I played there yesterday but chose to put my ball on top of the tee. The greens were fast and in good shape except for a bad patch on #1. Of course someone chose to put the pin in the middle of that patch. Overall the course was in good shape with it's usual amount of hardpan lies. They can never seem to get enough water on this course. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that GUR was marked for a change. It wouldn't hurt to do this all the time instead of just for important tournaments. I'd like to think that my greens fee was just as important. Finally, it was great to see what appeared to be relatively new sand in the traps. Years ago they did this type of maintainence every year. It's a big improvement over the mud traps they had going for quite a while. It's good to see one of my favorite courses getting better.

3PUTTJOHN (below) has this place pretty well summed up and I saw more of the same today. Nevertheless, I had good lies all day long. The repair work appears to be taking hold. A special thanks to Kendall for his tip regarding the food and beverage prices below. I'm sure the staff is adequately compensated.

Simple, I haven't been hitting the driver too well lately. Parred the hole anyway.

The reason that the greens were a little beat up was that there was a Nationwide Tour event there recently. It's probably been a while since the course had seen players who can hit the green consistantly.

Course in good shape. No signs of recent aeration. Ball really flies here. Used one club less all morning. Don't care about the snack shop. Ate breakfast at home. Don't care about the driving range either. Can fall out of bed and still hit a 5 iron 200 yards down the center of the fairway which all you need on the first hole. No second class treatment at this course. I'm 15 to 30 years younger than my playing partners, but they still extended the same low rate to me as they did to my older playing partners. Makes me feel like they appreciate me driving from Anaheim to play their course. No annoying, panhandling club washers either and you can even drive the cart to your car to put your clubs away at the end of your round. Normally, I'm a huge complainer, but this was a great place to play golf and I played well too.

I just call em how I see em. I think it's sad that employees are reduced to this sort of activity by wealthy business owners.

The club washers are getting more aggressive these days. We were ambushed on the 18th green this time. You would think that a club that charges $100 green fees could afford to pay their help a decent wage so that the patrons would not have to endure such unwanted aggressive panhandling.

Ask course marshal Joe F. for discount coupons on green fees and purchases at snack bar.
