds crew.

The course seemed to play longer than the yardage said. I shot my handicap so my game was decent but it might have just been the cooler windy conditions.

Customer service at coyote creek is absolutely the worst. Both times I've played here I've had bad experiences with the staff. The guy at the pro shop was busy talking to another employee who was headed to the range on his day off. Not only was he ignoring me but he was ignoring the starter who was trying to reach him on the radio. When he finally did check me in he acted as if I was a bother. There was no friendliness in his tone nor did he explain anything (carts, range, 1st tee location etc) he didn't ask if I had any questions and just seemed put out that I was there checking in.

Getting my cart was the same as neither person bothered to even talk to me more less help me with my clubs (I saved money on tips for sure). They too did not offer any friendly small chat or any direction on the layout of the land.

The starter was the only friendly staff members outside of the grounds crew that I encounter. The starter was an elderly gentleman and he was polite and courteous as you would expect from someone from that generation.

The entire staff if Coyote Creek need to take a trip down to Quail Lodge or San Juan Oaks for some customer service lessons. Those two courses have the best staff around.

My wife is the one who likes Coyote Creek so if I ever go back it will be because of her. Hey you gotta lose a battle to win a war occasionally!

This is a fantastic course but not for everyone. Be prepared to hit higher scores and losing a lot of balls. This is not a fun course to play if you play it for the first time or if you are a high handicaper. You would know how to play the course. The scorecard does not tell you much.

The course is in every good shape, fairways are well maintained, greens are smooth, bunkers are puff, and hazards are everywhere. The name of this course should be called Coyote Creeks instead Coyote Creek. You can almost encounter a creek or water on every single fairway! If you don't hit straight, you will end up in tough hazards on the sides. Forget about find your ball, just drop one and move on. You will have hard time if you don't hit long. You might have to layup twice in one hole.

Nevertheless, this is a challenging course to play but don't leave your A game at home. Don't forget to bring more balls either.

Played this course on a beautiful but windy afternoon. I'd played here once several years before. The first hole is fairly flat but holes 2 - 8 are in the oak lined hills on the east side of the freeway. We expected this to be the tough part, but frankly, we ended up scoring better here than on the back nine. Wind was a major factor, on the less protected back nine. The pace was somewhat slow after the first few holes. The course is in excellent shape and I would definitely like another crack at it. I haven't played the Valley course, but this seems like the more interesting of the two.
