I played on a Sunday morning with iffy weather. We had light rain for 4 holes and it was in the upper 50s most of the round. The course was in great shape because, well, it rains in Oregon. Lush fairways, terrific greens that rolled nicely with no unrepaired ball marks. It was also refreshing to play a courses where most of the people walk. I wish we had more of those in So Cal. Bunkers were wet...it was raining, but had plenty of sand and were well maintained. It had a nice layout, with 3 par 3s and 3 par 5s on the front 9. A few required an iron, hybrid, or fairway wood off the tee, so you had to think your way around the course. The par 3s were on the medium to short side, and it would have been nice to have one or two a little longer. No reachable par 4s for me, but at least several where I was within 75 yards, so decent birdie opportunities. Overall, a pleasant experience. POP not an issue with the rain. Fair price for the area. I'd play it again, and will when I'm in the area.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this course, and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The condition of the course was as nice as any I played in Oregon so far. The greens were much quicker than they looked, which was very much to my liking, which doesn't explain why I putted so poorly ???? I loved the sand in the greenside bunkers which I visited with regularity.

I thought that a number of the holes were really exceptional. If I lived here, I would play here quite often. Jason in the pro shop was great ! I had made what I thought was the first tee time, but when I arrived I was informed I was second out. Jason made some arrangements and got us out first so we could get around quickly and on to "tourist things" for the wife. Thanks!

I would recommend this course if in the area. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

Went to Portland area for golf trip and played on 7/13 and 7/14.

I want to personally thank Nickesquire for some detailed insight and reviews on all the courses in the Portland area. Using his reviews as a guide plus a personalized run down of the 4 courses we chose was valuable! This was course #1.

OGA is a hidden gem. I would of not known to play here if Nick didn't recommend it. This was suppose to be our warm up course and boy where we in for a treat and challenge. They were setting up a kids tournament right after us. Nice mixture of elevation change holes, short/long par 3's and various dog leg left and rights. Greens were running quick @ 10 and got quicker as the day progressed. Fairways and rough were in great shape. Customer service was spot on. Pace of play was 3.45. Pro shop was well stocked and we even had a guy on our group buy Rory's new Nike driver for $240! The course is in the middle of no where, but definitely worth the 30 minute trek from Downtown Portland.

Played 18 with cart for $32 on golf now from the whites at 9AM. No one in front or behind! The course is in great condition in all facets. It is about 40 miles south of Portland and that is the only reason it might not get more play. It winds through an upscale housing development on the back nine but few problems in that regard. There are several very challenging holes and but not much elevation change. I enjoy playing here very much.

Teed off @ 2:00 on a Golf Now deal for $30 to walk. I was matched up with a nice guy from Toronto, we were sandwiched between 3somes. We played the blues (6307/71.0/134) in 3h, 45m, excellent POP for a Sat. afternoon. When we teed off it was completely overcast in the lower 60's, then the sun came out and we finished in the low 70's, very little wind, excellent golf weather. Even after rain earlier in the week, the greens were quick & still usually firm. The traps were excellent, freshly ranked with medium brown sand. The fairways & rough were lush and well to very well maintained. The course played longer than usual with very little roll on tee shots. The tees had been recently aerated and top dressed. Very playable, but not nearly in the condition of the rest of the course. I like the five par 3 and five par 5 layout. They have numerous holes with marsh like areas that are yellow staked. They come across the fairway and requires a lay up shot with a shorter club to get into position to go over on your next shot. Therefore, this course plays longer than the scorecard yardage would indicate. Another hidden level of difficulty for this course is that on 5 different holes, you can lose considerable yardage in addition to the penalty stroke due to the yellow hazards. It can be almost as severe as a lost ball or out of bounds stroke and distance penalty when you start having to replay from 100 yards or more from where your ball actually landed. Four of these holes also have severe slopes in front of the green, where it you come up just short of the green, your ball may roll back into the yellow hazard. Since there is no where to drop on that side not nearer the hole, my conclusion was that I had to replay from the other side. Customer service has been a ++ every time I have played here. Almost everything about this course is top notch in my opinion. Only negatives... they could use more on course water stations and there is no drink cart.

Teed off in the rain @ 2:15 on a prepaid Golf Now "hot deal" of $20.99. Since I was already obligated to paying, my cheap ass was playing, rain or not. Walked the blues (6307/71.0/134) in 4h, 15m, playing behind a lady professional qualifying group complete with scorers, spectators etc. We got absolutely drenched for the first hole and 1/2, then it cleared off, and other than being pretty windy, was a good time to play. An added bonus was that Titleist was doing a ball fitting demo @ the course, which netted me two, 2 pack sleeves of Titleist balls. After hitting probably 25-30 balls with a SW, 6I & Driver, their rep's computer analysis determined I was a cross between a Pro V and a Pro V1x, and that either would be an improvement on my game. Since I hit maybe 1/3 of the practice shots well and the other 2/3 mediocre to poor, all it proved to me was that I could hit crappy golf shots with brand new expensive balls equally as well as I can with whatever I find and usually play... Luckily, I played better on the course, from tee to green anyway. Even with the rain, the greens were quick & still usually firm, even after a downpour that left many sand traps looking like mini water hazards. I had four 3 putts on these big, quick, undulating greens, and that was probably about average for my 4some, all of whom were decent to good golfers. The traps were excellent when I played here last week, I could see that they had been maintained until the downpour, so can't mark the course down for mid day weather beyond their control. The fairways, rough and tees were lush and well to very well maintained. The actual course drained well after a good amount of rain fell in a short amount of time, it was quite playable in spite of the downpour earlier. I like the five par 3 and five par 5 layout. Played 18 with NICKESQUIRE1 at 6:36 AM on 6/6 at $30 WR. The front nine winds through attractive tree orchards, dense native foliage and protected marshy areas that make many wide shots unfindable. The back nine runs primarily through an upscale housing area where private yards can come into play but not so tight to cause complaints.

I have been playing this course for 20 years and it was in the best condition I have ever seen it. Every aspect of the course was lush and dialed to perfection. The tee boxes had a few recent divots but most were filled. The fairways were lush and cut short, rough was neat and first cut no more than an inch or two. Beyond the cut rough, native vegetation could be knee high.

The greens were the star of the show! Firm and fast (rolling 10.5 to 11 per the pro shop) putts rolled true but many breaks were very subtle and hard to read in the morning dew and glare. Missing a downhill putt brought a long comebacker.

Overall, a challenging, attractive, beautifully maintained course that puts it in the top 3 or 4 courses in the Portland area.

Teed off @ 636A on a great internet deal of $30 to walk. Played the blues (71.0/134/6307) with Longtee400 in 4h, 15m. Facilities are top notch, they have a very nice snack shop and a well stocked pro shop. The course exceeds expectations in every area. I like the layout with five par 5's and five par 3's. There are a couple of par 5's that are layup holes and even though they are slightly less than 500 yards, few players could reach them in 2 shots because of native marsh areas you have to play short of. While there may not be a single hole that makes you do a WOW double take after seeing/playing it... there isn't anything close to a bad golf hole on this course in my opinion. The traps had nice sand & they were VERY well maintained. Plenty of rakes and every trap looked to have been freshly raked. The primary rough is uniformly cut in the 2 to 3"range, generally you will have a good lie. The issue for shots more than a little offline is that on many holes there isn't that much distance from the primary rough to the native grass &/or protected habitat areas, were a ball is gone, not even worth looking. Knee to waist deep marshland in many cases. While OGA is not a super tight course, there is a decent amount of OB lurking to nail you with any wild shots, plus a generous amount of tall trees. The fairways were lush with very few divot marks. The ball rolled well if you play low trajectory shots and the lies were almost always good. The tees were the weakest area of the course, but still excellent. A couple lean downhill and some of the par 3's had many recently repaired divots. I saved the greens for last. They were pristine, fast & firm. The pro shop said they were rolling at about a 10.5 to 11... they seemed faster. If you had a downhill or side hill putt, we had several putts lip out that were seemingly nicely paced to die at or just past the hole... that left 4' to even 7' putts coming back. They were almost scary quick if you were on the wrong side of many pins. There were several greens that had alot more break than we could see in reading them in the early a.m. shadows and sun glare... playing 9" of break on a 15 footer when 3' was more accurate happened a couple of different times with our group. Overall, any course would be hard pressed to out do the conditions we experienced today.

Played in a shotgun start @ 8A with 2 very nice seniors, $45 before aeration special with a cart. Played the blues, 70.1/125, 6307 in a little less than 4 hours. From when you arrive to when you leave, EVERYONE from the cart people, to the pro shop, to the bar/grill staff are friendly & courteous. I was thanked three different times for playing here today.

The greens are firm and almost scary fast. Better not be above the hole! Very smooth with almost no ball marks. The tees, fairways & rough are all lush to very lush, very well maintained. The traps are about as well maintained as any course I have played around Portland, freshly raked with a decent amount of fluffy sand.

Like the layout, five par 5's & five par 3's are a plus in my mind. This course is deceptive from a yardage standpoint, several holes that may appear short on the card play much longer due to hazards you have to play short of on the tee or 2nd shots, leaving a much longer approach shot to the green than you would expect. Many large, 2 tiered, undulating greens are the real teeth of this course. You better be able to hole your share of 3' to 5' quick putts that you have to start outside the hole or it could get ugly quick on these greens. The overall course condition was superb, hard to improve on what I played today.
