Played Wednesday morning 6:28 am tee-time. Signed up as a single, ended up playing with 2 other singles. Rate for 18 holes and a cart was $9.97 using my players club membership.

Had a two some in front of us and behind us, pace of plays was excellent at 2 hours 40 minutes. Never felt rushed.

Wonderful morning, 64 degrees at tee off into a settling fog. Could not see the green which twenty minutes earlier had been clear. Hit probably my best drive ever on this hole. We played in the fog for the first three holes, was actually pretty cool.

The two guys I was with were great fun, and better golfers, better ball strikers than I am. I would play with both again in a heartbeat.

Tee boxes on most holes were back. Surprisingly this eliminated my normal complaint for this course as they were actually on level ground. Needless to say with one exception I had a really good day off the tee box. The one exception had noting to do with the condition of the tee-box.

Bunkers were in spectacular condition, nicely raked, fluffy sands, no rocks. Had the opportunity to test a couple and the maintenance crew has done a really nice job.

Rough was generous, they are keeping it cut around three inches, for the second cut along the fairway, but thin along the many water hazards.

Despite some fairways being watered as we went out, the course played true, good grass coverage on the fairways, little mud, and no standing water.

Greens were in immaculate shape except for the few fresh un-repaired ball marks. Pin locations varied more than usual, a lot of tucked pins, and a few very front locations. They were rolling well, but the cup itself was rejecting balls. It was amazing how many balls, ran true to the cup to between one inch and the lip and then made a hard turn for all three of us.

The ambassador (I believe his name is Frank) was everywhere, we saw him several times during the round, everything was moving well, and he is a pleasure to talk with.

In all a great round on a course in very good condition, at a rate that is amazing, with people that are fun.

Played Wednesday 6/15/16 teeing off at 6:28 as a single. Using my Lake Forest Players Club membership paid $5.97 + .99 booking fee for 18 holes and a cart.

Course was in wonderful condition from tee to green. Had had a twosome in front of me and a threesome behind me through 9, after which the two guys in front of me peeled off and were replaced by two ladies walking. The ladies maintained a great pace until 18.

Tee boxes were the best I have seen them, but still not level. Fairways were in very good condition and the greens were perfect expect they had been sprayed green, leaving some dye color on my ball. But they looked great.

Rough was spotty and mostly deep, out of bounds forget finding the ball. I was missing left and right on holes that don't usually give me problems. Been playing so much and working on the house that the muscles are tight.

Really enjoyed the weather 60 degrees at tee off. Pace of play was just over 2.5 hours.

Late post. Played Casta Del Sol on Memorial Day 6:28am T-time, Players Club rate was $19.95 with cart. Payed with zingpoints cost me $0.99

Course was very busy, but they spaced the groups out well. We waited on a couple of holes for the foursome in front of us, but never long. Some of the groups ahead us were good golfers getting close to the pin, but poor at fixing ball marks which caused a little frustration.

Pace of play was great, at around 2.5 hours for 18 holes.

Greens were fast, but receptive, and in great shape.

Bunkers were deep, soft, receptive, and only one I saw had rocks, otherwise they were in very good condition.

Fairways had some brown spots, and were mown tight. Brown spots were places you should be anyway. Otherwise fairways were good.

As always the weakness of the is course are the tee boxes. We were early in the morning so the grass coverage as very good, but the boxes aren't level. Really hard to understand on holes where you play driver.

Service was excellent. Ambassadors (marshals) were active, saw one every couple of holes.

There was a closest to the pin game to support the Marines on the 13th hole, that was done with class.

Played with a father son team and another single. All the guys were great fun, made for a great morning of golf, I would play with any of them again.

Service in the club house, carts, course was excellent.

Played yesterday at 1pm for $20 off golf zing and that is about as much as I would pay for this course. Customer service was great like normal the starter was joking around saying he didnt believe i could drive the first green until i did and he said Crap its a good thing you know your golf game haha. As for the golf course it is in typical shape on a executive course is about what you would expect.

Tee boxes- a little disappointing the ground was so hard so on a few par threes it was hard to get under the ball. This caused a few wayward tee shots coming out hard and hot.

Fairways- the fairways are cut shorts and a few types of grass and dirt all over

Rough- slightly longer than the fairway and the same story dirt and grass

Greens- they were in great shape all though a tadd soft and slow it was consistent. Only issue s the people that dont fix their divots which is normal for a OC muni

Sand- a mixed bag of good and bad. one of the traps had a crusty top layer which was strange but easy to get out.


In all I like this course for practice but not much more. dont expect links at Terrana nice but for the price a nice little track.

Weather overcast cloudy, comfortable.

Tee boxes better than usual, still uneven, good grass coverage uniformly for all tees today.

Fairways nice, but damp, some standing water in a couple of locations. Some areas have recently been aerated, but they are not in normal landing zones.

Greens were in outstanding condition, as were the first and second cut of rough around the collars. Speed on the greens varied some were dryer than others, and speeds varied from fast to medium slow. Back 9 greens played slower than front 9 greens.

Bunkers were in good shape expect for #18 where apparently several people already out, don't know how to rake a bunker. The only bunker I was in the ball got stuck against the back of a deep foot print. All bunkers had full fluffy sand.

pace of play was uber fast, with 2 hours and 20 minutes, which included my letting a twosome behind me play through at the 10th. They had been on my heels, This course has some of the fastest walking players I have ever seen. One guy in a cart trying to keep up with his buddy walking. Talked to them later in the parking lot, they were bummed because the one guy played to 8 over. Nice guys. Fast though even with one guy taking time to hand feed the geese.

I had one player in front of my by two holes, I had the speed team behind me, but I started struggling at the 4th, and again at the 9th which allowed them to press. They never seid anything and didn't actually catch me, but I decided to wait and let them play through. I ended up waiting for them on 17 and 18.

Great morning of golf. As I was coming off the course a little after 8am, there was a line. Starter had said they were heavily booked. Felt good to get the round in early.

Wonderful morning of golf.
My buddy and I had a scheduled 7:16 tee time. He arrived early from Lakewood, and the starter got us our cart and out early. 6:50 start. We had a foursome in front of us, with one player in a cart, three walking and cloudy skies warning of rain. The group in front of us was supper fast, we let them get on the tee for the second before tee'ing off and never were held up by them.

The course was in good to very good condition. Some fairways had just been aerated so cart access was limited, and some seeding appeared to be going on in a couple of bare spots, but their was no impact to play. Despite the overnight rain, there was no standing water, and the ground was not over saturated, lift and clean was unnecessary. I would rate the fairways good to very good condition.

The greens were beautiful, firm but receptive, dry and quick. Rough around the collar of the greens was nicely cut, and the second cut of rough was lush. All 18 greens were in great condition. There were some geese hazards but not too bad.

The creeks were full and flowing, but the rough near the creeks were a little more generous than normal, saving me a couple of balls.

The bunkers were in very good shape, wet, but no standing water. Fortunately I wasn't in any of them.

The weakness of the course continues to be the tee boxes. They had all been moved before we arrived at the tees so the divots were not the problem, rather as usual there isn't a level tee box on the course. Some look level as you walk up, but invariably you find the ball above or below your feet. The condition isn't a show stopper but does detract from the excellent work the course is doing over all at providing a really nice experience. The grass coverage however is excellent.

First time eating at the clubhouse restaurant. Service was very good, food was better, as was the coffee. Price for two omelets coffee and OJ came to $21, and the view of the course in the rain was priceless.

So far the regulars who play this course in the morning, pre 8am tee times are some of the fastest golfers I have ever seen. Today was the longest round I have played in my last five, and that was 2.5 hours to the minute for 18 holes. I know it can't last, but really am enjoying it, and the discount rate provided by my players club membership. Seems to be easier to find discounted tee times as well.

Played Wednesday morning 4/27/16 - 6:36AM tee-time, price $19.97 with cart - Lake Forest Golf & Practice Center Players Club. Played as a single, was supposed to play with another single, but believe he started out about 10 min early and was the walking single two holes in front of me. Total time for 18 holes 2:24. The bulk of the course had just finished being watered when I played up, some areas were being watered as I played up. This created a new challenge for me. I have been a little off in my iron play, however with the fairways being saturated I duffed several shots as the club head decelerated rapidly as I struck the ball. I treated it as a post rain/play in the rain challenge. Fairways were in very good shape, the staff was out sanding divots on several holes as I played and I was warmly greeted. On one hole the grounds keeper was kind enough to act as a forecaddie for me. The overall condition of the fairways were very good, however there was a little more visible brown on a couple of holes particularly #1 than last week. The greens were in excellent condition, receptive, few ball marks. I just could not get the speeds right, but they rolled true. I was apparently reading much more break in some than actually existed. The collar of rough around the greens were in really good condition, both first and second cuts. The tee boxes were mostly in good condition, as I hit the back nine I was ahead of the team moving the tees so had some rough spots, but they were mostly Par 3s where I use a tee. Divots were sanded. My only complaint was on the 14th where the tee had interference from a sprinkler head during set up. Bunkers were in excellent condition, whoever is raking and getting the ready in them morning is doing a great job. Overall conditions were very good. Pace of play was excellent as the only golfer in front of me was a single two holes ahead, and the nearest golfers behind were between a twosome, two and three holes behind me. I virtually had the course to myself or so it felt, especially on the back 9. It didn't effect me but right now there are a lot of ducks, geese and rabbits with the usual reminders especially near water or on the greens. Great morning, great price, great time. Struggled a little, but learned some things that I think will make me better. Played to my usual double bogey, with way to many three puts, but none of the misses were the result of the condition of the greens.

Played Casta del Sol this morning with a scheduled 6:44 tee time. Starter sent me off at 6:36 as a single. Played 18, in 2 hours 24 minutes. Had no one in front of me, and a fast twosome pushing me for 9 holes from behind. Pace of play would have been even faster, but I was playing behind a quick grounds crew, and had to wait on a couple of occasions for sprinklers, mowers, and to have the tee boxes reset.

Price for 18 using my Lake Forest Players Club Membership booked online (only way to schedule a tee time for Casta del Sol with the membership) was $19.99 with cart.
Greens are completely healed, and except for a very few ball marks were as perfect as greens can get. First and second cuts of rough looked were near perfect as well. Really enjoyed the greens. In the early morning with some dampness they rolled medium fast, and got faster as the round went on and the temperature moved from the low to upper 60’s.
The bunkers were in perfect condition. I looked at most of them, and got to sample five of them. All were fluffy, well sanded, no rocks, and perfectly raked. They look like the crew were auditioning for a PGA event. Machine raked centers, with perfect vertical rakes around the edges. The only weird part and it didn’t affect me, was that on many holes the rakes were in the bunkers.

Fairways were lush, and freshly mowed as I played with no clippings. The course is defended by topography, water, and narrow approaches. Rough was consistent with little or no bare ground.
The tee boxes were a mixed bag. Playing behind the grounds crew they were moving the tees to new locations. When I got there the boxes were level, and lush. After I passed the ground crew a number of tee boxes were level, but especially on the par 3’s chewed up pretty bad. I use a tee off the par 3’s so was not affected, but it could be hard for someone who elects to play off the grass.

Pro shop was much friendlier and more helpful than my last round last year. The facility was in excellent condition, all round.
Look forward to playing here again next week.

went out at 3pm yesterday to get a tune up for Pechanga and man this course has show sign of the drought. This course was never in good shap but this might be the worse ive seen it ever. They cut down a few of the forest sections and its a nasty, dirty, smelly swamp now. Just a lot of stagnate water. As for the course they seem to water only the green and there are green but not well maintained. we had 2 greens that had different lengths of grass on the same hole. make for interesting putting. The fairways look to be watered maybe once a week (IF THAT) and patches of dirt through out. Sand was absolutely horrible and hard panned. There was no difference between the fairway and the rough as it was the same length and condition. This course is only good for working on short game target practice but not much else. for 22 uck to ride and get a free beer it is worth the green fee to practice but dont expect anything great.

One tip is BRING A HARD HAT AND NOSE PLUG
