Course in very good shape overall and always a bargain especially for Orange County. Greens were a bit bumpy from recent punching but very playable. Greens not bad enough to blame for any lost shots.

Played today 3/15 and quit after nine holes. It took us three hours to play the front nine! As we left we told the starter and he just said "well, that's about normal for this course." It is just not fun waiting so long to hit each shot. If players would just play "ready golf" it would make playing the game a lot more fun. The marshal was driving around but we never saw him say anything to anyone. The course was in really nice shape. Greens were smooth and FAST!! If you're OK with six hour rounds it's a nice place to spend the day.

First time out to Costa Mesa in quite sometime. This is a great course to play if you like to hit your driver. The course was in pretty good shape for late summer. The greens were nice, with very few ball marks. I teed off at about 11:30, so the pace of play was about 5 1/2 hours.

Played last week at 7:30 AM, completed the course in 4 hrs 10 mins and my group was told twice in the first five holes to speed up! So if the pace of play here is normally too slow for you, play early on a weekday and get ready to move fast. That said, the condition of the course isn't very good, bare spots in the fairways, sandy spots on the tees, and few of the tees are level. I played this course a lot twenty years ago, and I was surprised that there are now far fewer trees, as many have been allowed to die, and few if any have been replanted. Greens were lush but slow. Fairway sand traps have shrunken due to poor or inattentive maintenance--the two traps on the right side of the fifth fairway were once yawning obstacles, now they aren't much larger than a child's play pen. This course is a great layout that has suffered from many many years of poor maintenance. It has a good variety of holes, and the par 3's are especially strong. It's just too bad the city has used it for a cash cow, and put so little back into what was once an excellent test.

Overall the course is in good shape, especialy for January. They are renovating holes 11 and 12, so there are temp tee boxes for those holes right now.

I laugh when I see all the reviews that complain about slow play at costa mesa. I have been playing here for a long time and it is always over 5 hours and 6 on the weekends. Course is in pretty good shape, the greens are nice and rolling well. It is what it is at this course. Don't expect TPC conditions and be ready to have a long game. Still one of the best deals in the OC.

Tee time of 10:40 - didn't actually hit a golf ball until 11 - and finished 5.5 hours later! S L O W

We waited at every tee all day long. I knew going in it would be slow, no surprises there. Greens were okay, they are due for an aeration as a few are really hard right now.

I always enjoy Costa Mesa, even if it does take almost 6 hours to play. For $55 it's the best deal around in my opinion. (Wish I had a dollar for every time I heard "FOUR" today)

Played a few weeks ago on a Saturday and had a very bad day. I got to the course early to get in some practice and the guy in the pro shop had a big attitude problem. I asked if I could pay for my green fee, cart, and range balls all at one time and he snapped at me that they don't do it that way and that I should be patient and come back just before my tee time. That was fine but all I did was ask. These guys seem to have free reign behind the counter and I wonder who they answer to.

The golf course was in decent shape. Greens were above average for the price but fairways seemed a little rough. It was a very busy day and took almost 6 hours to finish my round.
