Rounded out the busy golf week with an RPGC tournament round at the home course on Sunday. My flight put me in the white tee box and we had a 12:30pm tee time on a very hot but gorgeous summer day in ... Continue »

This is a downhill and usually downwind tee shot. The green is elevated so there is no running it up onto the putting surface so be sure to pick a club that will carry. Plays 1 to 2 clubs less than stated yardage depending on the wind.

This hole has been recently been restored to its glory days, with the tee shot from the black tees being played out of the chute, the tee being set up next to the 13th green. From that tee, you must drive through an opening in the trees towards the top of a hill. The best target for line is the flag in the center of the fairway that sits about 250 yards out. After negotiating the tee shot, the approach shot to the green is much more problematic than from the forward tees, as you will have a medium iron instead of a wedge, and are hitting to a green that sits on a plateau. Don't even think of trying to run the ball up that steep slope that fronts the green; your approach shot has to fly all the way and then stop. A back pin will give you more room for error.
