I played the Sun course on the last day of the year. There was a hour frost delay but the day turned out to be fabulous. It was a relatively calm wind day. This golf resort never fails to live up to my high expectations. I have played all the courses multiple times and I just can't pick a favorite. The fairways were beautiful and well maintained. The greens were medium to fast and well taken care of but due to the frost they were firm and not real receptive early on but softened as the round wore on. There wasn't much difference from fairway to rough, but the desert is the penalty. Tee boxes were level and in great shape. The POP was a little over 3 hours.

The clubhouse staff is always friendly and it is so clean and neat. There is really nothing I don't like about this facility. The starters and marshals are friendly and I love to engage them in conversation. I highly recommend any of the the courses and on this day the SUN course didn't disappoint. As always I will be back.

I played Rio Secco for the first time on May 5th. The fairways were well manicured and the greens were healthy and quick. The rough was minimal and hardly penalizing. Tee boxes were well maintained and level. They advertise a 4.5 to 5 hour pace of play, but we were done in just over 4 hours. The staff was very friendly and I had a great conversation on tips for the course with the starter at the range. The restaurant/bar was clean and the staff very friendly. I had the rio secco steak sandwich which was fantastic. I highly recommend it. I really loved this course but I have to temper those feelings with the fact that I shot one of my best rounds ever.

I played this course on Monday the 15th of September. They had just opened the course two days earlier from seasonal over seeding. We were cart path only. But we were aware of that prior to arriving because of Greenskeeper.org . The day was hot the course was full. Pace of play was frustrating. Waiting on every shot. The course was in good condition considering the recent maintenance. They had put down a LOT of water. The fairways were thin and often balls were cake with mud. The greens were in very good shape but were long and wet. Overall I was satisfied because I knew what to expect coming in. I would love to come back during ideal conditions and I intend to do that. The only thing I would complain about as page of play. The group in front of us lost sight of the group in front of them early on and there was no marshal to move them along or to let us through. BTW the beverage cart came by often and stayed late into the afternoon.

I played 36 holes at Desert Willow Firecliff on July 20th. They had a special of $49 with a $10 gift card after 8am and a $30 replay coming out to $20 when I used my gift card. The course was in very nice condition with the conditions being extremly HOT! 112 degrees. The only complaint that I have was they put so much water on the course that the traps were wet and heavy and very pock marked from the sprinklers, so you would almost certainly get a bad lie in the bunkers. So I guess I should have stayed out of them. They were punching the greens , which was not noted on GK or told in advance by the reservationist. But the holes were very small and almost not detectable. In fact, after our first round, the guy in the pro shop asked us how the greens were and we said slow but good, he asked about the holes and we then realized that they had been punched recently. We asked when they did it, he said TODAY. Hmmm, didn't really notice. So no real complaint. I have played here numerous times and have always had the highest regards for the establishment both the course and the clubhouse. I really like this place. I will say the rakes that are in the ground and spring loaded are a neat novilty, but get old after a while, as many are broken and not in convient areas. Oh did mention there are a ton of traps!!! I highly reccommend DW.

I played 36 holes and it was great. From the time we arrived until driving off the lot, we received excellent service from the staff. We had a bit of early morning light showers, but after that it cleared up and got warm. The driving range had a number of tiered boxes, but the boxes we were using were (grass) beat up pretty badly and I was worried that the course might be in the same condition. But this was not the case. The course was in excellent condition, the fairways were lush and full, the greens were somewhat soft but still true and fast. I went out of my way to faind pitch marks and found very few all day. Great job by the crew of greenskeepers. Overall I loved this course, you could tell they were not getting the play they normally do, when we finished our first round, we paid for number two and were right back on our way. We did catch another foursome on #2 and it slowed a bit. But we still finished the second nine right at 4 hours. I don't know that anything could have been done if we had ground to a halt, I did not see a marshall the whole day. The beverage cart began at around 10am and she informed us on around noon that she would not be back around. Well she did end up coming back by and told us that they had 14 walkons and they told her to continue on. Overall a great day of golf. outstanding service, very classy facilities (Restroom, dining area, pro shop), and a excellent track that was very well maintained. Oh although I only found the sand twice all day, it was somewhat thin but not hard.

I booked this tee time the night before play on an online discount golf site. I booked the 6:07AM time for $45. I wasn't sure what time sunrise was but was fairly sure I had the 1st tee time. My partner and I arrived at 5:45 and the only ones at the course were the maintance crew. At 6am the proshop attendant arrived and opened the shop at around 6:10. The sun broke the horizon about that time and we were on our way. One of the nines (mission) was flooded from the rains the day prior. So we were routed to the Friars/Presidio combination. Obviously the pace of play for us was awesome, finished in 3 1/2 hours. I was impressed with the condition of the course since the day before they received a couple of inches of rain. The fairways and greens had drained very well and were in good shape. No real noticeable green damage from ball marks and fairways were full and firm. The rough was fairly short and not much of a disadvantage. Bunkers were a little heavy but not hard. The only bad thing about the day was that the river that runs through the course was overflowing and causeing a lot of the fairway drains to back up and flood. This caused a ton of casual water. My brother in law lost two balls in a fairway lake of casual water. Aside from that I had an enjoyable time and the staff was very friendly. We didn't eat or drink anything at the course so no info or rating on the food or drink. If I had to pay full price, I would have been disappointed, but for the price I paid I was happy.

Course is usually in very good shape, the staff will often allow groups off the back nine, just as you are making the turn. This is very frustrating. Marshals seldom enforce violaters of slow play. But the course has character with lots of elevated greens and good greenskeeper staff.
