Played yesterday in the worst fog I have ever seen here? With everyone yelling "clear" you would have thought we were all on patrol or searching for criminals? Pace of play was 3 hours (some must have canceled). Call ahead if you are planning to play (foggy for the past week). Not really pleasant conditions to play in, regardless of whether you know the course or not? Other than that, the course was in good condition from tee to green as I said last week (but then again you could not see everywhere - lol). Customer service excellent. On the bright side? With the fog and mist, the course is not drying so fast and maybe they can conserve some water for the hotter months that will be coming?

Played a 6 hour round in a tourney starting Sunday at 10:45 am Sunday. Brutal but predictable. I agree with the recent reviews but I write to say (1) vast improvement in green speed over last week and (2) they had an employee out raking the traps at 2-3 pm (when I saw him). In 30 years (or more) of playing LA County courses, I have never seen the latter. I'd rather they patrolled the heck out of the course and ejected anyone that did not rake, no tolerance, but in the alternative having someone in the afternoon rake the bunkers is a great service. Really appreciated seeing it.

Played this AM in a nice pace of 3 hours. With the dense fog, surprised it did not take us longer? Customer service excellent. Fairways are in good shape, despite the water cutback. Bunkers clean and no issues. Very little rough to worry about anymore, but you can get into some bad areas when off the fairways, due to the dryness. Tee boxes had some issues with accepting tees (hard ground) but they were all clean and of course still level. Greens appeared in very good shape and provided good putting/chipping and acceptance of well placed shots.

Glad I am familiar with the layout. It would have been brutal for newcomers. Course was in decent shape, especially the greens. POP was 4.5 hours despite the lack of visibility.

Been awhile since I've visited LV, was able to book a single tee time by phone one day prior, thanks A-Golf ... you're finally catching on. Got around on a Friday in 4:05 with a 6:35 tee time, $29 walking fee. As 24hour has mentioned in his previous review, water is rationed here and it shows, as most areas away from fairway landing zones are dry and becoming more hardpan the farther away you venture. The firmness allows for many tee shots to run out due to sloping fairways so you must use caution when picking your line or you'll end up under trees with nothing but pine needles and tree roots. Greens today were very firm, too, and not as receptive as Poa can be, but rolling fairly true ... sometimes bumpy with varied speeds. Bunkers have great sand, some were maintained, some not. Altogether, the layout at LV is still the same ... you'll get a lot of side hill lies and it can be a real challenge to keep your ball in play consistently ... but the dry, firm conditions put those who do not hit a straight or predictable drive at a serious disadvantage. You've been warned.

Played this morning in a nice POP of 3.5. Would have been even faster, but ran into some slow groups who only played the back 9. Course is in very nice condition. Greens still have some evidence of verticut in them, but they were mowed this morning and it made a great difference in the speed (all in good shape). No issues with any tee boxes (all new within the last two years). No issues with sand traps all looked good and played well. Fairways were in good shape and providing good lies and roll. Get to far off the fairways and you are going to run into hard pan and thin lies (caused because of drought conditions). The course is being forced to cut back 36% on their water use of 2013 (yikes). Customer service excellent at all levels.

Played today in 3 hours. Some things have changed since my review of last week. All green fees have gone up at County courses. $27 is now $29 for walking. $14 senior is now $16 for walking. Cart fees ... Continue »

Played today in 3 hours. Some things have changed since my review of last week. All green fees have gone up at County courses. $27 is now $29 for walking. $14 senior is now $16 for walking. Cart fees have not gone up (yet). Fairways are narrowing as the outer limits of them are not being watered. Greens which were nice last week, have been verticut and are very slow. Every Friday in May has a tournament and no outside play will be accepted. Customer service excellent at all levels (thanks). Some work continues on cart paths but does not hinder the golf.

Surprisingly got a late booking as a single at Los Verdes on Sun at 12:45, but of course finished and was back in my car at 6:45. That's just the way it is here - either make sure you've got a full, free day, or just skip it. Cold day with lots of wind and flashes of sunshine between mostly gray skies. Maybe affected my game, but I was abysmal. Course conditions are pretty optimal currently, with the very nice greens stealing the show. Good bit of playable dead grass out there, especially on the front 9. Place would be epic with green fairways. Sand was very nice and although some of the tee boxes were hard as rocks, there was mostly always a good patch to tee off from (with the exception of the par 3 12th). Only complaint is of course waiting on probably 15 of the 18 holes to varying degree, but stop complaining if you know that in advance. It's popular for a reason - tough track, length needed, great views, quality greens.

Played 4/28 in 3 hours (I wish to thank the 3 some in front of us who took off and was never seen again). Course is in good shape (IMO). They have been moving the tees around on all holes, so you get clean/level areas and it is allowing other tee areas to grow back in. Sand traps were all clean and in good shape and heard no complaints. Rough is pretty non existent, due to non watering on non essential areas. Fairways are in nice to good shape and it looks like they have a watering plan in place to keep them that way (very few thin lies). Greens have come back from aeration very very nicely. They hold shots well. Provide good chipping and fast putting. Customer service excellent at all levels. Hats off to the superintendent who has a tough job of keeping the course (and is doing so) in playing shape during the water shortage. They have also done a lot of cart path repairs that have made things much better, in that regard.
