After reading Long4Par's review the other day I found a GolfNow Hot Deal time for $26 for today at 1:45pm (5/6/15). I know they aerated a few weeks ago and his positive review of the course conditions convinced me to take advantage of the awesome rate on GN. It's usually not that cheap. I was very impressed with the conditions! Greens have healed well and rolling true. I ended up playing with another guy got same GN deal as a twosome and they let us go off about 20 mins early starting on Canyon. Caught up to a foursome a few holes in but they played fast. It was pretty wide open out there today. At the turn, we jumped over to Meadow and finished the round in about 3.5 hrs. My kind of golf!

Do you guys know about their new Happy Hour specials? It's EVERY DAY from 3pm to close! The highlight was $3 Stone IPA on draft. You just can't beat that anywhere else. Your first pitcher is $9.99 (probably limited to domestic; didn't ask). The bartender mentioned appetizers like sliders, wings, quesadillas etc but I didn't get any food or ask about pricing. Will definitely have to go back soon and try the apps and more drink specials next time!

Played the Ranch/Meadow combo on Monday morning, first off the tee. I am very surprised at the condition of the course. Probably in the best shape I have seen it in a while. Tee boxes were great and very few with divot damage. Fairways were great, nice and lush and freshly mowed. Hit a couple of bunkers and they were a little wet, but that's mainly because it was early in the morning.

The greens were in the best shape I have seen, most of them, expect for hole 4 on Ranch had little or no ball marks. Ranch 4 is a short par 3 and I was amazed at the amount of repaired ball marks, I guess I am surprised because I always have a hard time hitting that green.

Found a great deal on Golfnow for $34, cant beat that rate for this course. If you haven't played here before or its been a while go check it out now.

Played Canyon/Ranch on Friday, 2/20 at 11am. Paid $44 on golfnow which is a good price. I really love the layout and elevation changes on this course.

Teeboxes: Were pretty good.
Fairways: They were nice and didn't see too many "ground under repair" areas.
Rough: Kind of non existent but the fairways are so wide that if you find the rough, you usually have a tree in your way anyways
Traps: Had a good amount of sand
Greens: The greens roll fairly true.

My only issue with this course is every time I play it, I always find it hard to stop the ball on the greens with my hybrids, irons, and wedges. I hit my approach shots fairly high and usually get a decent amount of spin or not too much roll out on most courses. This course however, I can never seem to get the ball to stick and usually always a lot of roll out to the back of the green. Very frustrating!

The starter Jim is one of the nicest and coolest starters at any course I've played. Still a great course and I will continue to play it here and there.

This place just does not get enough love. Played Canyon Ranch on Sunday. Greens were beautiful. Collars were reseeded and look fantastic. After the rains the fairways - you don't see this much bermuda in SD on a fairway for under $100 - are lush. Very nice sand in the well- maintained bunkers. Lots of elevation changes. All par 3s require a different club. Nice variation in Par 4s. It's not quite Maderas, but it's not that far off, and half the price. Staff was friendly and helpful. If they could get Carlton Oaks in this kind of shape, SD might be worthy of a golf trip.

Played Canyon/Ranch on 10/26 for $59. Canyon 9 just opened on the 24th after maintenance and the greens were still quite bumpy and sandy. Ranch 9 was in much better shape. Not sure why they didn't put us on the Meadow 9 with Canyon still being roughed up, but overall it was a decent day.

Course is in very good shape right now. PLayed Canyon/Ranch. Greens were in very good to great condition and rolling a little slow but true. Fairways were solid and the rough was very decent. Played in 3 1/2 hours after teeing off today at 10am. Payed $39 p/person w/cart and I feel that is a very fair price for the service and layout. Last time I played (last December) I was disappointed in the upkeep at the time but I am happy to say it is back in shape. I really do enjoy the layout here.

Played Steel Canyon (Canyon/Ranch nines) on 8/13.. what a fun course to play, didn't get the chance to play the 3rd 9, but i'll be back to play that one, looked just as good as the others. teed off at 1pm with some cool locals, Mark, Mark and Ed, thanks for the help guys.
Courses were if very good shape.
Tee Boxes: Most were is good shape, and flat.
Fairways: very few bad areas
Greens: Good Shape, bit slow for my liking but solid.
Traps: all traps I was in were good, no issues playing from them.
POP: no waiting around. 3.5 hour round
This course is worth every penny, wonderful layout, cant wait to go back.

Played the Canyon/Ranch nines at 8 AM on 7/11 and was very pleased with the condition of the course. Greens: smooth but a little slow, sign at the starter's booth said the greens are at a 9. The pro shop said they are keeping them a little longer than normal due to the heat. Fairways: EXCELLENT, hard to get a bad lie. Rough: 1 to 3" with very few bare spots. Traps: hard packed sand, worst area of the course. POP: just over 4 hours for our 4some. Worth the trip from O'side.

Played this morning with a 7:54 tee time (used a CostCo voucher), went off just after 8 as two of the threesome I was paired were late arriving. Once out on the course the weather was perfect with the wind picking up on the back nine making things a bit more interesting. We played Ranch/Meadow, second time on Ranch for me first on Meadow. Which I had heard was a bit boring but I really liked it. The course is in pretty playable shape right now and the layout is enjoyable if you play from the appropriate tees, we played from the whites. Although many of the white tee areas were bunched with the blues, so it was more of a white/blue combo. Tee boxes: Mostly good, a couple were pretty tight and not totally level which made the effective playing area even smaller. Fairways: good coverage, mostly green, not plush green but very nice to play from. Rough: very minimal, 2" to 3", but easily manageable. Bunkers: I wasn't in any fairway bunkers, but they looked just like the green side ones I was in, mostly just wet muddy sand (?), very tough to play from . . . again from "sand" I am pretty darn good, from "mud"? Not so much! I wish course kept these areas in better playing shape! Greens: started off a bit slow due to morning dew, but sped up quickly! They were a bit on the hard side and only wedges really stuck. They rolled nicely, but don't break as much as they look like they should. POP: 4 hrs 15 mins. Cart service: saw the cart 3 times a nine. Due to my restrictive dietary habits they never seem to have anything except water that I can consume, so I can't say about price etc. Overall I thought the course was in good shape, very playable, interesting and in a nice quiet setting. I recommend it, just shop for a good price.
