Pleasantly surprised this morning when our foursome teed-off at #1 very close to our scheduled time AND we didn't have any extended waiting at any of the following tees. Perhaps the overcast and mist/drizzle discouraged walk-ons from playing today. Most of the tees are moved forward this weekend and the greens are nearly recovered from aeration, though some are still producing bumpy rolls.

You would have known what you were getting into when you book a tournament at LV: tee time delays and a 6 hour round. BTW: you think that your $15 should bump someone who got up there the week prior at 4AM (or earlier) to get a start time??? Think about that for a minute ...

A group of us played at Los Verdes recently, and the views were spectacular. However, we were delayed 45 minutes, and it took six hours to play. Just way too many people on the course, on the practice range, on the greens. It was like a traffic jam. We realize revenue is a big issue, but sending out 5-somes every seven or eight minutes, especially when guys with 20+ handicaps feel they must hit from the blue tees, is unacceptable. As one of my members said, "there is no way I am coming back here, I've been here for eight hours!" Two of my members could not finish their round because of evening commitments. When groups pay a $15 per person tournament surcharge, they should be allowed to tee off at their contracted time regardless of any reasons for delay. All others who called in a week prior for a tee time should expect to wait.

Yep, aeration has begun at LV, half the green at a time. Conditions, otherwise, remain the same: no definition of fairway to rough, wire grass taking over, and the slowest play this side of the Atlantic. Book a time after 9am and you'll finish in 5-6 hours, no joke, and to book an early time you gotta camp out in your car ... unless you have a bud who works for AmGolf.

Played here for the first time! It's hard to get a Tee time. We got lucky...good Friday? The views are non peril! Just a beautiful course. Challenging...read the tips, which they also had printed out at the pro shop! Very cool! They had aerated 1/2 of the greens so they played as expected. Still pretty good shape. The starter kept people moving along by not letting them stand around and wait to hit. About a 5 to 5 1/2 hour long round! Maybe they shouldn't allow 5 some's? Might speed up play by implementing a 90 degree rule so players can bring back their errant T shot's back to the fairway? That seems to be the main reason for slow play, because everyone's waiting to hit t shot's that miss the fairway, and with 5 some's everywhere, you wait a long time. We got paired with a nice couple, man and girl friend and a 70 year old who could not find his 80/90 yard tee shot because of his "failing eye sight"? His bag fell off of his electric cart and he didn't hear it hit the pavement until my playing partner pointed it out to him! He tried all of our patience with no golf etiquette, Slow play, Hitting out of turn..stepping on lines...leaving the green before all were out.. Small things but if you spend 5 hours of it i recommend you get a 4 some! All in all, it is a wonderful experience because of the beauty of the course...bring your patience and pleasant attitude and take your time.

Played here for the first time on 03/31. Previous reviews of pace of play is no joke! Had an 11:50a tee time - didn't get to the first tee box until 12:30p and it looked like a traffic jam at the tee box - tons of people trying to tee off, no order/starter to help (that's the problem with the "take your money and find a spot" attitude I've found with some golf courses) Probably didn't help that I over heard a fight breaking out on the second hole...

Nevertheless, once you're on that box - all that disappears cause you get to take a look at the near 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. Throughout your (long) day, you'll continue to see that shimmering blue which was a treat. Who would of thought you can get views that places like Pelican and Trump get for a fraction of the cost!

Fairways were cut pretty thin, but have good color. Roughs were more forgiving than average. Greens rolled relatively nicely (some bumps here and there).

Not certain if I'd be willing to come back - it was a LONG day; backed up at every hole; fivesomes allowed, but not properly spaced by the non-existent starter. But the views are a bargain - you choose.

The conditions at LV fluctuate between poor and playable, as of yesterday both would be a complement. Event the poa greens, which usually roll true and hold like poa should hold, are in horrendous condition. They are tight and in need of areation (scheduled for next week), bumpy, and not fun to putt on. Maybe the course will shape up by mid-May. Fairways, basically, suck ... rough is even worse. Bunkers were looking good but the greenskeepers are clueless on how to prepare them so you get super soft sand that's uneven and lumpy. A 7:08 tee time going off at 7:35 and 5hr+ to finish. Why I continue to play here would require months of therapy to figure out.

Played an SCGA tournament on 4/2. The only nice thing I can say about this course is that the greens were nice. The fairways and rough looked EXACTLY ALIKE (bad) on almost every hole! I suppose if you want to look around at the ocean views then it's ALMOST worth playing but this course is in terrible condition. I won't be playing here again anytime soon. Really really disappointed!

Getting really tired of people acting as if its a shock that this course takes so long to play. A muni course, priced incredibly well, with incredible views and tough greens. Its gonna be a long round, accept it and move on. That being said, the course is in incredible shape right now....


Played on 3/13, 9:48 tee time...got off only about 10 mins later so they were really trying to keep things on pace. Fairways were in great shape, with only very few grounds under repair areas, but they were well marked and nowhere really where if you had hit a good shot it would affect you. The bunkers (fairways and greenside) seem to have all be worked on also, as it took me a hole or two to accept that they arent hard packed any longer and you can take a good cut at the ball.
As for the greens....great shape, but they will be punching them within the next week or so sadly. The greens are smooth and fast, and also quite firm...so you need some really good iron shots/wedges to keep close to the pin and avoid 3-putts.

All in all, being almost a year since I last got out on this track, it was really enjoyable to see it in great shape. Yeah, it took a little over 5 hours to finish but when I play this course, knowing the views ahead...and the madness the greens can sometimes cause (regardless of what it looks like, putts ALWAYS break toward the water) as long as you dont have anywhere to rush to, just enjoy what is without doubt one of the more enjoyable/scenic courses you'll play for less than $50 on a weekend w/ a cart.
