Played on 1/4 at 10am. There was nobody there due to the rain. This course is one of the few values left in Orange County. It's only $30 to play during the week to walk. It was raining and windy all day, but the course drained well and the greens rolled nicely considering the conditions. I would say the two courses at Mile Square are a great value. Played the "Players" course last week and it was in good shape. I am a little partial to the "Classic" because I grew up playing the original Mile Square track years ago, when it was under $20 to play there. I like some of the holes from the "Players" because it has incorporated some old holes from the original 18 and has turned them from mediocre holes into fantastic holes. The "Classic" has more trees (with the exceptions of #'s 8 & 9 on the "Players"), and the "Players" is a little more wide open. I suggest the "Classic" because it's a little more narrow, especially the front nine. The new holes that were added to make the back nine of the "Classic" (#'s 14-17) are very wide open and feel a little more like the "Players" course than the "Classic". I think the designer didn't recognize this, otherwise there would be more continuity with these 4 holes and the rest of the course. Likewise with #'s 8,9,18 on the "Players" course; they feel like they should be part of the "Classic". Even though this course is a little scitzophrenic, they are great to play and they are reasonably priced. They are also in decent shape as well.
