We had a 2:00 tee time on Saturday, 8/29. Haven't played The Vineyard in quite a while and after this experience I won't be back anytime soon ... if ever. Took well over 5 hours to finish. Greens are REALLY slow. Have to admit I laughed at some of the recent reviews that mentioned bugs, but I'm not laughing anymore. This course is INFESTED with gnats. The back 9 was simply miserable. Every time you stand still you're swarmed. Almost impossible to stay focused over a putt with gnats in your ears, nose, eyes, inside your sunglasses, etc. It was comical. Oh, and there's a bee's nest somewhere near the 14th tee box. Got stung on the throat. It was over 100 degrees out and we saw the bev cart one time ... on the front 9. What a joke.

Played this morning. Course is in very good condition. loved the greens, rolled true. A few rough spots in the fairways but to be expected this time of year. read about the bugs, but I sprayed the visor of my cap and my pants legs with OFF! and didn't really see a problem. Great value for the money. Ryan behind the counter was friendly and efficient and paired me up as a single with a threesome quickly. Driving range is a nice facility and reasonably priced.

There were lots of bugs on the front 9, didn't notice it on the back but probably due to the wind picking up. Some of the fairways were in pretty poor shape. I mean there were some patchy spots in the middle of the fairway, it was almost a penalty to hit it into the fairway. The greens were ok, kind of slow for my taste. The sand was good quality. Not too much in the way of a rough here. Played in about 4 1/2 hours. There are some nice views on the back 9 but overall not a memorable golf course. Paid $55 for round and have a hard time justifying it, I think there are better values out there. Almost got hit twice out here, one time no one yelled fore. Protect yourself.

Played 6/28 tee time 0615, finished at 1000. The course is in the best shape of all the courses I have played this year. With one tee box severly divoted and another sloping back to front, both due to poorly placed tee markers, and the fairways, rough and greens in great shape, this course makes for an excellent round. At par 70 with only two par 5s, I thought it would be rather easy, but it proved enough of a challenge to make club and shot selection important. The only true complaint (and this is for every course) is that people don't follow the "repair your divot + 1 other" rule, heck they don't even repair their own much less someone elses! Anyway, this is a course that will go on my "circuit" and will be played often.

But pace of play did pick up. Greens still have some leftover sand from the airification a few weeks ago. But they still rolled true. Course is in good shape, well worth the $25 online special.

You should not have to HAMMER a three-foot putt in my opinion. You could see the verti-cut lines in the greens but that did very little to help them. The rest of the course is in decent shape I guess?
