Played today, 11-8-15. I've played this course many times over the past 10 years and today the conditions were the best i've ever seen there. The fairways, though half browned, had good even coverage with no areas under repair that interfered with play. There were a couple of slightly swampy approaches but it was so nice that the course did not have it's usual sewer smell. The greens were soft, quite fast and, quite surprisingly, very few un-repaired ball marks. I was in 2 bunkers and they were both clean and soft. We finished in about 3 hours, had lunch and then played another 9. I hope that the course stays as nice as it was today. It's very close to home and I would enjoy playing there more often.

Greens were decent, a little slow for my taste. Greenside bunkers appeared OK, although I did not find any. I try to play here a couple times a year just for a change and it allows me to hit a lot of irons.

Played here with my son with a 4:59 tee time again today. Booked through SCGA.org for $11.65 walking rate per player. Teed off about 10 minutes late and the front nine pace was agonizingly slow. We watched the twosome in front of us play the entire hole ahead of us on all nine holes. (Not their fault; whole course seemed slow/busy.) Thankfully things accelerated significantly on the back and we finished almost in the dark, just about 3 hours after we started.

Conditions are very playable. Lots of ball marks on the greens but otherwise good condition and medium fast, very accepting of shots. Lots of poa this late in the day, but for the most part putts rolled pretty good. Several fairways have big areas of new sod that looks fantastic but is currently roped off as GUR. I assume that will be playable soon. Elsewhere coverage is mostly good but there are bare spots here and there. Rough was a mixed bag. Tee boxes were fine. Neither one of us was in a bunker. All in all, very worthy of $11.65 rate.

My son and I had a 4:59 tee time here today. I booked through the SCGA site for a walking rate of $11.65 per player. We checked in around 4:40 and were told we could follow the group on the tee. Weird weather out there as it felt like a blustery, humid summer afternoon in Oklahoma, and we even got sprinkled on a few times. As a twosome following a foursome, pace of play was not great but not too terrible, either. Fortunately everyone ahead of us seemed to quit after nine, so the back nine was wide open. Total POP was around 3:05.

Conditions are good right now, highlighted by really good greens. They are lush, tight poa that seemed incredibly smooth for being so late in the day. I haven't played here much lately, but I grew up playing this course and never recall the greens being in this nice of condition back then. Greens are also soft and accepting of shots. The fairways were a bit splotchy, but the good parts were quite good. Rough was probably a little better conditioned than the fairways and cut rather short, nothing too penal. Tee boxes were fine and the few bunkers I was in were all good. For $23 for two players, quality time spent with my son, fitting in a full 18 holes after work on good greens – I can't ask for much more than that! (Although my son did gripe about not having a cart!)

I couldn't NOT cruise back to Casta del Sol after a late-rnd Saturday. The greens are as good as they've ever been. They seemed a little faster Tuesday than they were Saturday. I doubt it was just due to later-day-round, but I didn't ask if they were rolled.

The 3pm-round for $23 w/ a cart and 2-drinks (water, gatorade or beer) is a deal w/ daylight-savings-time almost assuring a round's finished if/when it's not packed.

The course is in pretty good shape compared to what was experienced last week in Temecula.

Casta will punch half of the greens at a time beginning in April, so all 18 will remain playable during it's maintenance.

Didn't want to battle the predicted winds/rain, so Ithought a quick early morning round at Casta Del Sol was the answer. Good choice, as I was able to get around in just under 2 hours. Almost perfect weather: low 70's, a mild breeze. This is January in So Cal. Eat your heart out east coast - enjoy the snow !

Course was as expected. Greens being the best part. Fairways thin at best, rough is hit or miss. Bunkers appeared OK, although I didn't get into any. I try to play here at least once a year, as it is quick, cheap and a fun little track with a few par 3 holes.

This course put in those 15" pins on all the greens, they have a checkered flag on the pole, so you know which one is which when you are looking out at the green. 17 holes it didn't get in my way..but 1 hole it did..so I curse the idea...*LOL*

Bunkers were pretty darn good I must day....sort of shocked to be honest.
Green were not in bad shape, lots of ball marks, slow-medium speed.

all In all, not a bad course when you get a sweet deal....today was $12, so that is Sweet+

We go here a couple of times per year and its not great but it is getting better in spots. the course has no par 5s and the short par 4s dont bother me , but the cost does it aint cheap to play here and it should be in better shape for what they charge . I understand they get plenty of customers and some of them dont have to much experience but its to hot in this little valley to suffer fools and there seem to be plenty. The par 3s are interesting and the greens are small enough to keep it interested so if you want to work on your short game give it a try . They do ask for a credit card # when a reservation is made and they will charge you if you no show ( no this has never happened to me ) The layout is ok but kinda dangerous with all the up and back golf so keep your eyes and ears open . I will play here again and probably shouldnt bag on it to much but I almost never feel great about it, the customer service isnt great . They are famous for sending out fivesomes then 3 groups of 2 I dont know why but it makes no sense anyway give it a go on cool day it might be your thing ,but please yell FOUR now and then mission hospital is expensive .

It's been about a year since I last played here and was surprised how nice the greens are. With the drought I didn't expect much in the way of conditioning, but it was about what I expected. Playable but a bit "rough around the edges" Staff was great and since I was first off, finished in under 2 hours. Very pleasant day and a nice change of pace from the "big" courses. Lots of birdie opportunities
