Play here 4-5 times a year. First time submitting a review. Played on September 5th and found the course to be in good shape except for the bunkers which, like many other courses, appear to be low on the maintenance priority as they hard and were pretty much dirt. The fairways were in decent shape and the greens were good. Pace of play was great...got done in 4hrs and 15 minutes on a holiday weekend! Staff in the pro shop was friendly. Overall a good experience, other being 4 over after 2 holes....:-)

I submitted a bad review on The Vineyard on Father's day. I was contacted by the course GM today. Talk about amazing customer service.
He was very honest about the course conditions, and he explained about a pipe breaking which hurt the course conditions.

I have periodically played here a few times over the last couple of years. It used to be in great condition. Typically slow play was an issue. Today it was terrible conditions. Do not play this course. The fairways are in horrible condition. Bunkers are like cement. Greens look in great shape until you have to putt them. They are so bumpy and slow. It's not even hot yet, so they can't use that as an excuse for not cutting them. Shame on them for not putting more money into the upkeep of this course. I thought about emailing the GM, but that doesn't help. You get some Lane ass excuse versus here's a rain check. Sorry we took your 65 dollars. By the time I bought range balls and 3 beers, I was 90 bucks in, only to quit after 10 holes. Shame on this course.

I was not sure how well the greens had recovered from the March 9th punching. Well, they haven't ! Aside from the fact that they were bumpy, they were slow and need desperately to be rolled. The ball simply would not stay on line ! Fairways had some nice areas, but too many bare spots. The bunkers looked great, but actually it was just a thin layer of sand which was nicely groomed. Thin would be a kind description.

Staff was "cordial" not friendly. In all fairness, they were very accommodating however. Course was busier than expected at 6am, no issues getting out, which was appreciated.

I had booked a tee time for The Vineyards on 9/25/20 for 6:30am on 10/5/20, but before I booked the time, I called, as I always do, to confirm that they were NOT aerating the greens. However checking Greenskeeper, like I always do, saw they were in fact going to aerate on 10/5/20. I called the course and confirmed they are in fact punching the greens, so I would have to play the front nine twice. Not Acceptable !

I asked why they were not forthright about this when I called and booked the tee time, - no explaination ! Just an "I'm Sorry". Thank goodness for Greenskeeper or I would have made the long drive and paid the $$, for nothing !

Early Sunday morning round on a very poor course. It had been years since I played here and was really looking forward to it but was really disappointed. The staff and facility is good - wish the playing conditions were close. The tee boxes were for the most part level but many were thin and shaggy. The rough varied from thin to thick and short to long depending on the hole. The fairways were very bad on the front nine with bare spots and a mix of grasses with better coverage but drier on the back. The traps were the worst I've seen in all my years of golf. Every trap was filled with grass, weeds, pipes, shovels and anything else you could imagine. The only hole where the traps were in good shape was the 18th of course (problem was we couldn't get the other 17 out of our heads). The greens on the front were as bad as the fairways with marks, bare spots and dead sections. The back nine greens were in much better shape with few marks and no bare spots. The rates being charged and paid are not close to what this course is worth right now. Cannot recommend at all.

Hi All...played 2/13 with a 1:00 tee time...we did not finish...condition of the course is typical winter due to dormant Bermuda Grass...however greens in great shape especially considering the amount of play the course gets. I will say this is one of my fave courses in North County, but it is getting crowded and with 7 minute start times POP does suffer so expect longish rounds no matter the day once you get to the noon hour.

Staff here is great and friendly and will get you taken care of.

I actually had a tee time for Monday 2/10/20, but with rain the forecast, decided to try to play today, without a tee time. Arrived early (5:45am) and was surprised how busy it was even at that time, and more surprising, it was 33 degrees out !!!! I had been advised by the shop when I called yesterday, that they do not delay for frost, but rather just keep the carts on the path. So because it was busy, we teed off at 6:20am in the dark, 33 degrees, and CPO. That is a tough way to start a round. Finished just prior to 9:00am, which was when carts were allowed back on the fairway Greens were good, but because they could not mow them due to the cold weather, they were slow. Most fairways were OK, with some exceptions. The greenside bunkers were very inconsistent, as stated in the prior review. Some had nice fluffy sand, others were thin and had many pebbles/rocks. Enjoyed the course despite the brutal conditions. I rarely play here, but have always had a good time here. I much prefer the front nine to the back. (When I first played here the nines were reversed) Hope to return here sooner than later, and expecting more friendly conditions next time.

Enjoyed a fun albeit 3 lost balls round @ 9:15 2/3/20 for residents rate of $37. Very reasonable rate for residents, seniors, and military/veterans. Exceptional cheery check-in at the well stocked pro shop. Nice little bar/eating area inside and seating outside. Course (and practice areas) was certainly packed; hence the frustrating 5 hour POP. We were a twosome following a group of 4 and followed by a group of 3. Waited significantly on basically every hole making it difficult to get into any consistent game rhythm. Group in front of us hustled through each hole as quickly as they could. Starter was verrrrrry pleasant and informative. Driving range nearby the starter for a quick warm-up. Carts equipped with GPS, USB power port, No windshield, but comfortable. For a Par 70 course it makes up for it with trouble on pretty much every hole on the front 9. Course typically backs up between Holes 2 and 3, then normally frees back up. I feel the back nine is much nicer visually and more open. Holes 10 and 18 be sure to keep and eye on your ball as they run parallel to the driving range and many errant range balls clutter the rough/fairways and even the bunker on the 18th. Wind can be a factor starting around mid-day. Tee boxes (we played from the Silver), were nice, level, on the thin side (due to winter dormancy) but no major divots except for typical Par 3s. Bunkers were inconsistent. Some ample heavy sand, others quite sparse and one I saw had waaay too many small rocks throughout for my liking...encountered small rocks on the greens from players hitting out of greenside bunkers. Greens were the nicest part of the course. Soft to firm, quite receptive. Fringes nicely maintained as well. Putts rolled out medium to fast. Many subtle breaks. Surprisingly minimal ball marks for the amount of play this course sees. Beware of hidden water hazards. Note: If your ball goes OB or in the deep stuff, course policy is to treat the areas as environmentally protected areas and they ask that players do not tromp around and trample the fauna to retrieve errant balls. Fairways were typical for most courses this time of year. Typical browning, on the thin side, and quite patchy with what looks like different types of grass. Rough was a nice length and very playable (1-2" length). Overall, enjoyed the round, the excellent customer service, nice large chipping/putting practice area adjacent to the cart barn, nice thick mats on the driving range, and overall experience of this course. Pace of Play could be better, but a full/busy course is a good thing especially in light of several local courses closing. A nice challenging and scenic course (back 9 my fav, which runs adjacent to Orfillia Winery ;) Worth the green fee and a visit if you are in the area.... Just this humble golfin gals opinion. ;)
