Played on 2/22/13 Monday. We teed off 12:20PM. When we parked our car, attendant came with golf cart and loaded us up promptly. Driving range only has 7 slots only so use your time wisely. After some delay due to starter not present during the shift change, we got to tee off. We had to quite a bit here and there for the front 9 but the 4 some in front of us ended up flipping their cart on 11th hole so they had to quit. One guy had pretty severe damage to his knee so they took him to the hospital. We heard their cart tires squealing multiple times on the front 9 so they must took it to the next level on 11th (They were elderly gentlemen in 50's to 60's) I hope he is ok. After 15 minute delay of flipping the cart back and driving it off to the side, it was smooth sailing for us after that.

Tee boxes are in good shape with only minor dead spots upon closer inspection. Fairways were also in great shape with only minor brown spots appearing sporadically. Rough was in lush and in full bloom. Luckily, I was in the rough only couple times so didn't effect me any at all. I only saw 1 bunker that was still in process of repair and all the rest was filled with pristine white sand with heavy texture. Greens have recovered quite a bit since last time I was here in November. First 2 greens are still less than average but most of the other ones are adequate. It is still in shaggy mode so not as good as I would like the green to be but its getting there. Luckily, it did look like it has been rolled so speed was faster than it looked. It was bumpy but not a big concern.

I could clearly see the improvement over past couple months and I hope next couple month's grass growing season will return the course back to its past glories. I always enjoy the layout of the course and its views. Its still not there yet but its in plenty good shape if you've been waiting to play this course.

I hope I have enough time on my next visit to play here again.

Played here 2/24 around 12PM as 3 some. I must say, I was very disappointed with the overall condition of the course. I played the sister course Lexington about a month ago so I was expecting somewhat similar conditions. Staff was attentive as usual so no issues there. There was a group just ahead of us still hitting from the fairways so we took 5 minutes to hit few balls at the range so that they would be cleared up by the time we got to the tee. We hit our tee shots and took about 5 min to look for the lost ball when the group behind came up on the tee so we played on. We get to the 2nd hole and they were still in the middle of the fairway. This went on for 4 holes before ranger let us play through. By the way, it took over 1 hr to play first 3 hole. After we got through them, it was smooth sailing. It took us less than 3 hrs to play the next 14 holes.

Tee boxes were in poor shape. Lots of dead areas and divots that has not been repaired. Fairways have lot of damages from divots and dead brown areas are more prevalent than I'd like to see for higher end course as this. Conditions were comparable to local munis. Dormant rough was not an issue and expected for this time of the year. Bunker has very thin layer of sand so greenside bunkers were tough since your wedge bounced off unless your ball was sitting in the dead center of the bunker not to mention multiple mini pebbles that would scratch up your club. Greens did have some browning here and there but was in good enough shape except for the unfixed ball marks. Honestly, we wanted to quit after playing about 5 holes. This course has very fun layout with lots of elevation changes. I would recommend waiting few months for the grasses to be repaired before playing the Concord. In the mean time, play the Lexington course where conditions are much better and you'll be able to avoid the disappointment.

Played 2/23/13 Saturday. Its was a windy day so it felt lot colder than it should. Course is only 10 minutes from the strip and when you first arrive, you need to go through privacy gate with security. When you pull up to the bag drop, attendant comes and take care of your bag. Staff was attentive. Club house is extravagant and there are huge lobby and meeting room areas along with multiple restaurant sitting areas. Driving range has room for about 15 people and putting green only has 4 flags to putt at so plan accordingly.

This course has 3 separate 9 holes and we got to play Canyon and Lake combo. This course definitely feels like a secluded private course. Course does wind through the housing area but most of the houses do not come into play. Fairways are extra generous and is firm so you get extra roll. Only saw few bare spots so overall, it was in excellent condition. Tee boxes were in near perfect shape with only few divots and pretty much pristine. Bermuda rough was dormant so it was short and dry. Other rough with same grass as fairways were green but little longer than the fairway. If there were any fault at all, it was their bunkers. It contained too many small rocks so it will scratch and ding your club. My favorite part of this course was their green. It was soft enough to make a good shot stop but firm enough to penalize thin shots. Green was little brown around the edges but it was due to how low they cut their green. It was smooth and fast as pool table. If you're not used to fast speed, make sure you practice before teeing off, else you will struggle with putting.

Overall, I througly enjoyed this course and I will be looking forward to next time I am in town as I will play this course again. There were variety of holes requiring right to left and left to right tee shot and it was never boring or felt like I was playing same hole over and over again. This is top notch course in high society area with expensive cars in the parking lot. Play it while its still public.

I played here on 2/22/13. We had tee time at 11:45AM but with our delay in flight and extra 20 minutes spent at the car rental, we were late. I called in and staff was very accommodating by reassuring that they will work us as soon as we got there. We each gobbled down a delicious hot dog and after 10 minutes of range session we were escorted to Coyote instead of Eldorado since starter though that we would enjoy that layout better. Driving range has ample space for 30+ people and just next to it is short game area. Very nice practice facility.

The layout has desert arroyo but not so severe that you would lose your golf ball. It was great for our 2 high handicappers since they only lost couple balls. Course wasn't easy due to pin placements but it was very playable if you didn't go pin hunting like I did. Tee boxes were little shaggy but it was to protect the tee boxes getting damaged during the colder days so it was just fine. Fairways are medium firm and good shape with few minor bare spots here and there. It did not effect our game any so it was just fine. Sand in the bunker looks crusty and heavy looking but to my surprise, it was fluffy. I had to use higher bounce wedges after my first shot using low bounce wedge did not get the ball out. Greens were mostly soft except for few areas where wind had dried out. Greens rolled medium fast and most putts did not break much at all even though my reads were that it would break more. Only downside about the green is that there were so many unrepaired marks. I fixed 5 to 10 marks on each green but still could not get to half of them. I throughly enjoyed the layout and it was very fun course that gave you opportunity to recover. I wouldn't hesitate to come back and golf here again especially since cost of the green fees here is about half what they charge near the strip.

I played here 2/13 around noon with 3 great GKers Jerry, John, and Johnny. Even though the course isn't near the Strip, its really not very far if you have a rental car. After a mostly traffic free 30 minute drive, you get treated to Oasis in the middle of no where with 3 Great golf courses on Paiute Indian Reservation ground. Do take into consideration that the elevation here is higher than Vegas so about 5 to 7 degree cooler temperature and at least 10 mph wind. Also your golf ball will travel about half a club more when not hitting against the wind.

Drive your car up to the Mandatory bag drop where attendant will load it up to the cart and take it down to the back side of the club house while you check in with the proshop (even if you walk it up, you will still have to hand over the club to the attendant behind the gates since its employee only area). Club house feels gigantic due to open plan hallway that connects the restaurant with proshop with no walls in the way. Proshop is amply stocked with just about anything you would want. Didn't utilize the restaurant so not sure about that one but quick hot dog from outside halfway house served its purpose.

Snow Mt is the only course here that had Poa Annua green. Not sure if it was due to it being afternoon, the greens were slow and bumpy compared to other times I've played here in the past (compared to the other courses on this property). Tee boxes were in great shape and there were no aesthetic faults I could find. Fairways were firm and all drives in the fairway got the extra 20 to 30 yd roll. Rough was short and not very penal. We played 6600 yds and honestly it felt similar to playing a 6000 yd course near the strip. Unfortunately, with the wind drying out the green, it was hard to keep your ball on the green as most shots just bounced off the green including wedges. I think next time, I will play it like links style and roll everything up to the hole instead of carrying my iron shots to the hole.

I was in 1 bunker and the sand felt heavy so I could not get my wedge under it. Low bounce wedge would work better in this kind of sand IMO.

Layout of Snow Mt is very distinctive. Holes do not cross each other and each hole feels as its own. It has lots of water and most don't come into play except for few of the par 3's (definitely in play) and #9 hole. Stay the heck away from the right side on #9. If your ball cross the mini mound on right edge of the fairway, your ball WILL go into water as everything is shaved and sloped to the LIQUID GRAVE.
Each hole winds through without interfering other holes and never once do you feel like you'll get bombarded by errant tee shot from another hole like some other golf courses. I can't promise you'll score well but at least you won't have to worry about getting beaned. When temperatures get little too warm, I end up here often while when its border line cold day then I tend to opt for the courses near the valley. Hope you get to try all 3 and let us know which you like the best.

I got to enjoy this course with fellow GKers on 2/12/13. It was chilly day but ball seemed to travel just fine and lack of wind definitely helped. For those of you who may not know, this course is also where Butch Harmon has his golf school.

This course has 2 distinct 9 holes with front 9 being milder and gentler with less elevation changes and the back 9 that runs through the canyons that may give some golfers vertigo with all the different elevation changes. There is lot of guess work on the back 9 for the yardages and this makes the back 9 more difficult. Due to the dormant Bermuda during this time of the year, it gave a deep contrast between the green fairways and the golden rough. It was visually pleasing to my eye to be able to focus just on the green fairways which is the reason why I hit so many fairways today.
Layout of this course is always fun and challenging for me. For whatever reason, I tend to play well here (My last 3 rounds here are 80blue, 80blue, 80white)even though others seemed to struggle little more at this course.

Some parts of the tee boxes were little chewed up since repair process isn't as fast this time of the year for the native grass but overall it was good shape and did not effect my play at all. Tee boxes are relatives small on certain holes due to the nature of the course so some of the smaller tee boxes had more divot damage than others. Fairways were cut low except for couple holes so you really got a nice roll out of it. Plus you were treated with perfectly tight lie where you can really spin your wedges which you needed desperately as greens were firm and fast. There were however some areas in the fairways that I would like to see the staff put a big white circle to mark it off as Ground Under Repair to reduce any additional damages. Those area looked like it could use less traffic and some TLC. Greens here can be tough especially when they firm up. Its very slippery and undulations aren't uniform so you may see multiple breaks on similar lines. Down hill chip shots are practically impossible to stop and if you're unlucky enough to have a down hill putt (most approach shot will roll back down so you shouldn't have too many down hill putt unless not on the green) be cautious as it'll roll forever. Holes with the front pin location had lot of spike marks and showed most wear and tear so putts were bumpy. Middle and the back areas of the greens was in pristine shape and rolled very true. I was only in 1 fairway bunker and it wasn't fluffy so I was able to hit it cleanly. Sand quality is slightly heavier kind so you do need the full swing to get out.

Even though it was a chilly day, outside staff really took their time to take care of the golfers before and after round. Inside staff was very friendly and made us feel like a welcomed patron of the facility. Thanks again for great day at the golf course. Its always treat for me to visit Rio Secco. You never know who you will run into here as I've ran into few PGA and LPGA golfers here in the past. Just be little discreet about it. Butch's school is between hole 12 and 13 (if I remember it correctly) and instead of crossing the road, u look to your left side, there is a private range for the Butch Harmon school. If you've never played it, come out and try out this challenging golf course.

Played here for GK Play on 2/10/13. This golf course is located in the some of the most expensive real estate area so I can clearly see the price they charge is reasonable. This is Ocean View course that is on the Ritz Carlton property with many beautiful views.

First thing I notice is that if you drive to the course itself, its Valet only. You will also see 6 figure cars all over the parking lot. Basically you can smell money from the parking lot....LOL.

They do not have a driving range but 3 netted hitting bays so place may get crowded. This was fine for me but range balls they had was horrible. Its old and beat up and felt weird when I was hitting it. I would suggest taking couple of your golf ball and use them instead until they replace them. Practice green had plenty of space with lots of variety slope to practice all kinds of putt. Club house is plenty big and is stocked fully with plenty of items for sale.

Starting with the first hole, you can tell that this course will be extra difficult if you don't hit straight tee shots. OB on the left and bunkers running the entire right side. Most of the holes have narrow fairways and premium is put on for straight drives. On the plus side, you may not need to hit driver off the tee so this may save you some strokes.

If this is your first time playing here, pay extra attention to the GPS as some of the holes where you need to hit your tee shot is not readily apparent as I found out after few tee shots. There are many dog legs and greens are very undulating so its good to know which side to miss will also be very helpful.

Ocean views were magnificent and nice breeze in your face while Sun was around felt great. There were some beautiful holes mixed in with few average holes. Greens were fast and pin placements were tough. I would love to play this course again when I'm not recovering from bad chest cold. All in all, I recommend this course to everyone except for the budget conscience golfers looking for bang for the buck. Lastly, staff needs to somehow take care of the coot poop better. Putting on the 18th hole was like playing plinko. My golf ball bounced off at least 3 coot poop even after I cleaned my path somewhat.

I played this course with shebylo, his wife shazza, and xdragon75x on 2/7/13. Thank you Sunny and Sharon for the good time on the links. Weather was light wind with temperature around low 60's. I ran late so did not get to use the driving range but there were 18 hitting slots between 2 tiers. Practice putting green had 4 flags but there were other places you can practice putting and chipping green next to the back tee on the first hole was very nice touch for those of us who wants to chip around while waiting for the group in front to clear.

Tee boxes were well maintained with level lies at every stop. It was perfectly even and very dark green that just looked like one of those fake artificial grass. Fairways were in excellent shape with very little browning if there was any at all. Being Winter season, they did not over seed so bermuda rough were brown but I personally liked it since it was easy contrast between rough and the fairways. The fairways are narrow here and the greens have fairly severe undulation so do take a look at the yardage book to make sure where your bail out areas are since its a tough 2 putt if you end up on the wrong side.

Staff was very friendly and took care of our every needs and even checked to see if pace of play was ok when the group in front of us got held up for few holes. Kudos to the staff.

Overall, I enjoyed this challenging layout where you were forced to carry hazards and need to work the ball a little bit for ideal tee shot. Greens were challenging with moderate to severe undulation with fast speed. Down hill putts were very tricky since it didn't stop and kept rolling while uphill putts I couldn't get to the hole. If you're looking for a challenging course to gauge your game, this is the place to come. I hope to be back again at later time to reassess my game.

I played it on 1/31/13 afternoon around 3PM. They were nice enough to let me start from the back side because first tee all of sudden got really crowded due to influx of high school students. He told me it was pretty packed so I ended up walking instead of taking a cart. This is very walker friendly course with little to no elevation changes. Bad misses are going to be penalized to areas where you cannot go in but overall its fairly forgiving off the tee. Nothing really special but nothing too particularly bad either. Bunkers do need re-tilling but quality of sand isn't that bad. There are frequent areas that are bare in both fairways and rough that could easily be classified as ground under repair but I didn't hit it there so it did not affect my game. Best part of the course was their green. Even though it looked slightly shaggy, it rolled medium fast and stayed mostly true. Every now and then there were some bumpy spots but mostly it was in great shape. Bottom line is that I wouldn't make a separate trip to come play this course but with limited time I had and cost of the twilight rate when walking made it an easy choice for me to come out here and use this course as a warm up. Sorry I left my camera in the car and forgot to take some photos.

We played here on 12/8/12 at 1:30pm. We got here just after our GK play at Desert Willow so hurried to the tee box. Course was booked solid and after 3 holes, it was slower than expected. From what I could gather, there was one slow group about 3 or 4 groups ahead that made everything slow so we ended up playing only 16 holes.

Greens here were on the fast side. It was faster than Classic and Firecliff. All of us rolled it by the hole on the first couple holes. Fairways were in immaculate shape even for the late afternoon and the vista was great with the mountain directly adjacent to many of the holes. I expected little more elevation change but it was relatively flat for being so close to the mountain ranges. Rough, tee boxes, and bunkers were all in very good shape and just a notch below being excellent. Afternoon twilight fee of $64 is well worth it for this course and given the opportunity I will play again and again. I hope to try out the 17th super long par 3 next time from the back tees.

Played 12/10/12 9AM Monday before flying home. It was a chilly morning so course wasn't crowded. There were lots of 2 somes. Ran late so didn't go to the range and only rolled 2 putts and we went out. I've played here few times so I knew what to expect. This course plays down hill for the majority of the 18 holes. Only couple holes are played up hill since most of the times, you ride your cart up the hill and then hit your tee shots down hill, which is very thrilling experience. For Winter condition, course was in excellent shape. There were some brown patches and bare spots but none came into play for us. Greens were in good shape and ball rolled well in medium fast pace. If I had to put a number on it, it probably ran 9.5 on stimp. Rough unfortunately was in pristine condition so it was difficult to hit long clubs out of the rough. Only main issue I perceived was the bunkers as others have noted previously. There are huge rocks in the bunker that can damage your clubs. I highly recommend thoroughly inspecting the area near your ball and pick up whatever rocks and pebbles in your way as I found a small rock ding on my brand new vokey wedge after a bunker shot. If anyone from Troon golf is reading this, I hope they replace the sand and take all the rocks out of there.

Highlight of the round came when we got to 4th hole. There was a coyote hanging out by the green, which was very cool even though we were little hesitant it might be hungry....LOL. P.S. it took a huge poop on one of the other greens.

Wow! This course is phenomenal at every level. When you pull in to the parking lot, group loader golf cart comes and pick you up and your bag and takes you to the proshop. Club house is grand but not over the top. Driving range and putting green is big enough to host more than 10+ people at a time. Practice green is very representative of the actual green and they are fast.

Standing on the first tee, you get a sense of greatness. This course is a modern design with large forgiving fairways. Greens however are different story. They are large but it has subtle breaks and combine that with the fast speed made the putts very difficult. You just could not get aggressive with your putts. xdragon75x, jack16, and myself all had 3 putted at least once by the time we got done with first 3 holes. You also cannot miss your approach shot above the hole as it will not stop and more than likely will roll off the green. Layout was very scenic with no houses on the course with lots of wild life and plants. I just fell in love with this course and I would highly recommend playing this course. Anytime I am in town, I will be making conscious effort to play this course. Condition of the course is top notch. Fairways are in great shape almost carpet like and greens were smooth and fast. It was slightly on the firmer side which I like so for me it was great. Bunkers are very consistent. If they put in some firmer white sand, this course would be pretty dang close to perfect. I was very impressed.
