17 of 18 holes are now fully open, only #7 is still a temporary par 3. Course plays to 35-36 = 71. Fairways and greens are in excellent shape. Tees are very good except where some depressions remain from gopher tunnels. Gophers are now hard to find although there remain ground squirrels and rabbits but these guys mainly tunnel off the fairway. Sand traps are OK, thin in some spots, but overall OK. Rough is tough, they've let it grow and balls sit down and are hard to find at times. There is now a definite premium for hitting the fairway. Playing traffic is picking up but still sparse compared to Chester and Alondra. This might change when they open up all fairways to electric carts. In my opinion, VIC is hands-down a better course than Chester/Alondra. At VIC, the shot you have to play is right in front of you, you can see the target down to the green. Not so at Chester where a lot of shots/putts involve guessing because you cannot see the green surface and greens are sloped severely. I don't mind the light traffic at VIC, like having your own country club.

I have to say that they have made the effort to improve this course and it does look better than it did 3 or 4 months ago but, it's not there yet. I saw some of the redone areas dying out back to the way it was before. The fairways here are still hurting.

The tee's are ok for a muni, just wish the would open up those par 4's. How long will it take? 6months, A year? The greens are as always, Pretty good and rolling med to med fast. Bunkers, hard/no sand. Pop was good at 4.5 hrs. Price was online reduced.

Maybe it's just hard luck to redo a bunch of fairways right before a drought. Or maybe that old dump site under this course is winning the battle again.

Played Friday, March 2014 and found the course a pleasant surprise. It has been 1.5 years since we stopped playing course. We had a fast round, the greens were great, the fairways have been worked on and tees being worked on. The management is really making an effort to improve. We will come back again, quickly, before the word gets out.

Start the countdown to the next time they "redo" this course. It is still built on poisonous landfill that will bubble up and kill it again. The greens are decent and the repainted tee markers are beautiful. There are still many dead spots, including the environmental areas and some of the bridges need repair. The best part was a 3 1/2 hour round and the Golfnow $22 rate, (which they had no record of in clubhouse).

Its aaaalmost there. Not quite, as there are still 3 hole under repair as par 3s, and a handful of the par 4s have fairway sections under repair. My rating was tough on the course accordingly, as Im rating it on a par 72 scale. Greens are the one thing thats good to go on all 18, which is a good sign. Fairways need the most work of all parts of the course, and teeboxes are adequate (except the 3 under repair par 3 holes - there are literally turf mats - c'mon Victoria! you can do better than that, even if its temporary).

This course has potential under its current management with its fun little layout once its back in shape. The problem is, I dont think the course itself knows when it will be back to full health as one pro shop guy told me it'd be ready end of March, and another guy said end of April. Until then, if you dont mind a par 68 thats almost there and has a slightly discounted price, give it a shot.

Played this course Friday. Three holes are still par 3s. Course is coming along nicely.... time to jump on it and play this course. Greens are always good. Rolling med/fast. Green complexes are in good shape. Fairways are still being sodded or in the process of growing the sod. Grass seems to grab at the ball so course does play a lot longer that it used to -- little or no roll out from well struck high balls.

Tee boxes are still flat. Hard to find tee boxes for par 3s (those shortened holes) so keep a watchful eye.

Pace of play was horrible. The group we were playing with took their time. It was almost to the point of being miserable. Play faster folks. A bad shot takes the same amount of time as does a good shot. So why dwell over a bad shot?

I give this course maybe another 2 weeks and hope the weather holds so they can open of those really great golf holes. (temporary par 3s Holes 7, 11, and 13.)

As reported by wknd golfer the sodded fairways are open for play but damage is already happening. A couple of my drives landed in divots not repaired by players in these newly laid fairways. Bunkers that have sand are not being raked and pitch marks dot the greens. People who play this course lack the common courtesy to their fellow golfers giving this course a negative image.

Played early AM Friday November 15. All sodded fairways are open for play. Seeded fairways 7,11,13 remain as temporary par 3s, course plays to 35-34=69 par. They did an excellent job sodding the fairways, the paspalum sod is high quality, smooth, and nice to play off. The course is looking very good and fun to play. Tee boxes are very good, greens are excellent as always. There is hardly any play currently, getting out even early is not a problem. Victoria is in much better playing condition now. The seeded fairways may take a while with winter coming but the rest of the holes are in fine shape. The real test is how the course looks a year from now. I think the superintendent Arnie is going to do a good job as long as he gets the support he needs to address issues when they happen.

Last week when I played, aeration was starting on the greens. Had to skip a few holes as the staff was actively working on the greens. Sod had been laid on fairways 1,9,10 and 18 to complete the holes receiving new sod. On holes 7,11 and 13 the seed is coming out and you can see a faint green on the dirt. Hole 2 still has a drainage problem about 15 yards from the green leaving some of the new sod underwater. Talk is some of the fairways that received sod may open for play by mid November. Let's keep out fingers crossed.
