Played Goose Creek day before Thanksgiving. Very, very, nice. The course is in great shape. I have to say this course is probably the best maintained course in the IE. Plush fairways like emerald carpets. The greens putt true and were on the + side today. I will guess that they played about a nine on the stimp. A few greens had some spots that need tending, but am willing to allow that in the spring they should be in great shape.

Pace was a bit slow. Per the staff they were not expecting the crowd that was there today, so it is to be expected. I really can't complain though, we started at about 1 and darkness had us withdraw after 17 holes.

The best practice facilities around, except for the chipping green. Just fairway grass cut down and the practice bunker is in the firing line of the range., The short game area near the Academy looks tempting, but not sure if one can practice there when the academy is not in session. As an aside, if you have a kid bring them here. They seem to specialize in helping junior golfers as I saw a few juniors on the range.

Staff as always is great.

Love this place. Am looking forward to my next round.

Very good practice range, all grass, however, grass on range was better than on course.

Fairways: Green, but thin in many areas. I hit a decent amount of fairways off tee, but found several very thin, almost hard pan lies. Other time good, but just not as lush as I have seen in the past.

Greens: Very good condition. A little faster than I have seen, and quite smooth. Good roll.

Bunkers: Just slight below very good. Just a hair thin, but very playable.

Good service throughout. One of my favorites IE courses. Can be a little "ripe" from the cattle next door, but nothing to keep you away. Fairly falt course, but a nice variety, although 1 and 10, as well as 2 and 11 are quite similar. Great value and a solid trio of finishing holes, which could make or break your round.

Highly recommend.

Played the Goose on Friday, 11/15/13, and found the course in very good (but not 'great') condition, tee to green. As previously stated, some greenside bunkers are thin and a challenge, but the greens are rolling exceptionally well at medium quick speed. The Goose is not a terribly difficult course and scores should reflect that, however, the par 3's have good length and there are several H2O hazards which can add a penalty stroke or two if you get careless. PoP was just under 4 hours, $39 walking/senior. Recommended. Normally, I wouldn't post a similar review right behind two others which are both accurate, but I'm trying to make the top 5 by the end of the year and need 20 more reviews to pass Ring and Ohpoh :)

Very good greens quick, yet receptive. Very good conditions, always booked, but good 4.25 hour pace. The best practice facility in the area.

Course is in amazing shape for November. Lush and green fairways and rough. Tee boxes are above average, some needed a trim but the crew was working on them in the morning so maybe they just hadn't gotten to them yet. Played at 7:30am. Pace was 4 and 1/2 but would have been faster, group in front was slow and at least 1 hole behind. Greens were deceptively quick but also with some patchy spots. Greenside bunker on par 5 7th ruined my round. One of those times you hit a full bunker shot, feel a hard thud, see it take off, look down and it's hardpan under a thin layer of sand. Put some sand in the d%mn greenside bunkers please! That's my one and only complaint. Love this course overall though.

Date played: 11/11/13 Tee time: 6:53 am # of players: 4 Green fee: $49 w/cart Tee box played: Blue tees My handicap: 16.8 Pace of play: 4:30 Course facilities: Hands down, one of the nicest practice facilities in all of Southern California. All grass hitting bays, chipping area and large practice putting green. Well defined target areas on the range, the range conditions are as nice as the course. Clubhouse is nothing special. Nachos were really good and a 6 pack of coors light 12 oz. cans are $18. Course conditions: Really nice conditions, they may have recently overseeded because the fairways were glowing. Some of the greens had some dead spots but it didn't seem to come into play for me. Greens rolled quick especially after the sun came out. Rough is in beautiful condition, a little heavy but the top of the ball was visable. Sand in the bunkers was nice and fluffy, although a little bit damp. Tee boxes are in absolutely perfect condition. Course layout: It is no wonder that Goose Creek is a favorite amongst GK'rs, it is definitely one of my favorites, but I don't get to play this track often enough. Lots of risk/reward shot selections and doglegs that really test your shot shaping skills, although a mi sh-t will generally still be playable. You do have to watch out for the OB areas, but most areas seem to be red staked so you can at least take the distance. The tall reeds and brush make this course look so unique, but newcomers beware, don't let the OB sap your confidence, there is plenty of room to keep your ball in play. There isn't really any water hazards until you reach 18, which is intimidating standing on the tee box if you are trying to cut the corner of the lake. Approach shots to the greens can be brutal if you're shot doesn't hit the right area of the green; lots of false fronts and edges that will roll your ball right off the green into a collection area. Bunkers are placed strategically around the course making this course challenging but the more you become familiar with the course the more aware you become of where to hit your shots. What I really love about this course is that every aspect of your game will be tested. Tee shots need imagination, approach shots need accuracy, chips need to land softly and putts need to have perfect speed. Unfortunately for me I'm not a strong chipper and tend to lean on bump and runs which on this course isn't the best choice, you need to be able to chip over mounds and bunkers with finesse. Bump and runs will get you into trouble because of the aforementioned collection areas around the greens. Go play this course, you will not have any regrets. I do recommend a yardage book that they sell in the pro shop; having a laser range finder was helpful but the yardage book would have been beneficial.

Played on Sat (11/2) around 1:30 pm. POP was about 4.5 hours as we finished just after 6pm. Course is in good shape and greens are nice - just a little soft. Only complaint - not against course but rather other players - fix your ballmarks. We fixed quite a few unrepaired ball marks, esp on last few holes (about 10-20 per green). Overall, an excellent value.

Played here Sat. 10/19 with. A 7:42 tee time. Got out about 5 minutes early and finished in 4:10 perfect pace. We only waited on number 2 for just a couple of minutes.

They are off of cart path only. Fairways where wet and soft in a few places but overall very lush and easy to hit from.
The greens have recovered nicely from punching with just a couple of greens showing the pattern but it did not effect the roll. Greens are smooth and hold shots well with a medium fast pace.
Only down side was the practice green was being heavily watered and you could not use it.
Saw the cart 3-4 times and the marshal came by a couple of times.
