I've played here dozens of times and the course was in the worst shape I've ever seen it, except for times when the fairway or greens were punched. The fairways had many thin or even bare spots, and the greens were in "B" condition. In addition, it took us 4 hours and 45 minutes to play on a Thursday morning. Thus, the course was not worth the $105 green fee, and I was frankly surprised to see that it was rated "great" by previous reviewers.

The course is well cared for. Almost every aspects (tee box, fairway, greens, pace of play) was great. Of course the heat and humidity might have kept the crowds to a minimum. We started at 4pm and finished before 7:30. Although we were but a twosome, the two 4somes ahead of us played very quickly and we waited only on 2 (very long) par 3s. The greens were consistently immaculate. The only complaint I have is about the bunker. The sands were packed down but at least they were all like that. The staffs were great. Everybody from the pro shop down to the cart boys made us feel welcome. With this enviroment, it was well worth the $70 twilight fee for a relaxing afternoon of golf.

Played Fri. 07/21/2006 for the first time. Teed off at 4pm for Twilight rate of $85. Was 2nd to last group to finish at 8:15 pm. Course is in good shape. Greens are rolling True. There are some thin spots on almost all the fairways. Lots of wide open fairways and big greens makes this course very enjoyable to play. Cost can be steep but the course looks very mature even though it is relatively young. Lots of great looking mature trees. The Irvine company did a great job of creating a aesthetically pleasing course. Other then the commuter train coming through every 10 minutes (it was Fri rush hour) you could hardly tell you were in the middle of Irvine. Would love to play this course again but wouldn't be able to afford doing it to often.

Course is in beautiful condition. Had a Monday 7:00 a.m. tee time but driving range did not open until 6:30 am. Got a few warmup strokes in with the $9.00 balls, a bit steep for a small bag. The senior rate (55 and older) at $65 for the M-TH was a good value for an OC course of this quality. No GPS but the small cooler with ice and two bottles of water were a nice touch. Good coverage by the cart girl. Four or five holes were cart path only. Yardage markers on sprinkler heads were sufficient but cart path markings could have helped on the cart path only holes. Only complaint on conditions was the amount of moisture on parts of the fairways. A bit soggy in some areas but generally excellent conditions. Five sets of tees offer a great track for high and low handicappers. Clubhouse is modest for a course of this price range -- good restaurant but no shower facilities. Practice facilities are the best in the area with a large grass driving range, chipping and sand area and two nice putting areas. No more freebies on the chipping area, you have to rent the ball tubes for $5. Shag-bags not allowed. Overall, not a great value at the $145 posted for weekend rates and $105 posted for weekdays; but if discounted, a great value.

Played 6/1 for 1st time and really enjoyed the course. Fairways pretty forgiving, tight lies in front of greens made it easy to putt from the fringe. Everything in very good shape except like a lot of courses the sand in the bunkers was just OK. Group in front was slow so the marshall actually made them move up a hole to speed up play. Paid $65 with a member and for that price it was well worth it.

Great course just a little spendy- I've come to accept prices in the OC now though! It was a very challenging course with a great finishing hole! Some great par fours on the back side!

This was my 1st time playing Oak Creek. Played 8:30 11/28 and we were able to go out as a twosome. Course was in superb shape; fairways were lush and the greens were fast & smooth. The back-9 greens had been punched in the last couple of weeks but the marks were small and unobtrusive. Fairways are wide and bowl-shaped so your tee shots tend to roll back toward the middle. Take advantage of this fact as the rough, even just feet from the fairway is thick and you'll have to do some hunting to find your ball. Most greens are heavily protected. Pin placements on this particular day were tough with lots of 'sucker pins' close to water or the deep greenside bunkers. The two tiered greens were very quick and putting downhill pretty much guaranteed a long 2nd putt back up the hill. No GPS on the carts was a disappointment and sometimes sprinkler heads seemed a little sparse. The service couldn't have been better and everyone in the clubhouse, practice range, restaurant and cart barn were friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean and I didn't see one broken tee on the tee boxes, despite a shortage of trash bins. I rarely play in Orange County, so I don't really know how Oak Creek's $95 weekday rate compares to the competition. But, if it's within your golf budget, I would recommend it highly.

Played a huge 36 holes here on Thursday 09/29. The course is in fair shape. With that said, I found that a few fairways were pretty thin in areas and a little too damp in others, so even though you are in "position A" after a good drive, it's not always that way. The greens were great - nice and true. The morning round was played at perfect pace, however, watch out for Thursday afternoons - it was unbelievably slow which spoiled the second round completely.
