Early morning time finishing in about 4.5 hours. The staff has always been efficient and friendly in all my years of playing here. The carts have GPS which is probably the most accurate of any I've ever used. The practice facilities are well maintained and convenient for the golfers. The tee boxes all had good coverage and were level with few broken tees. The rough is extremely long from the recent rains and difficult to hit from if one is able to locate their ball. The rough really slowed up play with our foursome losing six balls during the round. The fairways had good coverage with actually a few dry or dormant section scattered throughout. The mostly Bermuda turf was mostly damp and cut extremely short making for many very tight lies. There was a ton of roll for those shots that kept themselves in the short stuff. The traps were all well groomed and raked with mostly adequate sand. I found many and the fairway bunkers do have quite a few pebbles and rocks in them. The greens have almost totally healed from the fall maintenance and have complete coverage. There were not very many ball marks but the softness allowed for footprints which could be noticeable. The greens held shots very well and rolled true. The quickness of the greens is almost back their diabolical speed which quickened as the round progressed. It's always great to have an early tee time here as the play bogs up as the day goes on. Overall the course looks really nice and is in the best condition I've seen it in for years with reasonable weekday rack rates.

Mid morning round in slightly over four hours. The staff is always great and friendly. The carts are great and have pretty accurate GPS. The driving range is closed on Thursday mornings for those who don't know. The tee boxes were all level with real good coverage and level. The lush green rough was cut in the morning at the perfect height to keep shots in play and allow for a decent swing if you found it. The fairways all have total coverage with the warmer weather starting to make the Bermuda come alive. Good lies from start to finish and good roll if you found the middle of them. The traps all have enough sand but a few I found had small to large size pebbles and small rocks. There are many traps on the course and often very deep. The greens had just been punched within the last two days and rates discounted for those playing today. The greens are usually really quick with a lot of break and today they were surprisingly quick even with the sand and holes. I would give it a couple of weeks and the entire course should be in prime condition. The course has a nice layout and water comes into play on a few holes. The rates are reasonable during the week but a little high on weekends. Always easy to recommend

Twilight five hour round on the first day of rack rate pricing after the plugging. The staff is always changing lately and new nothing of the rumor that JC is going to take over the operations? The practice facilities are good and always busy. The carts are nice with the GPS which is helpful even if you've played the course for years. The tee boxes were all in nice condition and were seeded. The rough is really thick if you find your balls in the secondary you will be tested to locate them and hit a decent shot. The fairways are all in great shape with a few dry tight lies. The Bermuda turf is starting to turn but still provides decent lies. You will find sections throughout the course that are muddy and need to be played as gur. The traps were all damp and frustrating to hit from. Most traps have ample dark sand and some with small pebbles. The greens are probably a couple weeks away from being in good enough shape to ask rack rates. They were holding shots very nice but all putted at a different speed. Some of the large greens even had different speeds depending on the section of them you found your balls sitting. The overall pace of play here is almost always five hours or more if you do not have an early tee time. There are lots of forced carries and ob on this course which can add to the cost of the greens fees with all of your lost balls.

Early morning four hour round on a much improved course. I've played here since this place was first owned by the McMillin Corporation. The staff is friendly and entertaining. The carts are in good shape with gps and small speakers with hookups for phones and the like. The tee boxes were all in great condition with total coverage and tightly cut Bermuda. The rough is penal in places throughout the round but for the most part was cut at the perfect length allowing you to locate your shot and put a decent swing on it. The fairways were close to best shape I have seen them in over the years. The Bermuda sat your ball us nicely and allowed for roll out where they were not damp. The traps were all perfectly groomed with most having damp thick sand. I did find a couple traps that had large pebbles and small rocks but that was my only complaint. The greens had total coverage with hardly any ball marks! The speed was somewhat slower in the morning but sped up as the day went on. There was much less break than our group read which made for many missed putts. The overall condition of the facility is much improved and worth the weekday rates but a little steep for the weekend. Definitely recommended

First Time Back in over 10 years! I have always loved the layout of this course but I just never thought the conditions matched the price tag. Well, I am happy to report that the conditions are much better than in the past. Robert did a great job detailing the conditions and I have no information to add to his review below. I know the rack rate of $100 on the weekend is a lot but compared to what else is out there for a similar price it's hard not to choose Redhawk. I will definitely add this to the rotation after yesterday.

I was very much looking forward to getting back down to Redhawk six years after my last visit for my GK Cup match with mpisarski. Matt was good enough to book us an 8:30am time on Sunday morning and, after a nice little warmup on their quaint but effective little driving range, we set off, opting to play from the black tees and riding in their very nicely appointed carts (including the small, not so in-your-face monitor for the GPS that Matt was gushing about).

Really fun layout with a nice variety of holes, some decent elevations (including the wild par 3 17th), strategic bunkers and water features, and some very deceptive greens that have some wild tiers to navigate. My past memories of the course were quickly dispelled as we found a Redhawk that was in pretty prime shape from tee to green - a far cry from the dried out and somewhat unkempt version that I remember from long ago.

Fairways are nice and lush and almost always providing a nice lie, while the rough was very thick in spots and there was also a lot of boggy, muddy areas that still had nice coverage but were quite difficult to shoot from. The bunkers were a little underwhelming to be fair, but playable, while the tee boxes were all in good shape. The greens, and more importantly the green complexes, were super fun, challenging and rewarding of solid putts. They were deceptively fast though as we watched plenty of them race past the hole until we got better at judging speeds. But as previously mentioned, there are some diabolical tiers at this place, and no green ever felt like it was going to give you anything easy.

POP was very good all day after we let a twosome pass us on the fourth hole. We never got pushed from behind for the rest of the round and we only had minimal waits for the group in front of us, so that was very cool. Cart service popped around a few times as well so it all went very smoothly for the day.

With a riding rate of $100 I believe, it was well worth it to play this much-improved version of one of Temecula's better courses. I think if you're planning a trip there soon that you won't be disappointed after your round.

I’d been wanting to get back to Redhawk for a while. I saw some recent photos that showed it to be in good condition, so I decided to brave the heat and go play. The customer service was top notch. They had carts going to the parking lot to transports players and clubs to the clubhouse. Any bit of less walking in the heat was much welcomed. Check in was quick and I got my cart. The brake pedal was not working but they gave me another cart. That one didn’t work very well either but I just made do with some creative parking positions. The starter said they are expecting new carts with GPS next month. Also, since my last visit, there is new netting between the driving range and #18. I was paired with a nice twosome and we headed out on time at 1pm. Other than the sand-less bunkers, the course conditions were very good. The fairways were green and lush, with no thin or bare spots that I saw. There was much evidence of prior players having filled their divots. That was nice to see. The tee boxes were also in good shape. The greens were firm and not as fast as I expected but smooth and rolled true. There were very few ball marks. The rough varied from a bit clumpy to very thick and deep. Even from that, I had one of my best chipping days in a while. The temperature reached 104 by the time we got to the 7th hole and on the 9th I was feeling so lousy I had to call it a day. I was kinda bummed because I shot my best front nine score ever on the course and think I might have done as well on the back if not for the heat. The front nine POP was 2:15. The lady in the pro shop was the best. She gave me a nine hole rain-check good until November. What a nice touch. As soon as the weather cools, I’ll be back. Definitely recommended.

It has been awhile since we visited Redhawk and pleasantly surprised on how well the course played. Check in was easy. Staff was friendly. Practice facility was ok. Mats at the driving range, and 2 practice greens where we chipped and putt while waiting for out slot. Tee sheet was full and we were given carts 10 minutes before tee time. Carts had no GPS - good thing we had a greens book. Also, we were joined by 2 singles, one of whom had a lot of course knowledge he shared with us. Thanks Dennis Course has some very interesting and memorable holes and the par 3s were a lot of fun. Some tee boxes must not have been mowed as grass was a bit longer than normal. Fairways decent with some area bare but overall playable. Rough was tough as some areas are overgrown and deep grass. Best part are the greens. Very challenging with multi-tiered greens that are hard to figure out. Greens run medium speed. Given the number of people on the course, we were lucky to finish just a little over 4 hours. Some waiting here and there but can't complain for a Sunday afternoon round. Highly recommended.

Early Saturday afternoon round at a much improved course. Staff is great and helpful to the golfers. The practice facilities are okay but not anything to brag about. The course was still very busy and the pace of play was proof. The carts are holding up but definitely showing their age and are basic with no gps. Our cart had black duct tape on the worn out white seat??? The tee boxes all were in nice shape with very good coverage. This was the first time out recently where the rough was actually cut down to near normal length. It was just long enough to stop shots that left the fairway and short enough to allow you to locate your ball and put a good strike on it. The fairways were great with total coverage that is actually greening up nicely with the warmer weather. You might find a tight lie here and there but the turf is still damp underneath. The traps were all well groomed with adequate sand that varied from compact to soft and damp to dry. That was frustrating since I visited about a dozen of them! The greens were still recovering somewhat from maintenance and were very bumpy but with few ball marks. They really needed to be rolled and were slower than usual but were holding better than usual. The rates here are inline with the local competition and the difficulty makes the cost per hole worth the price. The older twosome (husband and wife) who were paired with us were probably the worst playing partners I've ever had to deal with. Luckily they quit after the fourteenth hole because of the slow round. We finished in slightly over five hours which is par for this facility. If you play on the weekend you'll want to tee off by eight or you'll have time to watch hackers on every hole! If you've played here in the past and were disappointed with the conditions I would say the new 2-3 months should see the course in some of it's best playing conditions in years!!
