Played 1/15, starting in the early afternoon. Pace of play was somewhat slow, but sporadically so - parts of the course played fast, and then several holes would just come to a complete stop with a couple groups waiting on the tee.

Conditions are OK for the winter here. Fairways are bare in spots and there are a lot of areas roped off. Greens rolled fairly well and are reasonably quick, but there are a lot of unfixed pitch marks.

Biggest issue was the carts - they are near death. We had to switch out in the middle of #10, and the cart guy said they had replaced 21 so far at that day. Then our replacement died on 16. The other cart in our group made it to 15 before dying. We had to push them up the final hills to be able to get back to the clubhouse. Talking to the group ahead of us, they also had to replace both of theirs at the halfway point, and one of their replacements also died late in the round. Charging a cart fee and then having to push your own cart up hills seems very, very wrong!!!

Played here today on some sort of email special, $38.00 for golf, cart and hamburger. The front nine of this course is shorter but tighter than the back nine. There were lots of roped off fairways which neutralized the effectiveness of the carts GPS. There were a few wet spots and a few bare spots in the fairways. Many of the fairways are lined with lateral water hazards. The greens were fast and tricky. They were also quite firm. I'm going to use the excuse that in the morning, on the front nine, it was overcast and very gray so reading the greens was difficult, because without the sun it was hard to see any contrast and therefore a lot of the breaks. It would seem as though a putt was either level or up hill and the next thing you know your ball is 10 to 15 feet past the hole. I had four 3 putt greens on the front nine for a total of 18 putts (I had a chip-in birdy). Very devious greens, but fair, once you are familiar with them. The back nine is 400 yards longer than the front. There are 3, 450 or longer par 4's. Two of these are downhill, down wind while the 16th is severely uphill into the wind. This is a fun course, the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a great practice green. The driving range has grass and mats, but it looks like the grass area has not been used for sometime and the mats are well used. I recommend this course, but bring your eagle eye green reading and "A" putting game.

Good course in decent shape. Same problem as always with this course. Teed off late, I don't think I have ever teed off on time here on the weekend. Ended up quitting after playing a 3 hour front nine. Guy in golf shop said there was a really slow group that had been asked four times to pick it up. IMO that is two times too many. Hope that group plays every weekend out there because that is my last time playing a weekend round there.

Decent course but stay away on the weekends!!!

I played out here on Sunday, 11/4. I've posted about The Vineyard before and what I think about the layout and customer service and nothing has changed. This is a really fun course and the people who run the place are great. It's always a pleasure to play here.

Right now they have recently overseeded the fairways and tees so it is cart path only and you get some shaggy lies in the fairways and some bare spots on the tees. However, I think that in about three weeks or so this course is going to be in incredible shape. The greens are really recovering well from the punching and were firm and rolled really well. You could tell they were punched in the not so distant past, but I played a bit before they did the aerification and the greens are already showing a great improvement.

I say wait about three weeks and get out to the Vineyard. I think you'll be happy you did.

Played here on 9/29 for only the second time, the first a few years back. I enjoy playing this course but did not remember it only having two par 5's - one on the front and one on the back, even at that it is still plays 6,500 from the back tees. Very well-maintained and scenic course, with the front nine being tight and flat. The back nine for the most part is uphill or downhill and much more wide open. Greens were great as were fairways and rough - only complaint would be tee boxes which were somewhat tore up from use. Worth the drive and green fees - also located next to North County Fair Mall for food and shopping.

Played on 6/15. Overall the conditions were very good. The fairways, rough, and tee boxes were all in excellent shape. The sand traps were good but a bit on the wet side. The greens were in good shape. They rolled medium speed (9 on stimp according to marshal) and smooth. The greens are a bit on the firm side so allow for some run out even with short irons. The layout was enjoyable. All 4 par 3s are on the short side but 3 are fronted by water hazards. There are a couple of par 4s that are pretty long but play down hill and typically with the wind (according to the marshal). It is a golf course that all levels can enjoy. They have a large driving range that rotates between mates and grass along with 2 putting greens. The staff was very friendly.

We played at The Vineyard for the second week in a row and had a great experience both times. The course is in fantastic shape and the pace of play both days was great (although the back nine yesterday took a bit long). The course itself is a good challenge for all golfers, although we played the white tees and I think you lose A LOT on the par 3s as they are really short. However, they all have some sort of water hazard that makes them interesting, but when they are almost all around 100 yards you would like a bit more out of them. The customer service from the beverage cart and bar were great and it made for a fun day. I highly recommend getting out there in the near future as the course is in great shape, its fun to play, and there are good deals to be found online.

I played on Sat 9/10 late twilight. Got through about 5 holes without too much waiting then the pace bogged down. I guess what do you expect on a Sat right? I hadn't played here in a few months, but the course was in great shape. The greens were in great shape rolling a touch slow but not bad. The fairways were still in great shape. Front nine has long fairly narrow fairways at times, creating a situation where hackers are hitting into each other's fairways - guilty as charged. It is a fun layout through with a totally different feel on back nine from front nine.

This course is an American golf course - which kinda surprised me. However, they had very good practice areas. The range was grass and mats - and you hit into this uphill range -
They have a big putting area (there are actually two, but the other is smaller) that gives you an idea of how the greens are actually rolling.

The course has some really good holes, a lot of different holes to challenge your game. Especially your second shots into greens. Several of the holes where very fun. The front nine is different from the back - Front nine seems more flat with trouble around you, while the back nine was more of a rolling feeling with trouble around you.

Greens rolled very good, please fix your ball marks, and held shots fairly well. A lot of tiers on the greens and the greens where fairly large on the back.

When the wind is up, the course is harder due to most holes playing into the wind. The vineyard is very noticeable on the back nine. And helps to give you a calm feeling while playing a fairly challenging par 5 - hahaha.

Overall the course was nice to play and I would play it again in my future visits to Escondido.
