This is an update of my last review.
Harding Park is in tremendous shape. Fairways are nice, greens are smooth, and the roughs are friendly (not too tall). The short game area has been reopened and is free. These two greens are among the best putting and chipping greens you can find in the Bay Area. The driving range is still closed due to storm damage. TPC Harding Park is a great PGA course but its driving range has always been below par. Green fees are great. $53 for general and $38 for seniors if you are San Francisco residents. Bay Area residents get a small discount. This is course worth playing.

Currently in poor condition with only sixteen holes available. We played all eighteen holes on Christmas Eve but the wind was blowing at 35-50 miles per hour. Holes 6 and 7 are affected by the driving range construction. Bunkers are in bad shape with hard sands. #2 is the most challenging hole with a dog-leg right par-4 and the water on the left. Playing #11 needs to land your tee short on the left on the power towers to give you a chance for a birdie putt. The rest of the holes are pretty straight forward. Always play early in the morning to avoid the gusty afternoon wind. The pace is very slow and you can hardly finish in 4.5 hours. If you pay full price to play here, go somewhere else.

I was very disappointed with the poor condition of the Bridges today. There are many ground under repair, bare spots, and big divots on the fairways. Greens are very fast but there are bare spots and uneven surfaces on the greens. This course is not the same as it used to be. You can't help notice the deferred maintenance throughout on the course. The layout is great and challenging but the condition will affect your performance. Par 3s are easy except #17, which is long and you usually hit against the wind. #2 and #16 are two long par 4s require good layups. #15 will be the toughest hole if you don't hit long. You will not pass the hazards in the middle of the fairway.
This course is still a fun course to play especially you get good deals online. There are two nice practice greens and be sure to go there early to practice.
I will play again next summer after they finish fixing the course.

This course would be a great course if the following improvements are made:
1. Grow grass in the fairways
2. Remove weeds and put sand in the bunkers
3. Clean up the rough areas
4. Maintain the course on a regular basis
The city of S F has threatened to close down the course and maybe that the reason the course has been neglected for many years. I once heard from the staff that the fairways will have grass when it rains. That is really sad. It was once a well maintained and challenging course. Some Pros came here to practice when they were in San Francisco. The course has a challenging layout, narrow fairways, and a hilly setting. It requires good course management to play well here.
For now, it is better to play somewhere else.

I played here on a very hot day and I couldn't deal with heat too well. This could make the course more difficult for everyone. The course was in good shape although the drought has done damage to the fairways. Evidence of brown areas are on many fairways. However, the greens are in very good condition. This is a hilly course with many steep fairways. Many par fours require three shot to reach the greens. Playing this course requires great course management. There are bunkers on the fairways, bunkers around the greens, and lateral hazards everywhere. Plan your shots! Greens are fast and some greens have multiple tiers. It has a great clubhouse and staff at the pro shop are very friendly. Give it a try. This is a good course to play especially they offer summer special for only $31.

Played this course for the first time two weeks ago. It is one of the best courses I've ever played. The condition is absolutely magnificent. Tee boxes are great, fairways are smooth, greens are well groomed, and the sand bunkers are well maintained. We played at 1:00 pm and the temperature was in the high 60S with a gentle breeze. Fairways are narrow and mostly uphill. The number 1 hole is tough to make par for average players. Number 18 is quite challenging since there is a tall tree in the middle of the fairway. You have to bypass the tree and let the ball roll down a severe hill. Then your next shot is downhill if you don't land it on a level ground. A bogey is a good score for this hole.
You will also enjoy the natural scenery with tall pine trees surrounding the fairways. The views are nice and the air is so fresh. It is the course you must play. Play the markers according to your skill levels and you will have a great time. Look for good deals online.

This course is a diamond in the rough. The Presidio is a great course with great value. If you join the Loyalty Club and you will get one point per dollar you spend. You can buy a breakfast for 30 points or you can cumulate points for food, drinks, merchandise, or even a round of golf. The course is in great condition but the bunkers need some work. Most bunkers are dry and hard. Its greens are generally slow with the exception of one or two. If you are used to playing in the East Bay, you will be short on every single putt. Almost all fairways are hilly with slopes on the left or right. Some fairways are uphill or downhill slopes. It is a challenging course but fun to play. It is much tougher to play in the afternoon when the wind is blowing out of control. No. 4, its signature short par-3 hole offers you the greatest opportunity to hit a hole-in-one among all par-3 holes. No. 12, the long par-4 hole, requires a precise tee shot and a long fairway shot in order to get onto the green in two shots. If you bogey, it is a good score.
The pro shop staff is very friendly and the cafe serves good food.
Green fees are great for locals and seniors but quite expensive for others. However, if you play here, you will like it. Bring more balls.

Metropolitan is a great municipal course with affordable green fees. The course is in great condition except some dry areas on the fairways. Greens are fast and well maintained. Many greens have multi-tiers. The course is short but it has water and other hazards. If you don't hit straight, it could be a tough course for you. No. 10, a par-5 hole is the most challenging hole. You have to hit three perfect shots just to make par! A few water tanks on the course and a plus for a hot day. It is easier to play early in the morning before the wind blows wildly in the afternoon. It has a real grass driving range and the practice area is also very nice.
Very friendly staff. A great venue for golf in the Bay Area.

Harding Park is a fantastic course especially with the recent improvements on the greens and sand bunkers. The fairways are in great condition and the tee boxes on usually on even ground. The course is long and straight and the roughs are longer than most courses. The practice greens are the best in the area and they are free! You can practice chipping and putting on greens very similar to those on the course. The driving range is the worst for any course of this kind of caliber. Rang balls are old and dirty. It seems like they never wash the balls. Most staff and very friendly except one or two. A gardener or sometimes he works as a marshal can be very rude and personal. He acts like he owns the course. Be sure to show up at least 30 minutes before your tee time, or you could lose it. Playing Harding Park is a great experience but it could be expensive if you are not locals.

Crystal Springs is a challenging course with a hilly setting and fast greens. The course is in average condition. There are many brown areas on the fairways and in the rough. Tee boxes are usually on uneven slope that may affect your drive. There are real rest rooms and cold water tanks on the course. Pace of play is slow especially on weekends. The staff is friendly. It is a scenic course in a convenient location but the green fees are on the high side.
