Took my grandaughter here today so she could work on her short game. She recently finished in 2nd place on her HS golf team that is comprised of both boys/girls. Loves the game and I hope she continues for years to come. I had not been here in quite some time and I was impressed with the conditions as well as the customer service. Everything green and in good shape. As many know or not know this is an 18 hole Par 54 course. But the variety of the holes (shortest 88 yds longest 145)
provide a decent challenge. Especially with all the mature trees and stream throughout the course. But its a very enjoyable course to see how good your iron play is as well as hitting to very small greens. And the greens are all raised with sharp run off edges as well. If you find yourself in the area and have time give it a go. Tucked in a nice area with many recreational amenities but no homes, traffic only nice quite serenity and the occasional yell of excitement from excited new golfers. I think you will enjoy it.

Played this AM on a very chilly AM. First out so done in 2 hours. Course is beginning to show wear/tear from the cold weather in its fairways. Unless you are unable to reach the green in regulation, you should not experience any issues. But around the greens you will when you need to chip. Greens are still in really nice shape, except for # 7. That one has been aerated (no others) so it must have had an issue? Greens have plenty of speed in them when you chip/putt, giving one a fun time on them (but hey who likes slow greens). Customer service excellent. Virus rules now require masks everywhere while on the property. I saw a sign regarding players being from the same family only but it was obvious that rule is not being enforced at present? Perhaps this week as the new stronger rules kick in at Midnight tonight.

Played today with my family who is still in town. Great course to play for those starting out. Got right out at 7 AM and finished in 2 H. Course is in very nice shape at the moment. As most know (some do not) tee boxes are mats (makes for a great lie). If you do miss the green or come up short, the grass around all the greens is in great shape for chipping. There are no bunkers. Many trees and a creek also runs through the course that will come into play. The greens were just great. Better than some of the more expensive courses in the area (IMO) and a lot better than most muni courses (like LA County). They chipped/putted with speed all round and were fun to play on. Customer service is always excellent here. I like this course to work on my short game and to bring family and friends to who are either not regular golfers or just starting out. It is a wonderful facility and I can see why it is always full. + you can play under the lights. The course is not a push over by any means. I personally believe any golfer would enjoy this place.

His review hits all the areas and items I would mention, so no need to reinvent the wheel. Only item I missed on his post was the part about reservations. But they were accommodating and reminded me for the future and sent me right out. A totally enjoyable course set within a beautiful park in Pasadena. I look forward to playing here again when the opportunity presents itself. Recommended. Walking only obviously. Virus rules in effect not only at check in but requested on the course. Even signs posted at each teeing area?

Tough these days to get a tee time on the weekends if you haven't reserved early. So having played 18 at Santa Anita on Friday 8/7 and wanting to get out and reinforce the positives, I opted for late 5:15 Sunday afternoon round at the Arroyo. I hit the range there periodically but hadn't played the course in some time. I wasn't actually up for another full regulation round and I knew I could get around this 18-hole, par-3 course in a couple of hours or so. The other, more practical consideration was that almost no place has short game areas or putting greens open and this was a rare opportunity to focus on those skills. Reservations are required and they have been pretty busy. Put out as a single, on the first tee I invited the two guys behind me to join me. Yardages range from mid-80's to just under 150 yds. for the longest hole. The conditions hold up pretty well under the circumstances. Tee boxes are mats, so unless you find a little patch of grass off to the side from which to tee off, you get a consistent start since the mats are all level and in decent shape. Otherwise, the course is healthy and green. Even though it's par-3 and the fairways theoretically don't come in to play, for the average skill set out there, they usually do. They are lush and cut so as to be good for playing your approach shots. The rough is good and can be thick in places, and there is a little stream that runs through the middle of the course. There are no bunkers, so that is an area of short game you won't get to exercise, but the area around the greens is healthy and consistent for chipping. The greens are generally small, a little elevated, soft and receptive but surprisingly quick, most with some slope to them and they make for good practice and a nice little challenge. With the lushness, many trees integrated into the layout, and inherent compactness of a par-3 course, the place really feels like a mini-oasis. The venue also has a miniature putting course and a mats-only regular range, both open. In non-Covid times, there is a putting green and short game green with bunkers and chipping area. While the pace was slow but steady at 2.75 hours, the end always seems to come quickly. It was the perfect, golf-lite, change of pace to finish my weekend.

In the mood for par 3 and a change of scenery, I headed up to Pasadena. This is a very nice little 18 hole course and it’s in great shape. The holes range in length from about 85 to 130 yards. There are huge trees everywhere and a small creek running through the front 9. I really dislike hitting from mats so I did tee up on the grass. The fairways are lush, the rough is nicely trimmed and the greens are soft and medium speed. There are no bunkers. It was fairly busy so POP was slow at 2hrs but it was a very nice way to spend the morning. Recommended.
