played today in the afternoon, had the day off. pace of play was great, 4 hours for the afternoon, it was pretty open out there. course plays tough as usual, tee boxes were generally in good condition. fairways were also well maintained, however the rough was very inconsistent, i believe they are making a transition between grasses. so some places are bare, some are GUR, and some are thick. greens were covered in ballmarks, and also about 13 of 18 greens were aerated with small holes, of course there was no mention of this when booking nor when checking in. bunkers were awful, many were hard with barely a top dressing of sand in them. customer service okay, cart girl was by 3 or 4 times. overall pretty decent though the course beat me up, but still overpriced as usual. it's a $50 course condition wise but their $130 rack rate is pretty silly IMO.

My Summary:
Overall, the course is an OK layout with a few interesting holes, and they do a good job of making you feel like you're not in the middle of an industrial park area. And although there are many parallel holes, you don't feel it at all due to the mounding and trees between holes. But the layout just isn't that compelling, the conditioning is pretty spotty, and the service was mediocre. If it were a $49 course I'd say it was a decent bargain, but at the prices they charge - no way. For a course that pretends it is a higher end facility, the service and course conditions were way, way below their sister property Pelican Hill.

More details:
The practice range was large but surprisingly crowded, with teeing area pretty chewed up. Range balls are overpriced at $12 for a small bag.

Course conditions overall were so-so. The teeing grounds were fine, and the fairways were generally pretty good. The rough was quite long in many places, and if you didn't see exactly where it went in it was pretty hard to find.

The greens were mostly OK, but looked to be recently punched and about half of them were still covered with a lot of top dressing and were a bit bumpy from the aeration. There were an amazing amount of unfixed pitch marks on the greens though - it didn't take any effort to find at least a dozen marks to fix in just part of the green.

Bunkers were simply lousy. Quite a few of the greenside bunkers had been so overwatered that they were a soggy, muddy mess. Several had GUR signs in the bunker in the middle of a runoff area, but finding a spot that was acceptable and still in the bunker was tough. Fairway bunkers weren't soggy but ones our group ended up in were often too firm, with just a skiff of sand over the underlying mud.

Other gripes were the maintenance staff on course. We had one guy mowing around a green and he wouldn't bother stopping and moving to the side while we were hitting approaches. Another guy mowing rough drove right alongside one of our players while he was hitting. And another guy driving a big mower decided he had to cut in front of us on the cart path where two paths converged, forcing us to hit the brakes to avoid hitting him and then we had to slowly follow him across the bridge and down the path for a while breathing in the belching exhaust the hole way. Apparently the management has neglected to let the maintenance staff know that they are overhead, the golfers are profit.

Also regarding the service, the starter wasn't surly but he certainly wasn't very friendly either. He seemed annoyed being asked where the nearest restroom was before we teed off, and basically just took our receipt and pointed to the first hole. Restaurant service after the round was sloooooooow. The food was OK, but simply getting menus and an order in took way too long, and drink refills never happened.

Played this morning 5/20 at 8:10am. Pace of play was grey and walked off the 18th green at 12:05, so just under 4hrs which was great. Course is in awesome shape right now and it's the best I have seen the greens and fairways. But like Bogey said, the sand traps are horrendous right now, with minimal sand and a lot of "concrete" like bunkers. Other than that the course is fantastic and playing really good. Greens were holding approach shots and wedges very nicely and rolling smooth and true on putts.

Big difference since I last played here was that they have flipped the course. You finish the round with the old number 9 par 5 down the lake with a hard second shot if your gutsy enough to go for it!

Played 5/15/13 @ 950a. Course was in decent shape but the sand traps are horrible! What happened to the sand? It's just dirt now! On top of that, some are hard packed! I'm so used to this place being in top level conditioning, the sand traps really let me down. All other aspects of the course were good to great. I just can't get over how the sand traps became neglected! I don't think Fazio designed this course thinking they would start using dirt in the traps. I was disappointed to say the least, good thing I didn't pay rack rate because right now I wouldn't pay $40 to play here.

I got a $122 rate on click4teetimes, which I think makes this a good value. I would even consider paying a little more for the conditions were that good.

Played here yesterday. They punched the greens the two prior days. We knew this going in, but couldn't pass up the $55 green fee. Have played this course many times and knew that even on its worse day this course is top notch. Wasn't disappointed one bit. Service impeccable as usual, and greens were remarkably playable for the day after. I'm not an expert, but can testify that their crew takes extra care in making the greens playable after maintenance. They take some extra care in sweeping the sand back into the plug holes and then do some extra watering. I suggest you get out there before that price shoots back up. Played in 4.5 hours as well. Bonus!

Played early this morning and it was a lot of fun and very scenic. great course with a very challenging but fair layout (unlike some courses). You can score low but it takes some good shotmaking and solid putting as the greens have enough undulations to make any putt outside of 5 feet a tough one. Greens were in great shape outside of 12 which the coots had gotten to. The bunkers were very consistent either desert, waste style bunkers or heavy sand greenside bunkers (very tough with heavy grass lips).

Overall a really nice course that wont disappoint and is worth the repeat visits. Price isnt cheap but is worth a trip every once in a while, especially if you get that Oak creek card.
