Was back out at Ridge Creek for an afternoon round with the GK’ers. Temperature was in the very warm to hot classification, but actually cooled off nicely on the back nine. Our group was off first with no one in front of us we set a leisurely pace as the group behind was in a match and a hole or so behind us.

We had two players in our group playing the red tee boxes and they were fantastic! Our tee’s were in great shape as well including the couple of short par 3’s. Fairways still steal the show at Ridge Creek. A pure delight. Very lush with excellent coverage throughout.

Greens were showing signs of the triple digit heat of late. There were about 3-4 greens that had some brown spots on them. Those were all new as none of the greens had any of that a couple of weeks ago when I was out. Being that we played late afternoon there were a few bumps along the way, both in foot prints as I’ve mentioned before and in the form of some unrepaired ball marks, or poorly repaired ball marks. Ridge Creek greens are always soft and very receptive to approach shots. The “down side” of that is you will occasionally encounter some pitch marks that might affect your putt.

Greens rolled at a medium pace.

Bunkers had a thin layer of sand in them. Playable, but could use some maintenance. Again, I encountered several bunkers that had not been raked by the players. Hey folks, the rakes are back in please use them. If you are concerned about covid and don’t want to touch the rakes, fine, use a ball retriever to get you ball out of the bunker. Don’t walk in and leave footprints.

Customer service is always excellent and our group had time to stop for a drink at the restaurant and I enjoyed the fish tacos as well. It was nice to see the kitchen still open late on a Sunday so I could get some food.

Course is just in way too nice of shape not to play. Played early morning last week and again in late afternoon yesterday. As mentioned in my last review, the course is in great shape. The fairways have lost a tiny bit of their perfect emerald green coloring but are still in fantastic shape. Super lush and offer a good balance between carpet like hitting surface and offering a good amount of roll.

I don't think I've mentioned it before, but most fairways have a small crest in them that if you can carry it you'll catch the small but definitive "speed slot" and get an extra 20+ yards on your drive. Being a flat course it was nice for the designer to put these speed slots in to help with roll given the super lush fairways.

Greens are always in top shape at Ridge Creek and the last two weeks were no exception. The late afternoon round will be prone to footprints leaving indentations but that's normal for most courses. I will say that the greens are trickier than they look at Ridge Creek. Initial observations leaving you thinking they are flat and docile, but almost all have subtle multiple tiers. Just enough to make you pay attention and enough to fool you to prevent a sub 80 round :( Needed another birdie on one of the last 3 holes and had 3 chances in the 12'-15' range. I under read the first one, over read the 2nd and left the third short! arrrgggh!

Tee boxes are level and lush with good coverage throughout, even on the short par 3's.

Sand traps are in need of attention. They are thin at best and just short of hardpacked dirt.

Customer service is Excellent. POP- Last week in the morning it was at around 4 hrs and yesterday it was under 3 hrs. as I only encountered one group that took me 1 hole to get around. it also helped that I hit every fairway(ish) and the one that did miss was on the cart path which is about the only place you can find a stray drive at Ridge Creek .

Highly recommended to say the least.

I’m going to start off this review with a big shout out to the customer service at Ridge Creek. They continue to impress me more and more every time I play there. I had to cancel my early morning tee time yesterday due to work and then showed up 8 hours later and they happily accommodated me with no issues at all. They are a super friendly staff.

Next, the course conditions. In short, FANTASTIC! I challenge you to find a better conditioned course at a better rate.

I’ll start with the greens. Being that they recently aerated them, it’s no surprise that they were rolling super smooth and super fast. Greens are soft and easily held well struck approach shots. Heck, I even got back spin on a 4-iron. I played in the late afternoon and didn’t see too many unrepaired ball marks so that’s a good thing. One of my “criticisms” in the past here was that you would encounter a ton of unrepaired pitch marks. That seems to have changed. Greens are fully recovered from the recent aeration.

Fairways were absolutely immaculate. Easily a 9.5, Super lush with 100% coverage and just the most beautiful emerald green color. Tee boxes were great as well. Not quite the same as the fairways but not far behind.

Bunkers were the only thing that needs some love and attention. Most were mainly hard pack with only a sprinkle of loose sand.

Also, all of the tall (12” plus) fescue grass on the edge of the bunkers and fairways are grown in and now it’s pretty much an automatic lost ball. Had one that hit 4-5 feet in the fairway and trickled to the edge. Lost ball. Another one was 3” off the fairway and I was very lucky to find it on the third attempt.

Ridge Creek is always a fun track and the excellent conditions make it a no brainer right now. In fact I was intending on playing here again today but opted to get caught up on rest.

Finally got a chance to tee it up with Cencalgolfer33 in over a year of attempting to coordinate our schedules. We tee’d off at about 8:30 AM in sunny and very warm day with no wind at all. Ridge Creek remains in great shape and as RGM2525 stated the fairways are starting to green up. Customer service has always been very good to excellent but it just keeps getting better and better. They agreed to order a logo shirt in my size. I told them to pick the color just wanted a logo shirt to show support.

Greens were rolling at a fast pace. It might be due to the mid to high 80’s temperatures lately but the greens were faster than normal (I thought at least). Greens held well struck approach shots but short chips, even decent one’s would run off. Greens at Ridge Creek are large with a few lumps and bumps in them so it can be easy to 3 putt if you are on the wrong part of the green.

Fairways are on their way back from being dormant. Still plenty brown but have a lot of green showing through. No issues hitting from the fairway. A lot of the nasty 12” + tall rough is cut down right now making a stray ball a 50/50 chance in finding it. Once it all grows back to normal foot plus deep it’s lights out for sure on errant shots.

No issues with the tee boxes. I did notice that the tee markers are now getting narrower and more consistent with other courses. In the past the markers were 50’-75’ apart

Sand traps are ok at best. Better than they were a couple years ago but could still use an overhaul. The tall grass around the edges of the bunkers are cut down to manageable (2-4 inches) height.

POP – Well we were behind two sets of fivesomes…. Once we got around the second group on hole 9 the pace picked up with no to very little waiting.

Ridge Creek is always an enjoyable track and as soon as my shirt comes in I’ll head over and play again while there!

Played 3-29-21 for $48 first round including cart and $15 replay which also includes cart if you ride the first round. Played as a single both rounds and finished in about 4 1/2 hours with some jumping around on the second round. Tee boxes were in good condition, mostly level and cut tight. Fairways are just a little greener than last round, with still a lot of roll out and nice tight lies. There were a few minor spots here and there that were a little bare, but course is doing a good job of sanding them in. Rough as normal is in good shape and not much longer than the fairways. Was in a few greenside bunkers that were in the best shape I have seen them in in awhile. They are still a little firm, but did have a nice layer of brown sand and were nice to hit from. Greens as far as maintenance goes were in very nice shape, unfortunately there were a lot of unfixed pitch marks from over the weekend. They still rolled fairly smooth at medium/fast pace. Customer service is always great here, highly recommend playing.

Played 3-12-21 walking 36, first round as a single for $36 on there rewards rate in a little over 2 hours and the second round joining a threesome for $15( there replay rate) in a little under 4 1/2 hours with waiting on most holes. Tee boxes were in good shape, they are still mostly dormant but are mostly level with minimal divot damage on par threes. Fairways here are pretty wide, they were in real nice condition, they are still mostly dormant but there is some green starting to show through. Lies are tight but have good padding, and you still get a lot of roll out. Rough here is not much longer than the fairways, so very easy to hit from. Getting outside the rough is a lost ball most of the time with a lot of bushes and some very thick and long nasty grass. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers that were very firm but still playable. Greens were in real good shape, soft and rolling smooth at medium pace. Greens here are on the large side with a lot of undulation. People in the pro shop are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommend playing here.

I played Ridge Creek twice this week. Conditions remain constant. Greens rolled smooth at a medium-fast pace the other day and a bit faster today. Ridge Creek always maintains their greens so they hold well struck approach shots. Usually, the trade off is a number of unrepaired pitch marks. I’ve noticed the last few times out that it’s getting much better and only a couple of pitch marks throughout the course to be found.

Fairways are dormant (brown) but very playable. One of the big areas of improvement are the rims of the bunkers (both greenside and fairway). Whereas before this area was severely overgrown and thick (18” tall) with grass, it’s now cut down so there’s no chance of losing a ball.

As for the bunkers themselves…. Well, they still need some actual sand. Tee boxes are ok and POP wasn’t an issue either day. Customer service is great. I walked both days, but they are offering single rider carts. Unknown if there’s a premium upcharge for single riders. The range is pretty beat up right now. It was extremely difficult to find a decent hitting surface.

The restaurant is closed for indoor and outdoor dining as even the patio is roped off. In fact, it’s a bit of a pain to just get to the restroom. The do offer a snack shop through a side window.

With a great score the first day and a pathetic score today, I’m eager to get back out and have an “average” score.

I played Ridge Creek on Saturday as part of their Match Play tournament. Ridge Creek sent out an email needing two more players to fill the brackets, so since they are such huge GK supporters, I through my name in hat.

Conditions are just slightly below that of when I played here in December. Greens are still in very nice shape rolling true at a nice medium-fast pace. Fairways are completely dormant and a few spots are winter thin. Other than that the fairways are very playable.

Tee boxes are what have slipped the most. Some of the tee boxes were pretty chewed up. Oddly enough the par 3's were ok it was some of the longer holes that showed signs of wear and tear.

It had rained the night before and even a couple hours before our 9am tee time, so sand traps were more hard packed than usual. But, they were all consistent and playable. Just not fluffy sand playable.

Customer service was great as always. We were the slow group :( (I did my best to get the ONE player in the group to pick up the pace but in a tournament setting he was in NO hurry). Oh well.

I always enjoy Ridge Creek even if I did get my tail handed to me!

Joined fellow GK’er RGM2525 today for a round at Ridge Creek. We teed off just before 10am in perfectly clear and cool weather with no wind. Course was busy so there was some waiting here and there on a 4 hour POP. Fairways have gone completely dormant but still played fine offering a nice hitting surface and providing with a decent amount of roll out.

Greens were their usual medium-fast pace in the morning and sped up to a fast pace in the latter part of the round. Greens rolled smooth for the most part. Greens were soft and very receptive to holding approach shots. Ridge Creek greens used to be full of unrepaired pitch parks but this was not the case today (nor the last time I played). It’s nice to see that players are starting to take care of the course.

No issues with the tee boxes. Level and offered a decent hitting surface. The sand traps I was in (two greenside) were ok. A little thin but predictable.

Customer service was spot on as it has been the last several time out here. We both walked so I can’t comment on the alleged new carts at Ridge Creek. This is a very easy course to walk as it is completely flat with minimal transfer distance between green and tee box.

COVID: Restaurant is closed but they do have a snack bar/window open for some food/drinks to go. No beverage cart. In fact I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a beverage cart at Ridge Creek. Though, I’ve never played it on the weekend.

As mentioned before, Ridge Creek is a great course and well work playing.
