Played 6/10/20 Mid-day with temps from 86-93 sunny light breeze. A day you wanted plenty of fluids but not uncomfortable. Links style course was fairly dry and fast with roll out of the low stinger. Greens held the higher flighted irons. Consciousness was they rolled a bit slower than we'd like. Smooth and not many extra marks. Maybe letting grow out a bit with expected aeration upcoming.
Joined by three other Gk'ers from the blue tees at 6500 yds. The rough was short but held most shots erring towards the longer fescue grass bordering most holes. In there it was 50/50 depending on how thick it was. Bunkers were listed on cart as ground under repair but you could get in there and give it a whack without leaving footprints. rolling to the bottom favorable to getting stuck in the tall stuff growing around many of them.
Tee boxes good flat and dry for most part a little thin maybe if critical. (i'm not)
Overall a great example of links style golf with views of the mountains to the east. A quality course that is fun track to play. The more times you do the better you'll play. No boring holes. All covina protocols in effect. Take-out food and beverage available. Great asset to the area. Recommend.

I went and played Ridge Creek this morning with a buddy teeing off at 7:10am. We were the second group off on a nice warm morning. Ridge Creek is a challenging links style layout with nasty rough (12”+) off of the fairway and deep pot punkers in the middle of the fairway. Accuracy is a premium to say the least. Greens are large with moderate undulations. The greens at Ridge Creek are almost always soft and easily hold well struck approach shots. Today was no exception. The down side of this set up is the greens get riddled with pitch marks. Most are repaired and don’t affect putts too much but to the eye it can cause some strain. Greens rolled at a nice medium-fast+ pace today.

Fairways were nice, but not as emerald green as I’ve seen them in the past. In fact they were more brown that green. Yet, the fairways presented a sufficient platform to hit from. Tee boxes weren’t bad. All were level with decent coverage and only the short Par 3’s were chewed up. I somehow avoided all bunkers today, but my buddy saved par from one of the three he was in and he’s a high handicapper.

Course is easily walkable which is what we did. For COVID compliance they had metal rings in the cups that were almost level with the top of the cup. Balls easily rolled over and out. For some reason this set up didn’t suit my eye and I struggled with putts. I thinkit was more mental than anything.

Customer service was friendly as usual. Overall, Ridge Creek isn’t in the best shape I’ve seen in it but definitely worth the price of admission.

A quick updated on conditions at Ridge Creek from when I was there a couple weeks ago. I played on Friday 3/20/20. First off the fairways and greens all drained well from the recent rains. I elected to walk to help promote “social distancing” and I only found one area of standing water behind one of the raised greens. For the most part it was out of play unless you went long on the par 3 tee shot.

The rest of the course was nice and dry even though it had rained a bit during the night. Temperature during play was a fantastic Sunny mid -high 60’s with No wind.

I will say we did encounter quite a few pitch marks on the greens. It seems to be getting worse here as I noticed I mentioned this during my last review as well. One of my playing partners had at least 4 putts affected badly by pitch marks.

Other than that the course is good to go. I did see they sent an email later that afternoon saying the course was being shut down due to COVID-19. Restaurant was still open for take out food which we all grabbed some food afterwards as we were starving!

If the course is going to be closed down for a couple of weeks, I say it’s a perfect time to aerate the greens.

Played Ridge Creek mid-morning under the threat of rain but the day turned out to be absolutely perfect. The unseasonably warm (and dry) temperatures have the dormant grass starting to come back alive. Fairways remain a mixture of green and brown color but present a fine hitting surface all around. Tee boxes were similar in nature with all being nice and level and most divot free. Even the two short par 3’s had good grass on the tee boxes to hit from. Greens at Ridge Creek are medium plus in size and all have some minor to moderate undulations making long lag putts tough but doable. The good news is that the greens at Ridge Creek are soft and very receptable to approach shots. In fact it’s very easy to get a lot of spin on well struck iron or wedge.

The greens did have a few repaired and unrepaired pitch marks (come on folks, bend down and fix your ball mark). Having said that I don’t remember either of us having a putt affected by a pitch mark.

I was in about 4 bunkers total between greenside and fairway. All were pretty much hardpan dirt. One did have a thin layer of sand on the top and one had several pebbles throughout it. Course wasn’t overly busy but we did wait on the group in front of us for must of our shots, yet POP was at around 3.5 hrs. so no real complaints.

Ridge Creek is a true “links” style course with a premium on accuracy over length. Get off line and it’s lost ball city in the deep weeds/grass and bushes between fairways. The fairway bunkers are also to be avoided at all costs as it is often lob wedge to come out to avoid the steep ledges.

I always enjoy my round at Ridge Creek and look forward to the next round here.

Played Sunday, 3/1 as part of the VGA outing. Off at noon on a cold windy day, Ridge Creek was in great shape; my golf game was not.

As is with this course, as long as you stay in the fairway you have a chance to put up a good score. Leave it out in the wilderness and you're going to have a rough time out there, like I did.

Fairways were still dormant but great to hit from. Plenty of grass with good roots allowed you to compress irons well.

The blue tee boxes left some to be desired. Some had a lot of divot marks, were uneven and generally kinda beat up. Would love to see them repair them and move the tee boxes since there is so many to choose from out there.

Rough was cut short until you got to the native frog hair and bushes. Wasn't penal until you ended up there.

Sand traps left much to be desired as well. Thin with a bunch of rocks in them. I've always remembered Ridge Creek having decent traps, so it was a shame to see them in the state they were in.

The greens made up for the minor inconsistencies, though. They were in fantastic shape, rolling medium fast to fast, and very true. If you hit it on the correct line with the right pace you knew it was going in. They were a real treat to play on yesterday.

In all, Ridge Creek is a great course that will challenge you, especially when the wind picks up like it did yesterday. Can't wait to get out there again.

I've reviewed Ridge Creek many many times, and like Alex who played a day after I did. Course is in good shape, with the fairways being completely dormant. Greens were solid, and to be honest, pins were in some tricky places where multiple slopes could effect your putt(s).
This is hands down my favorite course along side with Dragonfly. But what has me concerned is the bunkers. I get that we're coming through the winter months, but the lack of coverage that is in the bunker has made some of these bunkers nearly impossible to get out of. I was playing with some buddies who are very good players and they struggled getting the ball out of the bunkers because the top layer is nearly nothing. We were chipping out of the bunkers instead of splashing out like a normal bunker shot. But the worse part is some of the bunkers that are in play have a TON of pebbles in them, not a few but completely riddled with pebbles. I would love to go out and work for Ridge Creek for a day or two (compensated through golf rounds) and sift the bunkers and get these bunkers cleared out of these rocks. Especially 18, the bunker that is in the middle right of the fairway is littered with rocks, that will eat up a club. I know that Ridge Creek will have sand in their bunkers once the winter season runs its course.

Not complaining, but just something that was noticed by our entire group.

Played Ridge Creek in Dinuba today on a glorious sunny day. This was one of the few perfect weather days in the valley where it wasn’t scorching hot, windy or freezing cold. Conditions remain steady and very similar to my last review a couple of months ago. The main exception is that the fairways are now completely dormant and a constant brown in color. They still present a very nice hitting surface and with no rain for the last couple of weeks offered plenty of roll out.

Greens rolled at the perfect medium fast pace. As usual the greens were soft easily holding approach shot. Of course the trade off for this is the numerous pitch marks throughout the greens. They still rolled relatively smooth.

Customer service was spot on as usual. With the weather so great the course was very busy so POP was at 4.5 hours. I can’t blame people for wanting to be out on a nice course on a nice day. I was!!! I always like to have lunch at the restaurant after the round but unfortunately had to get on the road right away.

Played 11/25/19 with RGM2525 teeing off in the brisk morning. We beat the wind that came up very strong around noon. Course is playing great as usual. Greens were fantastic, easily holding approach shots to give us plenty of birdie looks with a handful of conversions (RGM2525 more so than me but I didn't get skunked at least).

As mentioned before the fairways have gone dormant and are more brown than green but still present a good lie to hit from.

The biggest surprise were the bunkers. We both commented that the greenside bunkers actually had sand! I was in 3 total and two had a decent amount of sand. Not as nice as a premium deep fluffy bunker but enough to be predictable and get under the ball. I was in one bunker that was hardpan dirt.

Rest of the course is in the same condition as the last few reviews. Customer service at Ridge Creek has always been good but it's starting to boarder on Great! Last time here we had a member running late and they happily adjusted our tee time squeezing us in between other groups. This time we showed up without a reservation and they had us on the tee box in less 15

The links style layout offers a good mix of scoring opportunities and survive and move on holes.

Played 11-25-19 with Alex326 teeing off at 7:50 and finishing in about 3 1/2 hours with some minor waiting on back nine. Tee boxes were cut tight and level with little divot damage on par threes. Fairways are starting to go a little dormant which means a little tighter lies and a lot of roll out, but still in really good condition. Rough along fairways was only a little longer than the fairways and in about the same condition. Rough around the greens (outside the large aprons) was about 2 inches and lush. Was in one fairway bunker short of 1 that was well groomed but mostly mud, and in one greenside bunker front left on 2 that had a thin layer of nice sand. Greens were rolling really nice, medium/fast and semi-soft with a lot less pitch marks than you normally see here. Overall conditions were real nice, staff is always great here, just a real fun place to come play.
