played today 5-28. The positives, course conditions were good to great. Greens rolled true with decent speed to them, fairways and teeboxes nice and manicured, range balls included with green fee.
The bad, greenside bunkers on holes 11-13 played more like a wasteland(no sand, just dirt and large pebbles) and forecaddies is mandatory. Didnt think our caddy was very helpful.

Played the same day as the last reviewer. That review is spot on. This place is incredible, that club house is something else. I didn't pull out driver until the first par 5 which I think was hole 8. The course is relatively short but with the wind blowing made them play a little longer. After hole 8 I'd say things open up a little bit more. There is trouble also off the tee so you really had to pick and choose your shots wisely. I thought the pins were in some pretty tough locations because the greens have some big breakers. I don't think the greens were all that fast. There is almost 2 roughs the thick stuff that sits right off the fairway and the tall grass (British Open type stuff) also through the course. It was impossible to find your ball if you hit it into that. I did find two sand traps and one was good and the other was thin. Also as the last reviewer said holes 11-13 are the best holes on the course. I wish I was closer so I could play this a litte more often but it is on the pricey side which is why I said 50/50 to the fee.

Day after playing the North Course, I got to play the South. I believe South is more eye candy than the North was. The best memories were Holes 11-13!

Day after playing the North Course, I got to play the South. I believe South is more eye candy than the North was. The best memories were Holes 11-13!

The fairways were more narrow than the North Course. Opening holes were nicely lined with trees that isolate you from the rest of the world. There were also a few holes with forced carries that were both challenging and memorable.

Play smart and you'll keep out of trouble - and give you more time to enjoy the scenery!

Played Pelican Hill South yesterday 3/10/11. It is an absolute treat to play this course. It was much tighter than I thought it would be and there were a lot more trees than I was anticipating as well. The views were amazing and the holes challenging! I very much enjoyed playing this course... Now for the nitpicking. The greensfees are $250+ and for that kind of money I expect perfection. I was a bit disappointed in some areas. The greens were very inconsistent meaning a couple greens actually had punch marks and sand over them. Another green just had sand. The rest were pretty good. It was hard to get a good feel for speed because they didn't all roll the same. There was also quite a bit of scarring on the greens from pitch marks not being fixed properly. We also had a caddy who wasn't very good at all. Unfortunately for us we were his first foursome EVER. Not good. At one point he was trying to give me yardage and I told him he was wrong...he had the yardage book out for the North course! I also found my playing partners clubs in my bag quite a few times during the round. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the day and had a great time but again for $250 I expect a little more.

Played this course four times a week for a year with my high school golf team, it is amazing and you are treated like royalty. They have cheap father son discounts for twilight, only $40 each.

This place is great as usual. Got to play for the $125 rate, not bad for a sunday morning when the weather is 80 and perfect.

The greens were running 12 on the stimpmeter and perfect. Everything was perfect. First class all the way around. Forecaddies rock. Enjoy

Played for first time on Saturday 5/22/10. Spectacular. Fortunate to have perfect weather conditions, but even in less than perfect conditions, the course was perfect. First hole sets the tone, with beautiful downhill par 4 and ocean in view. Great variety of holes. Some classic tree lined holes, some which feel like holes I have played in Hawaii, and some that have a Bandon Dunes feel. Awesome views on almost every hole. Smooth true rolling greens, great bunkering, and classic Fazio-fairways which steer slightly errant tee shots back towards the middle. However, shots more off-line will get swallowed up by bunkers or deep rough. Very fair test, great customer service, and will always be among my all time favorite courses. If possible, stay at the resort, which is equally impressive, and provides 5-star customer service. Try the Pelican Grill after your round for drinks and / or food. Can't wait to go back, and try the North course. Must play....A++
