It has been at least 1.5 years since I've played here and the course was in outstanding shape. Fairways were lush, greens were perfect, the one sand trap I was in was perfect and the rough was nice as well. We played in 4 hours and 10 minutes on a Sunday with a 930 tee time. If our games weren't so ragged, we could've easily played in under 4 hours. The was no one in front of us or behind us the whole time we were there. It was a truly enjoyable experience.

Played the day after the heavy rains. It was cart path only and no playing out of the traps, but the course actually held up pretty well. The greens were in great shape. The fairwarys had some wet spots in the low lying areas, but they were in decent shape, although I could see that they are working on repairing some in some areas. Pace of play was great even with the cart path only rule because the place was empty. I was pleasantly surprised how well the course held up and glad that I decided to play.

Played on Labor Day, so I was prepared for a long round and we got it. It took almost 5 hours to play, but when we did wait, it was literally for 1-2 minutes maximum, so it wasn't too bad. The greens were in great shape today, although people need to remember to fix their ball marks, and the fairways were in pretty good shape. The rough was lush for the most part. My only real complaint are the tee boxes. It seems like the boxes either had some pretty good divot damage or they were level. I don't think I encountered both on one box, but I can't think of any that didn't have one or the other. We did see the cart girl 5 times in our round, so that was good because it was pretty warm out there today. All in all, the round was enjoyable and, except for the tee boxes, the course was in nice shape.

I haven't been out to Olivas since it reopened. Before the redesign, it was one of those courses that I never gave much thought too. But, now, wow, what a great course. Everything about this course from a playing perspective was outstanding. Tee boxes were great, fairways were lush, rough punished just enough, sand traps had the correct amount of sand, and the greens were receptive to shots and rolled very true. Our group wished we would've seen the cart girl more than once and the lack of a true snack bar at the turn hurts a bit, but I can overlock both of those items for this course. What a great value this course is. It is definitely back in my rotation.

Played Rustic today and came away a bit disappointed. My tee boxes (white tees) were in horrible shape in most cases (divots, tons of sand, not level). The greens are coming back okay, but they were not as firm as normal and had some type of fungus growing on them in a few instances. The fairways were in nice shape, although there were a few really rough areas in them as well. The rough and sands traps are what they are at Rustic. I'm not sure what the deal was today, and since this is probably my favorite course I will certainly be back, but I am hoping for a huge improvement on conditions the next time I visit.

Made the trek out to the Goose on a Sunday morning. I forgot how much I enjoyed the course. The tee boxes were in great shape, the rough was just thick enough to penalize you, the fairways were great (a bit damp because of the 0730 tee time), and the two sand traps I found myself in were in great shape with the correct amount of sand.
The only slight issue I had was with the greens. They were soft and very receptive of shots, but they were a bit fuzzy. It looked like they just hadn't mowed the greens in about 2 days. This made them much slower than I remember from the past rounds I've played here. However, they rolled pretty true (kind of surprised me) and they had hardly any divot damage at all.
The best part of the round: we finished in a hair under 4 hours on a Sunday! I wonder if the economy is hurting the Goose a bit right now because this course is well worth the green fees on the weekends. I've got to get back here more often.

Played on Memorial Day Holiday. The course was in pretty good shape all around, but I can tell why the course is punching the greens tomorrow; it's time for it. Pace of play was outstanding (we playd pretty early in the morning). Overall, another enjoyable round at Rustic.

Play was a little slow today on the front, but I think it to do with their being fog until around 0830 or so. However, we did play behind a foursome that played the blues even though only one person in the group should have. I really hate it when dudes can't get past their egos and play tees that they really shouldn't be playing.
Anyway, the course was in outstanding condition (except for a few stripped areas in the 18th fairway where the sod had been removed and the area was marked under repair). The greens were rolling quick and true. The fairways were in nice shape as well. The traps (yes, I found my share today) were in outstanding shape. This course is too quirky for some, but I'm not one of those people. I have always liked the course and today reminded me of why; it's always in great shape when I play.

Course was in decent shape. The lack of rain is starting to catch up with almost all courses right now, but Tierra Rejada is trying to keep the place looking green. Nothing really to complain about today, but really nothing to really point out as being great either.

Got in another round a week after my last. Course conditions were relatively the same. It seems as if there is a good effort by some people to fix the ball marks of others on the greens, but the people who play here still need to get better. The fairways are really in great shape. The course was pretty dry because of the high winds the day before and thus it played pretty hard and fast. As I mentioned last week, the sand traps are pretty much a crapshot, but if I would just avoid them, I wouldn't need to worry about them. The course is in really nice shape right now and I recommend it as always.

Played right before noon on 12/27/06. It was windy and downright cold, but still enjoyable. The course was in very good shape from my point of view. Greens were in good shape with minor damage from unrepaired marks (way less than usual). The fairways were nice and surprisingly dry considering the downpoor that occured the night before. The rough was pretty darn short all over the course, and the traps are what they are, which is to say a complete crapshoot depending on where its located. Pace of play was good and the cart girl came by 4 times during the round to help all of us load up on coffee (like I said, it was cold). Another enjoyable round at Rustic.

First, the bad about the course and I really only have one: the tee boxes. They were either overgrown, had severe divot damage or both. They were absolutely hammered.
However, the rest of the course was in great shape. If they truly did punch on the dates listed, it was hardly noticeable. The greens rolled really well, the rough was real lush (I found it a few times) and the fairways, while pretty tight, were also in great shape. Pace of play was good for the day after Turkey day (4.5 hours). Once they get the tee boxes in order, this place will be top notch once again.
