Rode the Purple tees (6676/72.1/136) in 4H, 20 on dawn patrol using Forelinx. Paired with Joey, Lou and Mike, all visiting Canadians. The weather was clear, fairly calm and around 75. Playing conditions were excellent bording on immaculate across the board. The tees were very nice. Lush and level with few divots. The fairways are lush, firm and really nice to play from. The rough is lush and mowed down. Good POP rough, not overly penal. Really nice to chip from. The waste bunkers were firm and not as well maintained as the greenside traps. The greenside traps had good quality sand and were very nicely maintained. The greens putted medium fast bordering on fast. Smooth and firm, I had 4-6' coming back AD. Customer Service always excellent here from when you drop your clubs off out front to when you pick them up out front. Drink cart out making the rounds several times. Good GPS on carts. Plenty of ice/water stations on the course. The all grass driving range is included and above average. Nice practice chipping area. Highly recommended, one of my favorite courses in the Palm Springs area.

Rode the Purple tees (6676/72.1/136) in 2H, 45M midday using Forelinx. The weather was clear, calm and around 110. The tees were mostly lush. Level with few divots. The fairways were lush, firm and nice to play from. The rough is mostly lush and mowed down, Good POP rough, not penal. Generally nice to play from. The green side traps had good quality white sand and were decently maintained. The waste bunkers were firm and not as well maintained as the green side traps. The Bermuda greens were firm, somewhat bumpy and medium speed. The customer service is always excellent here from when you drop your clubs off out front to when you pick them up out front. The all grass driving range is included and above average. Nice chipping area. Drink cart out making the rounds. Good GPS on carts. Plenty of ice/water stations on the course. Definitely recommended.

Rode the Purple tees (6676/72.1/136) in 3.5H twilight. The weather was clear, fairly calm and around 105. Picturesque emerald green layout with a generous amount of white sand, nativescape and water to keep players on their toes. From tee to green, the course was in excellent condition. The greens are transitioning back to Bermuda and were more spotty than the rest of the course. The tees were excellent, level, lush with few divots. The fairways are lush, firm and really nice to play from. The rough is lush and mowed down. Good for POP, not penal and nice to chip from. The greenside traps had good quality white sand and were well maintained. The waste bunkers are firm and much more hit/miss. The Bermuda greens were just okay. Firm, fairly smooth and medium speed. They are about to be aerated and they look like they need it. Customer Service exceptional from when you drop your clubs off out front to when you pick them up out front. Cart gal out making the rounds. All grass driving range is included and above average. Good GPS on carts. Plenty of ice/water stations on the course. One of my favorite Palm Springs area public layouts, highly recommended.

Played Firecliff on 5/2/18 with a 8:10 tee time, starting off my 72 holes in two days outing. Always one of my favorites and for me always in the top 3 of Palm Springs golf. Day started off quite cold and rainy with winds blowing about 25 mph making any good score unlikely. Rain stopped about a third of the way through our round but heavy winds persisted. Customer here rivals any of the big time public courses you can think of. They certainly care about the players and cater to your every need. Simply put this is one of the Nicest and most well maintained course you will ever come across.
Practice facilities are some of the best if not the best for any course I've played in the valley. The highlight is the practice green, which can be misleading to actual course conditions, not here however it was a perfect match to conditions experienced on the course.
Tee boxes , level perfectly groomed and little to no damage its a 10 here. Fairways green lush and with little to none divot damage left unrepaired, providing fair roll. another 10. Rough is penal, how penal will depend on how bad your shot was, on this day it was devastating as wind blew balls everywhere and anywhere!! Another 10. The bunkers here are dubious and frightening, deep with great sand and acceptable recovery rates if your skilled ion all recovery shots, miss it however and bogey or double bogey comes into play. Slap another 10 down for the sand. Now the greens, fast, faster and fastest. Breaks from every angle, undulations, and some of the hardest collection areas I have ever seen. No damage noted on any green complex to be seen. This course has everything you would want, fair challenge, terrific views, and if your not thinking or trying to bite off to much penalties lurking everywhere. Play it if you haven't already

My second day at Desert Willow Golf Resort was Friday 4/20 on the Firecliff Course. It’s a more dramatic layout than the Mountain View Course which my friends visiting from Colorado were taken back by. Plus the golf course was in fantastic shape. I’d say immaculate. Best conditions I’ve ever experienced out there. Greens running fast, smooth and holding shots. Fairways and Rough very lush. Bunkers in excellent condition. Tee boxes well groomed and cared for. I gave it 9 out of 10 ratings across the board.

I love this course more and more every time I play it. Friday we played the Purple tees and it gave me all I could handle. It’s loaded with risk/reward holes, beautiful views, beautiful landscaping, tons of bunkers, challenging yet fair greens, the place has it all.

We teed it up just before 8:00am and finished in 4 ½ hours. After golf we grabbed a bite to eat on the patio which is spectacular. It views holes #9 and #18. Service is excellent as was the food.

They have excellent practice facilities to get your game warmed up. Big gorgeous clubhouse. You know you at a resort course with fun day ahead.

played firecliff today. When I called to find out the conditions of the course they said everything was fantastic, come on down, you will love us. A few Fairways were punched. I hate when the people at any Pro shop just FLAT OUT LIE just to get you to pay the Astronomical amount of green fees. Greens were good and fast, plenty of sand in bunkers, Tee boxes were nice and cut and fairways (all but 4 fairways) were very good.

Played the Purple tees (6676/72.1/136) with Jake, Tommy & Andy twilight in 4 1/2 hours. The weather was around 80, clear and breezy. Firecliff is well above average even by the high standards of the Palm Springs area. Beautiful layout, solid course, not tight off the tee but there is plenty of trouble to avoid as you approach the greens. Numerous lakes, large deep traps and desert scape lurking just off most fairways and around most greens are penalty strokes waiting to happen. Numerous fairways appear tight from the tee vantage point. However, this is much more of a grip it & rip it course than 1st impressions imply. I find most of the fairways are generous in width once you get out over 175 yards from the Purple tees. The tees were mostly lush with even the par 3's fairly well maintained for divots. The over seeded fairways were very lush. Firm with a decent amount of roll. The over seeded rough was excellent to play out of. The ball sat up and even playing longer clubs was a viable option. Immaculate, very nice to chip out of. The traps had thick sand that was very difficult to play from. Decently maintained, rarely do I comment that the sand is too thick and deep... but these were exactly that. The greens were firm, smooth and quick. Few ball marks and good luck on numerous greens if above the hole. The customer service was exceptional from all encountered. The drink cart was out making the rounds & complementary range balls are included with your round on a great practice facility. One of my favorite courses in the Palm Springs area, highly recommend.

While not quite as pristine as Desert Willow Firecliff was just around six weeks ago, it's still in very good shape just before reseeding and one of the only places in the Palm Springs area right now that's delivering a quality experience during this transitional phase of the year.

The fairways are not quite as green as they were recently, but completely playable and you'll never really find a bad lie anywhere. The greens were a little slower and drier than weeks ago, but still rolled very true and held shots incredibly well. Rough was in great shape - penal and lush. And the bunkers and tee boxes were both in very good shape throughout the course.

Super fun layout that keeps getting better and better each time I play the course. It's very challenging and if you let anything get loose, you can leave a hole with a big score, which I unfortunately did twice to cancel out what otherwise was a very good round. Price for a Friday afternoon ($140) is a bit steep but when you play the course it's justified, and again, especially when so many other courses in the area are either closed for reseeding or just coming out of it and not quite ready for prime time.

It was hot out there so seeing the cart service around a few times was great, and there were a good number of ice and water stations around to help keep you cool. Great place to play and it will surely be in prime shape again very soon after the fall maintenance.
