What happened to La Mirada? After the renovations last year, I thought La Mirada was one of the best maintained courses locally. Everything was green, sand traps were filled with beautiful white sand, most of the fairways had decent lies with grass, hardly any hard pan areas. In the last few weeks, fairways are either very wet or muddy, big tractor tire marks imbedded in mud, no grass on some of the fairways, many ball marks on the greens (I repaired at least five on every hole!), horrible greens (on #15, my ball landed on a bumpy bare spot, so I had to move my ball marker off to the side where there was some grass and flat lie!), ladies bathrooms were dirty and smelly (I understand there is a sewer problem, but it hasn't been fixed.) This is truly a disappointment, especially since it is such a very popular course. Kudos to the young ladies manning the pro shop, they are sharp, personable, and efficient!

It pains me so to have to write a negative review about a course that I usually enjoy so much and whose ownership has most certainly gone out of their way in the past to make amends, but if we can't be honest about current conditions on Greenskeeper.org , then what's the point?

La Mirada is currently in a very poor state that was tough for me to imagine upon reading the last review. Surely it wasn't that bad, right? Sadly, it really is a bit of a mess right now. Luckily we only paid twilight rates (my buddy walking for $19 and me in a cart for $31), so that cushioned the blow a bit, but tough to imagine what those paying full price earlier in the day must have thought.

I can't even describe what the greens are going through right now. Besides being some of the bumpiest I've ever played, they are riddled with ball marks like a lunar crater because the surface is so soft that almost any ball adds to the mayhem. Almost every putt was an exercise in picking a line with the fewest possible lumps. I'm not sure if they were somehow aerated or something, but there were many with long, vertical lines cut through them just near the surface, but again, super soft and very slow and frustrating.

The fairways are sadly not much better. Perfect drives rewarded with super thin, burned out grass or just a dirt patch altogether. On occasion though good lies were had and it was cause to celebrate. The rough a hodge-podge of super thin, super thick, and just right - no rhyme or reason to be found. The best part of the course were the bunkers which were in good shape, and most of the tee boxes were fine with the exception of one or two which could have been more level or better manicured.

POP was surprisingly okay for a Friday afternoon although we did wait sometimes two groups deep on many holes. I was surprised we actually finished the round to be honest. But again, I will never leave this place without the desire to return. I picture this wonderfully fun layout in perfect conditions and it just makes me giddy with anticipation. Unfortunately, that reality is quite distant right now. But from what I heard from the nice guy we ended up playing our round with, he said they had recently hired a new greenskeeper and that things will be on the up again very soon.

I certainly hope so because I really do want to come back as this remains one of my favorite courses in the rotation, but I've truly never seen it in this poor of shape. Faith. I have faith. Better days are surely ahead for La Mirada, just not this week. Maybe the whole month.

Played yesterday at 2:22 for $32 w/cart, just under 4 hour round. The last review a week ago stated conditions were OK...now they are less than OK in my opinion. The greens were not good, with inconsistent speeds, dead spots, and way more unrepaired ball marks than usual (which is saying something, because there are usually a lot!). Patchy fairways, lots of piles of grass clippings all over, and plenty of straight dirt lies. The bunkers I was in had plenty of soft sand over a decent base, so there's the bright spot. Needs some work.

time to open the restroom facilities but thankfully they have 1 (one) CAN behind the 3rd green.
Whew!!
General conditions are OK with the exception of rough that was inconsistent. I know its a "county" course but it doesn't take much to have the ground crew cut around tree wells and
eliminate the tufts of excessively long rough where balls can disappear too easily!!!
Tee boxes were chewed up but it always seems to come down to the greens which were OK.
Didn't use it but they have a very good practice facility. Got food at the turn and should have
phoned it in because they are in no hurry to help the "playing thru" golfer..
Thank God my 4some only plays here once a year!!

Played here 6/23/17. I have been coming here for over 30 years. Learned to play golf on this track so it has a nostalgic feel for me. Service is much improved compared to a few years ago. Starter got me out 20 min early. Pace was lighning fast for La Mirada, 4 hours :) Course is in ok condition. Fairways are good except when they're not :). Most of them are good but there are quite a few ares that are really funky. Thin and hard. Traps looked ok (only in one fairway bunker). Tees were not so great. A lot of uneven spots that were pretty chewed up. Not that you can't find a place to put your ball but it might not be where your number one choice would be. The greens.... While they were in pretty good looking condition they were SLOW. Like really slow. Like my brain can't get my arms to hit the ball that hard slow.... Did I mention they were really slow? Over all it is a fun track and I personally love to play it. Not too demanding and you can make some birdies.

We got out on time, lot of players out there, thought it would be slower but POP was 4.5 hrs.
The course is in OK shape, I have seen it better, some fairways were extra wet, #12 was extra wet, also a lot of cut down limbs lined the left side ot fairway, 2 of our guys hooked them in there and could not find the balls.

The fairways in general had decent roll, a few thin spots, a few wet ones. The rough for some reason had not been cut, that also led to some hard to find or lost balls. I lost one on the par 3 13. most of the bunkers were not raked (this is always a problem here), but they did have decent sand.

Customer service was good, friendly, and professional.

It has been several years since I played LM and decided to head over there this morning, 5/24. Got there about 7:45 and the cute starter got me right out joining a twosome. I wanted to play here thinking I could say something great about it since I have always liked the layout. Well, can’t say it’s great and can only say its ok. This course gets a lot of play but today it wasn’t very crowded. Pace of play was just under 4 hours. Fairways were in good shape. Didn’t have a bad lie all day. Tee boxes were ragged. Some of them were not very good yet some were in good shape. Surrounding the tee boxes was uncut grass/weeds. Didn’t affect anything but looks messy. There was not much rough off of the fairway but some of the holes had deep weeds. Not sure what else to call it. You could easily lose a ball in there. All it needs is a lawn mower and it would look presentable. Wish they would cut it. The greens were rolling good. They did put some light sand on them for some reason which really didn’t affect them but they were pretty soft. Not many ball marks out there which was nice to see. Noticed some minor changes to the course. A sand trap now exists on your drive straight away on 10. Used to be a rock wall there. Also there is a new bunker on the left side of the fairway on 18. Both come into play. I enjoyed playing here on this day and have always enjoyed this course. Not on my best courses to play list but certainly nice to get out here every now and then. It just doesn’t wow you.

Found myself out in La Mirada during twilight hour and thought it might be a good idea to stop by one of my favorite local courses. It looked like it was going to be a POP disaster from the looks of the parking lot as twilight began, but actually went out almost immediately with an older couple who were great, passed a fivesome of rambunctious 20-somethings on the second hole (thanks for that, guys!), and actually finished all 18 before the sun even went down. Amazing!

I always enjoy myself at this course and this day was no different. Unfortunately the rains from the other day wreaked a little havoc in the form of crusty bunkers (not all, but a good amount), standing water in places, and a lot of debris in places. I feel for the staff at La Mirada as the low-lying areas of holes 6 and 16 simply get thrashed when the rains come. They were soggy, debris-filled and a bit unruly on top, but I'm sure that will be far better within a couple of dry days.

The greens were mostly in fine shape with a few ball marks here and there, but nice, comfortable speeds and nothing too tricky in the form of undulations or breaks. You get what you see here. The tee boxes were a little rough in places and could use some TLC. The fairways have some dried out areas as well but are mostly playable, while the rough is very playable and often a better surface to hit from if we're being honest.

Played the blue tees and got on twilight with a cart for $31, so that's pretty great for this super fun 18. You'll get plenty of elevations, some fun 'bombs away' holes, a couple of tricky ones, and lots of smiles. It's especially fun when it's a four-hour (or less) round.

I will always recommend this course despite the fact it's looked a bit better than in its current state, but I trust the staff here to make every effort to bring out its best side very soon. Always worth a visit in my opinion.

Played today in a nice POP of 3.5 The course is in good shape, but IMO it could be better? Course was very wet from overnight moisture and course watering. Made the course play longer than it really should. Tee boxes are a little beat up, not to level, but clean; very little rough to deal with; fairways had decent coverage and did provide good lies, though they were wet (# 16 CPO due to water run off of broken sprinkler) and not providing much roll; bunkers were playable, though damp. But the greens were chipping/putting well, though some still showed aeration marks that did effect putting. Customer service was excellent at all levels. A good course but very busy (stacked up when we made the turn) and not a course you want to play when wet/damp (IMO).
