Played in the GK event 5/4. Though a bit above my pay grade with a slope of 135 from the white tees, I found the course is excellent condition. The tee boxes & fairways were lush and the greens were clean and rolled true. The staff was very good; I give them the 3 P's: Professional, Pleasant & Polite. Only complaint is with the inconsistent bunkers. Some fairway bunkers were so hard pan they felt like hitting off the cart path. Some greenside bunkers were fluffy but others were so devoid of sand that our playing partner hurt his wrist when his club hit the mesh mat under whatever amount of sand was hiding it. The course is quite unforgiving. If you spray a ball, it will be gone for good. I will play here again with a great rate like this GK event, but would not come back and pay rack rate until my game improves.

First playing the Valley Course at RR. I was not disappointed. Greens rolled fairly true; a little on the slower side but what you saw is what you got sort of reads. No tricks. Pace of play was quick. Some of the bunkers were a little thin on the sand but many not. Fairways were lush. Rough was patchy in spots especially around some of the greens. Overall though I was impressed with the course conditions. Pace of play was quick. Facilities here are top notch and the help.... hats off to the staff -- they are attentive.

Would I play here again? That is what it always comes down to... of course I would AND I would recommend this course to all my golfing buddies. Thanks again to the management and staff at Robinson's Ranch for hosting this event and Johnny for getting us on this really great course.

This course is in prime condition for 2012. The rough is coming to life, the greens are flawless, and the streams are flowing. The only complaints are that the tee box grass is a bit thick (leading to many low tees / topped balls) and some of the fairway bunkers are more rocks than sand. Finished in 4hrs 5min and the pace of play was fine. This course is tough but I've always managed to leave with more balls than I came with.

Played here on a Saturday morning and was one of the first groups off. With the challenging layout some holes take longer than others but we were still able to finish in about 4.5 hours. Bring a lot of extra balls, you will need them from the blue or black tees. As a 17 HDCP, I am lucky to shoot under a 95 here, many tight tee shots and fast greens. If it is windy out this course will destroy you' palying early in the cold is smarter than later in the wind.

Customer service is great from the moment you arrive and they are walking up to you to grab your bag, to leaving the course and they are ready to wipe your clubs. Greens were fast (sign in pro shop read 10.5 stimp), firm, and rolled true. Fairways were overseeded last fall and look really nice bordered by the dormant bermuda rough. However, the overseeded areas are starting to wear thin and several holes were cart path only. Many areas had a lot of unfilled divots. The rough was scalped in most areas to a fraction of an inch, allowing balls to roll through unimpeded. Balls entering the rough could either roll into the fairway or down into the scrub brush. If you were unlucky enough to have a thin lie in the rough, imagine hitting off of firm dirt with little grass nubs and roots to support your shot. Sand was thin in most bunkers; decent sand near greens and really crappy sand in fairway bunkers. I wanted to rate this course higher. I know it is winter, so conditions can be sketchy right now. That's the way it is at many courses right now. When the weather warms up, it will be real good. I will continue to play here knowing it will always be a good value as far as course conditions are concerned.

I walked up staff member took my bag and put it on a cart as I went to check in, as this was my first visit to RR, I thought nice touch. Had 10:40 w/golf now $59. I was asked if I would like to move up and got out 30 minutes early. A quick stop at the range, a short stop on the putting green, and the starter came to me (no loud PA here)and pointed me to the first tee. This time of year the rough is dormant and brown, the fairways are green and in fine shape, so the views from the elevated tees are quite dramatic. The weather was not a factor, the course is tough enough anyway. I had a very good driving day, so I was in the fairway all day. I discovered the yardage markers leave something to be desired, I was in 5 bunkers on the front side (2 sand saves) it was like I was on 4 different courses, all different textures, depth of sand, etc. It is winter so I should stay out of sand traps. RR Valley course is a very interesting lay out. It is not a contrived target course, like some I could mention. It plays fair, and is a challenge, I think a little course knowledge would go a long way. I saved the greens for last, I loved them. The guy at check in said "very fast today, maybe a 13" I don't know about all that, they were quick, there holes you don't want to be above, but they role true and are more smooth than they look. thees are the kind of greens you love to play on. Thees are the kind of greens that make the course. Yes I will go back...soon

Played on 1/13. Course is dry and hard but in great condition for this time of year. Fairways and greens are lightning fast. The wind was up and with the course so dry every slope in the fairway or on the green was exaggerated and your ball just kept moving. Fun day but hard to score well due to difficult conditions. The staff here has always been top notch but on this day I have to give them two enthusiastic thumbs up. Played on a $25 email special and when i got to the course the parking lot was packed as well as the range. Figured it was going to be a long day. It was busy but the starters were so well organized and kept everything flowing. With 2 18's they clearly have an advantage but we did not wait once on the course and finished in well under 5 hours. RR is outstanding in every aspect of customer service. I will back again and again. Forgot to mention that even on a busy day like this every staff member made you feel welcome, they were courteous, enthusiastic and actually doing their job at a high level.

Played the Valley course on Saturday morning (1/7) at 7:30am. It was very cold for the first few holes (37 degrees at tee off). After that, the weather was perfect. Right now the Valley course is in real good shape. The fairways are more lush than any of the better courses in North LA county or Ventura county. I've played Moorpark CC, Angeles National, Rustic Canyon, Lost Canyons, etc... RR is in the best shape of all. The greenside bunker sand is in great condition. The one fairway bunker I found was crusty on the top and soft underneath. The greens were just about right. Fast enough without being too fast and relatively smooth. I highly recommend playing this course right now. Best winter conditions I have found.

The course seems to be in full dormancy mode. The only green you see is tees, fairways, and greens. The rough is straw-color and cut to a fraction of an inch. No way will an errant tee shot stop before the many hazards. On the other hand, fairways are lush. The greens are still recovering from the last aerification. Should be fully healed, but it isn't. Not bad though; they rolled nicely (except for a couple of putts here and there) and were somewhat fast. Holes 4, 8, 12, and 16 were cart path only. Who knows why? I could see no reason for it. Customer service is still tops here.
