Played El Prado (Butterfield) on 9/8/18 with a 6:23 am tee time in a twosome @ $51.00 each. Pace of Play was good at 3.5 hours. Greens were immaculate. They had just been punched 4 weeks ago. Tee boxes were pretty level and didn't have too much damage. Some were more roughed up than others. Sand was perfect in the traps. I was in 6 of them! The only part of this course thats not perfect is their fairways. Uneven and some dead spots were other spots are green. You can be straight down the middle and hitting off hard pan 90% of the time. They need to repair the fairways. Staff was friendly and saw the cart girl once on hole 13. Good course! $51 is a bit high for it but for a weekend morning tee time it's ok.

played today using my last Underpar voucher deal. El Prado has failed to notify players that the Greens were "Punched" on the Butterfield side. Course is in bad shape. Guess the heat has been taking its toll on a few courses in the I.E. Many brown dry spots throughout many fairways, No sand in many of the bunkers I was able to see and Greens were terrible. Don't know if the "Chino side" has been punched but it would be nice if the counter personal would let us know.

As it stands, the course is super shaggy, with not much roll on drives, impossible rough in places, and bumpy, inconsistent greens. Long, shaggy tee boxes too. The bunkers are still wet and firm from last week's storm. They switched the 9s since I played here last, and all the signs have been changed to avoid confusion...you tee off on the old #10 (near #1 of the Chino Creek course). I think I like this routing better. Even with the long grass, I still enjoyed my round.

Played yesterday the 15th of Feb. Course is in decent shape, greens were fair a little bumpy but fair. still no sand in some of their bunkers. Pro shop Dennis got us on as soon as we got there. I wish players would keep their Golf carts from being so close to the green. Some of these players actually park the golf cart (not kidding) a foot from the green. This is not only having disrespect for the Course, its having disrespect for all players. But its Prado. What do you expect from a G.M. who really doesn't care.

Played yesterday for the $16 walking fee (Senior rate). The Course needs a lot of TLC. Fairways are 50/50 some are in good shape and others need more watering. Greens are bumping and playable and I'm referring to all greens on the butterfield side. The ball will not hold the line well with all the bumping going on. Bunkers are in desperate need of SAND. Instead of splashing out of a bunker I was chipping out. Pro shop Dennis still gives you good service. Rumor has it the Owners of both Courses are not renewing the lease after the 6 years are up. This means the course will be closing in 6 years, this info comes from sources inside the golf shop. Its a crying shame that both Courses are not looking as good as it should be looking this time of year. But all in all the green fees is fair for the condition of the Course.

Most of the fairways are like the cow pastures that used to surround the course. However, the greens are in very good condition. Didn't get in the sand around the greens but it looked ugly.

Other golfers were interesting too. Some players had their radios/boom boxes. Don't know why they think others like ZZ Top etc. Played behind a foursome that must have shot a 120 per person but they actually moved in less than 5 hours. Caught up to them after six holes which is why the pace of play was OK. 4 hours on a Sunday teeing off at 11:00 a.m.

Only reason I think this course will survive is because they can't build houses there. Think Empire Lakes.

played today because Sierra lakes and other courses are charging "Holiday Rates" the day before thanksgiving. Course is in great shape. Greens are almost perfect. Of course there is hardly NO sand in some bunkers and there are some poor spots throughout the course but other than that I feel we got a bargain. Pro shop still has good service and sometimes I under estimate the challenge of this butterfield side. Its tough if your not playing well and yet fun if you just want to have a good day outside on a golf course.

I played as a solo walker on Monday 10/16, without a reservation, paying the $17 twilight rate. As always, check in was friendly and efficient, and I went directly to the first tee without warming up, starting my round a little past 11:30am. Weather was very hot and dry, with light breezes. Except for a very rude threesome who hit into me as I finished the 14th hole, and again as I teed off on the 15th, I did not encounter any other players during my round.

I played from the blue tees (6568 yards/71.3 rating/124 slope).
Tee boxes were level and well covered with lush turf.
Fairways were variable, with some thin areas around the margins, but generally even, lush turf in the middle. There were a few unfilled divots, but most appeared to have been repaired.
Rough was the usual mixed bag (as it always is here), with some lush turf and some bare ground.
I only found one bunker, greenside, and it was maintained, with soft, thin sand - easy to play from. The other bunkers that I observed appeared to have been maintained and stocked with enough sand.
As usual, the best part of the course was the greens. They were generally smooth, and free of notable blemishes, with the exception of hole 11, where it appeared that several sections of turf had been recently replaced. Greens were quite receptive, and on the softer side of firm. Putts rolled true, though a little slower than I am accustomed to at El Prado.
My round was completed in 3.5 hours, but would have been quicker were it not for the rude threesome that decided to play right through me on the 15th hole.

Early morning round on a beautiful autumn morning. Nothing better than being out on a crisp fall morning on the golf course! Staff was as always very friendly and accommodating. Pace of play not an issue.

Course was in better condition than I expected. Fairways for the most part had plenty of grass, with some areas which could use some attention. Greens certainly the best part of the course. Rolled nicely and reasonably quick.. Only in one bunker and it was fine.

Always enjoys playing the two El Prado courses. Basic no frills golf at a good price, plus there is never any problem getting out early. So long as your expectations are not set too high, this course satisfies the "golf itch"
