Played Thursday, 1/16, in a Weekday Team Play match. Excellent service at all levels although we only saw the drink cart once in our round. POP was lousy, at least five hours. My match went all 18 holes so that may have contributed to the slow pace.

The course was in good shape for January. I was in a couple of bare spots in the fairways. The rough was cut low in most spots but there were a couple of places we had to look for balls. The sand traps on the front nine were lousy, wet dirt. The greens were really good.Fast and true. Not quite as fast as the practice green but very nice speed. We were playing the white plates and they were not the best spots on the tee boxes. Overall, good condition and the greens were worth the price of admission.

Its been years since I last played here but I hope to get back soon.

Played Thursday morning teeing off about 7:15 finishing in 4 hours. The greens were in good conditions. They rolled mostly smooth, with medium/fast speed, and held shots. The fairways have mostly dried out from the previous week of heavy rains. There were a few soft areas scattered throughout but had minimal affect on play. The rough has mostly good coverage with a few thin/bare spots. The length was long enough to affect shots but not too penal. The bunkers appeared to be in good condition (not in any) and my playing partners had no complaints. The tee boxes had good coverage. Overall the course is recovering well from the rains minus a couple fallen trees that were cut up and being removed. Lagos is an enjoyable track with some nice variety. The staff was friendly.

Played Wednesday teeing off just after 7am finishing in 4:15. The most common complaint I read about this course is the length of play. Typically if I tee off in the first hourish of light I finish between 4-4:20 hours on a weekday. I do enjoy the layout of the course. It provides good challenge with some variety in hole shape, length, and rolling terrain. Water does come into play on a few holes as well.

The greens were running medium/fast, mostly smooth, and held shots. Although I did repair quit a few unrepaired ball marks. The fairways have good winter coverage with a few thin/bare spots. The rough has mostly good coverage with some thin/bare spots. The length was mildly to moderately penal. I was not in any bunkers but they appeared well groomed and my playing partners did not seem to have any difficultly with them. The tee boxes have decent coverage.

Started the New Year at Los Lagos, wanting to get some swings in before the GK/GM outing at The Huntington next week. I was hoping that the general populace would be sleeping late after the New Years Eve parties last night, but the lot was full and both tees were stacked up. My 11:36am start time wound up being more like noon, and we waited on every shot. We had sunny, warm weather with a light breeze off the ocean.

Conditions were OK for CMCC. We’ve had a little rain recently and the course was playing no fairways/rough only. Not as bad as cart path only, but what resulted was that the rough areas were badly rutted by carts and squishy muddy. Lots of bare mud areas and standing water. And as you get wider into the treeline the obvious root/gopher problems are more evident.

Tees are set very wide here so easy to find a good place to hit. Fairways were pretty perfect as you can imagine. The general dampness, and lack of a mowing for a couple days, resulted in a lot of mudballs in the fairways and little roll-out. I wasn’t in any sand. Greens were in very good shape but rolled fairly slow.

Carts are very basic. No GPS or yardage posts – you have to look closely for the 100/150/200 markers set in the fairways. After struggling through the front nine in 2.5+hours I decided to bail on the back nine.

Recommended for a casual round with decent conditions, but expect a slow round.

Played Friday teeing off just short of 7am finishing in 4:10. Aside from a few unrepaired ball marks the greens were in great condition. They rolled medium/fast speed, smooth, and held shots. The fairways mostly have good coverage with some thin/bare spots. The fairways also provided decent rollout on tee shots. The rough has mostly good coverage with some thin/bare mostly around the trees. The length is long enough to affect shots but not too penal. The bunkers were well groomed with a reasonable amount of sand. The tee boxes have good coverage for the most part and the tee markers are always set to the width of the tee box. Pick your angle off the tee.

The Lagos course has an enjoyable layout with some rolling terrain. The practice facilities are nice. The driving range is large with an option of mats or grass (grass $2-$3 more per bucket). There are two practice putting greens and a chipping green. The staff was friendly.

Played here today with a 1:15 TeeOff.com "Deal" time for a great price of about $35 with cart. Took my chances on a 6-hour round to play close to home and for a great rate, and it paid off. POP wasn't too bad for a weekend out here, about 4:45 total. Paired with another single and a twosome. I hadn't played here in just over 5 years and they seemingly added a Clown College next door in that time, with train whistles and horns sounding on a nearly non-stop basis much of the day. (In reality, it looks like they added some sort of kiddie train to the adjacent park, but it really is loud.) Estancia HS also had some sort of sporting event happening that had fans cheering and shouting all afternoon.

Conditions are good and could be even better. Greens are great; smooth, medium-fast, and very accepting of full shots. Fairways have great coverage but definitely weren't mowed today and I sorta doubt they were mowed yesterday, either. Pretty sure I've played courses this year with rough shorter than today's fairways. If they were mowed, they'd be excellent. As is, they were still good but all shots stopped quickly after landing. Rough was longer than the fairways, but still not quite penal. Blue tee boxes were in nice shape with the markers edge to edge on each box, giving tons of options to tee it up. I was in two bunkers and they were both similar: a thin layer of good sand on top of a pretty solid, mud-like base.

Definitely recommended!

Teed off Wednesday morning about 7am finishing in 4:15. The greens showed very little signs of aeration. They rolled smooth with medium speed and held shots. Typically when I play here the greens run medium/fast. The fairways had good coverage overall but not much roll-out on tee shots. The only thin/bare spots tended to be around the cart path endings and concrete water gutters. The rough had mostly good coverage and was long enough to affect shots but not overly penal. The bunkers played good with plenty of sand. They were also well maintained other than lazy golfer footprints. The tee boxes had good coverage and are reasonably level. Always enjoy playing the Lagos course. It has a nice variety of holes and some rolling terrain. Grass and matt driving range, chipping green, and two putting greens are available for practice. The staff was friendly.

Golfed here on Sunday, 4/23. 10:07 tee time with our golf club. Took 5 hours but was expected so no big deal. Course is in good shape. Greens recovering well from being punched. They all rolled acceptably well. The rough here was not as penal as most courses right now. I would recommend playing here in its current condition. Conditions will only continue to improve just like all the other courses that recently punched.

Teed off Thursday about 7:25 finishing in 4:05. The greens were in very good condition, aside from a few unrepaired ball marks. They rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. Down hill putts could really roll out if not careful. The fairways had pretty good coverage with some thin/bare spots and decent roll out on tee shots. The rough was mostly good with some thin/bare areas. The length was long enough to affect shots but not too penal. I was not in any bunkers but they appeared to be in decent shape. None of my playing partners had any complaints on bunker conditions. The tee boxes had mostly good coverage. Although the tee boxes can be slightly unlevel in areas the tee markers are set to the width of the box so finding a flat spot isn't difficult. I enjoy the layout of the Lagos course as it provides a decent challenge with some variety. Water comes into play on several holes. Good practice facilities with a large driving on mats or grass for a couple bucks more per bucket. There is also two putting greens and a chipping green. The staff was friendly.
