On a rare Monday off I decided to finally get out with my neighbor and good friend. We had a 9:30 tee time and got out right on time. We were paired with a twosome on vacation from Korea. They spoke little English but were very nice and she had a great swing. The weather was questionable and we did get a few sprinkles. The greens were a bit wet and slow and a bit bumpy. The fairways were firm with many unfilled divots. The tee boxes were much improved after the renovations, the bunkers were full and fluffy and the rough was forgiving. The views are always amazing and I really enjoy this course when I can play a sub 5 hr round.

Got out later than usual today, so round was right on 5 hours. Greens have healed nicely from the aeration and all of them were in good shape and with good speed. Fairways were dry and running with the sun and warm temps, so tee shot placement was crucial, to avoid rolling into unwelcome territory. With all new bunkers, the only worry is that the previous occupant raked before they left? That seemed the case today. Staff was great with the service as usual. Even had a beverage cart on the course today, which was nice. However, the lack of a marshal was apparent, but did see someone from the pro shop on the course. Perhaps someone called in a complaint? But the overall condition is good and I would say the changes made have made the course play better.

Played Sunday mid-morning in very foggy weather, cleared up around 10am. Very slow out there, 5+ hour round which is expected at LV. Course in transition period which, to me, means thin patchy rough and recently aerated greens. Never know what to expect but today it looked like the greens crew took the day off: fuzzy slow putting surface and un-maintained bunkers. Fortunately, this can change day to day so hope for the best. In two weeks, the greens should be fine.

At LV for a men's club event this morning. A bit late off the tee but PoP was 4:10, incredible really. Greens were in nice Poa shape and running a bit faster than normal ... second aeration coming next week I heard (but did not verify). Kikuyu fairways a bit thin in many areas, the run out can put you in a difficult spot. Same with the rough ... it's a crap shoot. Some marked GUR. Bunkers are soft white sand, very well conditioned today. Tee boxes are firm ... bring a hammer.

Played this morning in 3.5 hours. Course was much improved from Monday. Greens were clean, cut and devoid of sand and running very well. Fairways had been cut and very few wet areas. Some of the fairways had damage from the local raccoon population. Maintenance was out and cutting the tee boxes and they were all in good shape. Though many of them needed more water as evidence of how hard it was to get the tee in on some. Sun was hot, temperature was warm, so I would expect the course to be in good shape by the weekend.

Played early AM and POP was right at 4 hours. Course is kind of "shaggy" around the edges right now. Many wet spots in fairways. Greens are healing nicely, no sign of previous fungus but still a lot of sand on the greens, nearly 3 weeks after punching. And it does affect the putts. Customer service was quick and neat this morning (thanks Mike) and Craig was keeping things moving as the course marshal. Did notice though that while all the tees have been done, there seems to be a lot of damage by not moving the teeing areas around enough. And due to the weekend players, the bunkers were in bad shape because of all those players who do not know what a rake is for. If your reading this American Golf? Please don't let this course go downhill after all the time and effort you put into it? That would be a shame.

Yep, all the 'remodeling' at LV is complete with Kikuyu tee boxes and a few front nine holes have removed or relocated bunkers. They must have forgot to fix the cart paths like they did on the back side. Front nine changes were not very dramatic, but gone are: the fairway bunker at the left corner of #1, the left greenside bunker on #3, front fairway bunker on left corner of #6 (gee, I think they removed the right fairway bunker on #7 but I could be wrong), the front right fairway bunker on #8, and the left greenside bunker on #9 ... so quite a bit now that I go hole by hole and I bet I missed a couple. This should lower the course rating and slope when they come to re-rate the course in December. Greens rolling good on the half not yet aerated, other side is mending nicely. Fungus problem in the Poa greens is real and needs to get under control ... saw more than one putt go off line on holes where it's present, mostly in shady areas. Also, this hot, dry weather really messes with the fairways here: they are dry, thin, and speedy ... does not make for the best of conditions. PoP acceptable for a Sunday, 7:15 tee time, at 4:30 ... glow balls still the culprit.

POP today was 3:45. All work is done. All tee boxes on front are open, all tee boxes on back are open (all new and leveled). All bunkers (with many removed) are complete. In my opinion, the work accomplished does speed up play (especially on the front). I will let you be your own judge on that, after you play. 1/2 of all greens have been aerated and healing seems to be taking place. No doubt next week they will finish aerating? However, there is still an apparent fungus on some of the greens (does not affect putting) that needs attending to. Overall the course seems in good shape.

Played 2pm on 9/19, 5hr round. Should have been 4.5 hrs but we were stuck behind a slow, senior walking foursome.

Overall, good conditions. Tee boxes seemed more un-level than level. Sand was white and fluffy. Greens and fairways are good. Nice views on back nine, no complaints. $29 w/ cart is great value for this course. Wish POP was faster. Waited on almost every shot.
