Played in a GK play event day after Classic outing. After playing the classic course, I was hoping not to get a let down of having to play a course that may not be up to par. Fortunately, Firecliff did not disappoint. From range to putting green, practice area had plenty of room to warm up large number of people and conditions were great.

Bunkering here is fairly severe since greens are contoured such a way that it was tough to make sandy if you fell in some of the bunkers (I feel as though good shot should be awarded even from bunkers but some of the pin placement made it impossible to get close from the bunker. Like others, I would like more rankes available in the waste area if the sands are going to be soft and plays exactly like bunkers.

Fairways were in good shape and there weren't any obvious flaws. Rough wasn't long but ball sank down into it so it made it tough to hit long clubs when in rough. Course was overall very close to immaculate. I would not hesitate to recommend this course to anyone. It is fairly difficult course, especially their greens so be prepared. I thoroughly enjoyed the course.

I don't want to repeat too many things that others have stated so this will be short and brief. Nice open range with ample space for group to warm up at same time. Putting range is also grand and have plenty of places to warm up.

Course doesn't have dramatic elevation changes but every hole seemed like it had subtle little changes in elevation so you were either going uphill or downhill. I also liked the variety of hazard placement. Hazards weren't always on the ones side so it didn't favor certain type of player. I found this to be very refreshing as each hole felt like it was well thought of vs. just another same boring hole that reminded you of another one from previous.

Green was in very good shape but as others have said, it was slower than expected. Overall, I enjoyed the design very much and will be looking forward to playing it again on my next visit to Palm Springs.

With all the recent low score reviews, I knew I had to tone down my expectations this time around. Their driving range is IRON only and there is only enough for 6 to 7 players at one time so plan accordingly. If you're not a long hitter, you can hit driver and still be ok. I think anything longer than 220 yds carry can get through the netting to other side. They have a practice putting green just above the driving range. Normal putting green was closed for repair.

From the first tee box, I could only see very minor condition issues so I was very relieved. Fairways weren't pristine like the last time I played here during same time last year but it was in good shape and did not effect the playing. Sure there were some minor bare spots here and there but I don't know too many course that doesn't have occasional bare spots. Bunkers on the first hole were in immaculate shape with white sand. I noticed the main issue when we all got to the first green to make our putts. In year's past, there was no way possible that my ball would have stayed above the hole on an inclined slope. I had a severe down hill putt that you would normally just tap it but on this day, I actually putted it and it still did not get to the hole. Strategy of the day was to have a down hill putt rather than uphill putt because there was no way you were going to putt it to the hole without conscious effort of "whacking it". It was like putting on fringe. Only other green this shaggy was number 9 putting green and rest of the greens were adequate. It was slow but puttable. Its going to take some time for complete repair but there weren't any major bare spots so it shouldn't be a long process. Some of the later holes when I hit into the bunkers, it was bare. There were hardly any sand in the bunker because they were in process of refilling them. So depending on which bunker you land in, you may have pristine white sand or hard concrete like bare bottom.

There were only mild breezes so course was fairly benign. Layout at Wolf Creek is unlike any other in U.S. Hitting tee shots with canyons in between them is an experience that every golfer should try at least once. Just make sure you're golfing with balls that you don't mind losing since you will lose a few as some of my playing partners found out quickly. Every hole was picturesque as I remember from my last year's trip here and even though experience could have been better with the pristine greens, it still was worth driving up 1 hr to play here.

Post round, they gave us a small survey which came with buy 1 get 1 free draught or soft drink. Restaurant is called Terrace and they have good variety of food that are tasty. Its always good choice to hang out grabbing some light food and enjoy the sunset at one of the most beautiful golf course in the world.

Bottom line, this course is worth playing as long as they have grass. It is by far one of the most intriguing layout in the world. In the best condition, its a course you dream about for months before your trip. In current condition, its still worth the drive but you may not want to do replays. I'll be checking back next year to see how all the improvement has turned out.

We played it on 11/2 around 2:30PM after our morning round at the Lakes. Replay rates were $45 so it was a huge discount compared to the prime rate of $135. At $45 twilight/ replay rate, this course is so worth the 40 minute drive from the strip. Tee box was little long for my liking but it made the tee box look very green. Fairways were in decent shape with few bare spots where Rye didn't grow over. Desert course in my opinion was in better shape than the Lakes course and I enjoyed the layout here better. Customer service is impeccable at every level with 1 exception of bartender. She wasn't very friendly nor did she seem like she wanted to be there that day. Bunkers were somewhat inconsistent. Some had decent layer of sand while some others were thin and was more like waste area. Greens were very soft and rolled well even though it didn't look all that smooth or green. If you're looking for value, I would highly recommend coming out here in the afternoon to play a round. Every bit of great layout as other higher end courses in similar conditions. Only catch is you have to drive 40 minutes. P.S. try not to speed, I saw 3 different police cars on the way there.

Played 11/3/12 at 8AM. Their driving range is auto loader with giant netting. (Range Mat has a hole with rubber tee sticking out and when you hit the ball or roll one off, tee will go down and load up another golf ball). Not a typical range you normally see. They have large putting green with about 5 holes so if you're just looking to roll few putts to gauge the speed, you have plenty of room even during busy times. Starter ran through local rules and young lady took our photos which you have option of purchasing at the end of the round for $20. Similar to many of the other courses in the area, this course was also in the late stages of transition period from the over seeding. Tee boxes were probably the worst aspect of the course. It was pretty bare on many of the holes. This was an issue for one of our player on all par 3's since he doesn't tee the ball so bare area played similar to packed bunker to him. It didn't affect other players. Fairways were in overall good shape with very minor transition issues (Rye has grown out full but bermuda was dormant so ball will sit in a small hole/slot making the shot little more difficult). Bunkers were very soft but it was very consistent and in great condition. Greens were in 2 shades of color (Bermuda and Rye over seed) so it didn't look as pretty but putted true and smooth. It was receptive and overall in great shape. Bali Hai is a fantasy golf land for high rollers so even though fairways are pretty narrow, it is banked towards the middle so its fairly forgiving. With the collection of hundreds (maybe thousands?) of palm tree lined fairways, you can easily mistake that you're in some sub tropical area. The collection of the par 3's here are one of the best I've played. Combination of variety of yardage, elevation, and beautiful vista, all the Par 3's really stood out. Layout is pretty interesting but they are somewhat cramped together so some wild shots can end up in your fairways so be careful when people are teeing off. Course was very busy with first tee box packed with 2 to 3 sets of foursomes waiting to tee off so you may want to avoid those times if you want to play quickly. Since we got out at 8AM, we finished before noon. This is my 2nd time playing here and given the opportunity, I love to play here as long as I don't have to fork over 3 Benjamins.

Played Primm Valley Lakes on 11/2 around 9:30AM. Even though Mapquest had us taking about 1 hr to get there from the Strip, it actually only took us about 40 min. Very friendly staff that took time to make sure you were taken care of at every corner. Driving range has plenty of room for group of 20+. They have practice area and putting green so if you're the type that want to work on your game before going out for a round, this is the place. Lakes course has lots of little interesting turns and nooks to keep your mind busy. Tee boxes are lush but long. Its more like an intermediate rough than typical short trimmed tee box. Course looks to be just getting out from their over seeding so it did have a feel of shagginess instead of the usual clean cut firm look. Fairway does some thinning area due to Bermuda starting to go dormant while Rye grows tall. Rough is only about 1 inch high but everything sat down so it made shots out of rough pretty difficult to control. Greens were very soft and receptive but still rolled pretty well. IMO, if you're looking to play this course in its tip top shape, I would wait until either Rye fills out or play before Bermuda go dormant. Minor aesthetic touch would help this course out quite a bit. I think playing 36 at Primm Valley is great way to open a buddy golf weekend. We played as 3 some so it only took 3.5 hrs. I would recommend playing here, especially 65% off twilight rates.

I played here during 7/28 to 7/31 Bandon Trip. Bandon Trail seems to be the one that is played least amount out of the 4 courses but as far as the course condition and layout is concerned, this is the best one. Its not a links style course so most people avoid it but its truely a gem of a course. Best greens out of the 4 courses, best condition out of the 4 courses. Only drawback of the course is that there aren't ocean views next to any of the hole. I ended up playing this course twice vs. other courses only once due to significant difference in conditioning. When the winds are up, this one is the safest one to play since many of the holes are shielded by the trees. It is also the toughest walk (IMO) out of the 4 courses due to severe changes in elevation.

Old Mac is a layout of different distinction on its own. Only hole number 7 has the Ocean view and rest are inland. I like the uniqueness of the course but with the heavy wind, it was practically impossible to land the ball on the green and have it stay on. Greens look shaggy but rolls fast and its very hard to read the breaks. We struggled mightily and shot at least 10 strokes higher than our handicap. Some areas of the course has minor burn out issues here and there due to recent lack of rain but still in good shape. If you're looking for finely manicured course, stick with Bandon Trail. If you're looking to play GINORMOUS GREENS and HUGE FAIRWAYS that bounces funny off your tee shots, this is the place to be. Course needs some more maturation but as of now, its a good links style course that you can have lot of fun or suffering depending on the day's wind.

Bandon Dunes course is always great choice to start your golf vacation. It has little bit of all the other courses so that you can get a feel for the playing the Dunes. Tee box, fairway, and rough are in good shape. Greens are in excellent shape for seaside course and putts very true. I enjoyed this course the most and if you only have 1 round to play, definitely play this one. None of the courses have cart girl so grab a beverage before you tee off. There are vending areas after 7 holes on most courses so you can refill.

I did a repeat trip to Pacific Dunes and course condition has changed quite a bit. This is probably the most beautiful and fun layout out of the 4 courses but is in the worst condition. Greens are horrible. Its bumpy and much slower compare to the other courses. It definitely doesn't roll true. I would compare the current green condition to week after my local course aerate their greens. Its also the most windy course out of the 4 (IMO). Lucky thing there is lot of ocean view else it would have been unbearable. We had a choice of playing an extra round and this course was the last one anyone in my group wanted to play again. Honestly, it was a pretty big disappointment. Tee boxes and fairways are in good but not great shape but that's expected for ocean side dunes course. Some of the private courses in my home town would have closed down their greens if they had green condition similar to Pacific Dunes. Unless the greens improve tremendously, I would hesitate to play this course unless they gave 50% discount. Proshop staff were excellent and always accommodating.

Take advantage of their twilight rate after 3PM during Summer and do play here. I highly recommend this course. Its a challenging layout with tough greens but scenery is very nice and conditions were top notch. I was very surprised to see an immaculate condition and fun layout. Practice range and multiple practice putting greens are more than adequate to accommodate a big group. By far the best conditioned course in Bandon.

This is actually a Daily Fee public course. You can set tee time through www.hamptongolfclubs.com. For whatever reason, they're not very well known outside of locals. It seems like the Amelia Island area golf is not well known to most people that is not native to the area. This area has so many beautiful layouts that run along the Atlantic at reasonable rates. This course has phenomenal layout that is very challenging. Course isn't easy and greens are pretty tough but if you're ready for challenge, this course will delight your palette. I'd easily compare the layout to TPC Sawgrass and at the $49 rate during weekday ($40 after noon), I jumped at the chance to play. Conditions weren't ideal as there are obvious signs of recovery from past year's financial scrutiny but its improving day by day and at current condition, its still in pretty decent shape for public course. I'm being pretty picky here since my 2 courses before this was Ritz Carlton Orlando and TPC Sawgrass Stadium where conditions were immaculate. If you happen to be flying in or out of Jacksonville Airport, make the 15 minute drive to come play here. You'll love the layout. If they can improve the conditions from 7/10 to 8.5/10, this would be must play course. Even at current conditions, I would recommend to anyone except the ultra picky golfers who seek the best conditioned courses.
