Pretty juicy after all the rain. Still, very good conditions here. Some of the bunkers were severely washed out however. Greens were still quite fast except for the hundreds of worms coming out of them. A bit strange to putt through. Always a good time here.

Was still cart path only today. Greens were slickity fast & rolling true. Fairways & tee boxes lush. Overall fantastic shape. Good pace & good golfing good times. Dig it man...

Played on 10/06/09, a couple of weeks after aerification. It was cart path only :-( and greens had not healed in :-(. It should be much better in a couple of weeks. As for the fairways, well, they were as nice as I have ever seen them. Great lies, lush conditions, mowed to about 3/4". Greenside sand is great, while the fairway bunkers are crap. That is the way they have been keeping them on both the Valley and Mountain courses for as long as I can remember. We started as a threesome late in the day (about 3 p.m.) and finished 17 holes by about 6:30. It was getting dark and we decided to pass the foursome ahead of us on the 17th and play out on 18. Great pace of play until these guys just sort of jumped in ahead of us (probably at the turn when the group we originally had been following bailed). They weren't too slow until the 14th hole when we had to wait a little. All in all not a bad afternoon of golf.

I played in the GK outing on August 20th. The temperature was near 100 but not overbearing. The course was in surprisingly good shape for late August. Tee boxes had some unrepaired divots. Fairways were playable with most divots repaired with sand/seed mix. Errant tee and fairway shots that found the rough, ESA, and O.B. most certainly required a ball drop! Sand bunkers were inconsistent with some being wet underneath and others playable. The greens were medium fast but putted true even with unrepaired ball marks.

The GK staff arranged another great outing and the Robinson Ranch staff were very accommodating throughout the day. The facilities and clubhouse are set up nicely for groups such as our on-line community. In addition to the golf, the course provided scenic vistas on many of the holes, first class service by the staff, and a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy it! I would recommend this course to anyone.

I got the priviledge to play this course on the last GK outing. It is a beautiful course with great scenery. it was a hot hot hot day but the course was very inteligently watered, there were no extremly wet spots or dry spots anywhere. fairways are tight with quite a few doglegs and blind shots sometimes intimidating you on the shot. The elevated par 3 on the front 9 should definitely be played with a club 30 yards less then the yardage of the hole. all in all its a great facility.. the tuna is delicious also.

Playing the Valley course with my fellow GKGC mates was quite a fun experience. The course as usual was demanding and tricky. many of the holes try to temp you into going for the green, but be careful because many hazards await you.... (Smile) The dreaded "Death Row" claimed no victims from our group (Whew) The weather was great and the course was in excellent shape with the greens being true and quick. I can't wait to play here again.... Hopefully Soon... (Smile)

I played RR Valley as a part of GK outing. I've always heard nice thing about the course, but never played it - probably because it's a LONG trek from OC - especially longer on the way back fighting the traffic on I5 freeway. As for the course, it's a very well kept with nice greens and well manicured fairways, especially considering the heat and dryness in that part of town. Staff were nice and helpful, although there our group was shadowed by a guy on a noisy fairway blower for the first 3 holes, blowing grass clippings onto us when putting on the green. We finally discouraged him to follow up when few tee balls went over his head on the third fairway. One issue I had with course - what's with poison oaks along the cart path? I can understand having these in deep in the woods since they are part of nature, but right up against and along many of cart paths? Shouldn't the golf course managers recognize these shrubs with potential for misery and cut them off, at least keep them away from the reach of botanically unsavvy golfers innocently driving along the path? If you are planning to playing this course, be sure to look it up in the internet and familiarize yourself with poison oaks because you may leave the course with more than what you bargained for.

to start off, i had a great time. the course is in great condition for the sun it sits under. lots of hazards and places where to get introuble. the range sits on a down slope that kinda bug me. one thing that really bugged me was when i dropped of my bag in the front, somebody picked up my bag and took it to the cart. when i went to my bag they had ripped off the putter holder and tried hidding it. talk the head pro. said he would take care of it but haven't heard from him yet. overall great to play there. NOTE: your driver needs to be on its best behavior.

Played in the GK outing on 8/20/09. The Valley course is in good condition overall. The greens were not real green due to the time of year/heat, but they putt better than they look. Same could be said for the course as a whole, it doesn't look real lush because it's not overly green, but it plays well. The fairways were hard, well maintained and produced lots of roll. The downwind long drive holes both produced 350+ yard winning drives from guys on the wrong side of 40!

I was in three greenside bunkers, and the sand varied from fluffy - perfect in one, to thin where I hit bottom in another to finally one bunker with lots of rocks in it.

If you venture more than a few yards out of the fairway, get another ball and +1 to your scorecard. Many fairways are red staked along both sides and the bushes - undergrowth will not likely allow you to find the ball, much less play it. The layout is scenic and has numerous really good golf holes. However, there are FAR too many par 4's that most players would need to use irons on to either lay up short of hazards where the fairway runs out or because it is overly narrow in the normal driver landing zone. Having three par 4's where I hit 6-8 iron off the blue tees to remain short of a hazard or the end of the fairway is at least two too many when you only have 10 on the course.
