Finally had the chance to play out here on Monday 11/17. They do many Monday "member for a day" deals here through Donovan Daily (almost once a month nowadays), but the timing never quite worked out for me until this week. Well worth the wait as I enjoyed the course a lot more than I expected to. $50 with cart included is a pretty good rate. I had booked a 6:44 time and they had me slotted as third off by myself behind two walking twosomes (members, who I was surprised to see on a Monday when the club is normally closed). The twosomes saw me pull up and let me play ahead. They weren't particularly friendly about it, but I left them in the dust and breezed around the course in a couple hours.

I did have to deal with a lot of maintenance, but I was ready for that on a Monday morning at a private club. Ran into workers on almost every green and weaved my way through many sprinklers, which was a nuisance a few times as I had to run in and hit my ball quickly before getting drenched. Otherwise, kudos to the maintenance staff as the course is in excellent shape all the way around. From tee to green, everything is very lush and green with only a few minor weak spots here and there that were generally marked as GUR. Bunkers damp, but playable. Greens a bit inconsistent at this time of day because some had been heavily watered, some had been rolled and others hadn't been worked on yet, so speeds varied from hole to hole. However, the turf was in great shape and I'm sure by mid day they are playing beautifully.

This is a fun, traditional course reminiscent of many classic SoCal courses. Won't blow you away, but really good on all levels and definitely worth checking out if you get the chance. Front nine is very hilly and almost every green is elevated. Generally a little valley between the main fairway landing areas and the greens, forcing you to carry your ball all the way home. The back nine flattens out more, but is a prettier setting. Some big, neat homes around parts of the course. The routing is a bit confusing in places, so make sure you pay attention. I accidentally played the 13th when I was supposed to be playing the 11th and got all twisted around.
