Played here on Monday 1/11 with a 7:40 tee time. Paid $51 to ride which is about what this track is worth. Got out about 5 minutes late due the tee box being mowed. Checkin was quick and easy. Range and putting green was open.
Played the whites and the tee boxes were in very good shape ,good coverage and most very level.
The fairways are good for winter conditions. Most have very good coverage but there are some brown/dry spots. The rough is cut very short mostly only about 1 inch.
Bunkers have good sand and being one of the first groups they were still well groomed but still no rakes.
The first couple of greens were a little damp and slow but as things warmed up they ran medium quick and smooth. Very few ball marks to deal with. Seems like players here are doing a good job repairing them.
Pace was 4:10 even though we waited on a few holes. No cart service but the snack bars at the turn and at 15 are open. Did see a few groups sitting at the tables outside of the clubhouse when I left. They seemed to be very busy when I left with two courses here the parking lot was jammed.
I enjoy this track. The layout suits my game and offers enough variety to be interesting without any tricked out/blind holes.

By far the best part of the course and well worth the 52 walking rate on a weekend. Fairways thin and wet but decent lies. Rough was in good shape and had some deep spots. Bunkers were unraked but had good amount of sand and damp so good to hit out of. Other than the really slow pace, always, course in good overall shape and well worth the fee

Let me start by saying that I live less than a mile from this course yet I never choose to play here. The reason why that is the case is due to the amount of people they stack on the course. POP is a major issue here and the marshals dont care at all. Rob talked me into playing on Sat and we snagged a last minuet 9:30 tee time right after the mens club. Being that it was the only tee time before noon in orange county that wasnt $150 I reluctantly booked it knowing that it was going to be a long day. With cart the round was the rack weekend rate of $67 which IMO is not that bad considering where you are but id much rather play in the IE. We got off about 10 minuets late because I think the starter snuck in some womens club members in from of us but that did not matter. We waited on every shot all round and there is no way that they could have changed it. Los Lagos starts with back to back par 5's and a long par 4. After those hole it always backs up the par 3 4th and on this day there was a total of 5 groups on the hole!!!!!!! It took about 20 minuets between holes to play 4 and 5. After waiting around and failing to get a rhythm and stay loose the final POP was 5 hours and 35 minuets. As for the conditions they were average at best with the greens being the highlight. They were just soft enough to receive shots and ran rather quick. The Pin locations today were very tough as well due to the men's club having their sweeps. Fairways had decent coverage with multiple types of grass that extends to the rough as well just cut a little shorter of course. Sand was ok but you could tell hadnt been raked in days and it was wet from the morning dew. Overall if you are really jonzing for a round of golf and you cant find any good deals then this place it fine but if its a weekend you must factor in that its going to be a looooong day. Luckily they have usb ports on the carts so you can charge your phone while waiting on every shot. Also it says 4.7 but id put the conditions in the 5-6 range.

Was very thankful with how difficult it is getting any good tee times right now that Matty P secured a 9:30 foursome at Costa Mesa CC this past Saturday and was kind enough to let me and a friend tag along. We played the Los Lagos 18 with carts from the blue tees.

It was just my second-ever time to this course and second time playing this 18 instead of the Mesa Linda course. I was very much looking forward to the challenge of this track which, to me at least, plays much longer than its 6500 yards on the scorecard.

Conditions were pretty good across the board. Greens were deceptively fast and it was very difficult to harness the speeds all day for me. I was either very long or very short most of the day which was frustrating. Found mostly good lies in the fairways all day with some thin areas for sure, and some sticky rough along the fairways and near the greens. Bunkers were avoided all day but looked a little hard from my perspective.

The worst part of the day? The POP was dreadful. The course opens with back-to-back par 5s so that already puts a clamp on things with the waiting for greens to clear for the ambitious sort, but then we got to the par 3 4th hole and were three groups deep waiting around for 10-12 minutes at least. This pretty much carried on throughout the day and no marshall or cart service was around at any point to help improve things. I think we finished up in just under six hours. I love golf. I really do. But that's really pushing my love. You get no rhythm and just lose all sense of wanting to be there. Hopefully that improves.

Snack shop at the turn is open and there is also a bar area where people were eating inside and we could have a beer after the round. Mask restriction signs are all over this area but I would say it was about 50/50 with people paying any attention to it.

Still, it was a fun day with very good company and despite a poor round (with the exception of a great birdie on the 15th hole), I'm glad I had a chance to get back to CMCC. The next time though I'll have to tackle the other course to see what that's all about.

I enjoyed an early morning round today with Ringworld. I frequently play Mesa Linda but hadn’t played Los Lagos for about 10 years. Wanting a change of scenery and a good walking course, I decided to give it a try. The weather was overcast and cool. There were very few people out that early. After a fast and friendly check in we teed off on time at 7am, paired with another twosome.

Other than a few overly wet spots, the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape- green and lush. The rough was short and even. I was in a couple of bunkers, both of which were very damp but playable. The greens were very nice- soft, rolled medium speed , and had few marks.

The layout is nice with wide fairways and enough trees to be attractive but not trouble-making. At 5925 yards from the forward tees, though, this course is just too long for me to score well. There was little hope of reaching the par 3s in one without using my driver, which does reduce the fun factor a bit.

POP was great. We never waited and there was no one behind us. I recommend this course for others but I will stick to playing Mesa Linda.

I played here 8/13 after reading some positive reviews here. I had never played here and was pleasantly surprised with the conditions and the old school layout.

Not much to add to the last review other than to say that the fairways are very green and great to hit from. Not much roll out because of the kikuyu and the rough is just long enough to grab the club.
The par 3’s here have some teeth with several of them close to 200 yards from the white tees.
Had a 7:25 tee time and got off right on time and finished in just under 4 hours. When i left the place was packed with people on the range and the practice green.
Overall I enjoyed the round and plan on playing here again next week.

Teed off Wednesday at 7:05 and finished in 4 hours. The putting green was open with a maximum of 6 people at a time. The driving range is open. The course website asks that if you want to hit balls before your round show up 30 minutes before your tee time.

The course conditions are holding up well from my last review six weeks ago. The greens (aside from some unrepaired ball marks) rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways had good coverage. The rough was good with a few thin/bare spots and not to penal. The bunkers had playable sand although a bit wet in spots. The tee boxes are fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness. The staff was very friendly.

Teed off Monday at 6:40 finishing in 4 hours. Prior reviews have it right. The Costa Mesa CC has done a great job keeping the course up during the closure. The greens had been verticut but putted smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways had good coverage with a few thin spots but had good lies all day. The rough was good and cut to a playable height. The bunkers had good sand but of course without rakes there were many foot prints. The sand was easy to smooth a spot with my foot then drop my ball and play from the sand. The tee boxes had good coverage with only mild unlevelness. Masks worn in common areas only. Check in was at a window to the pro shop. Waiver had to be signed which can be printed from the website. Staff was Friendly.

Have to agree with the previous review, that Los Lagos in in the best condition I have seen it. A pleasure to play. It would be nice be some how they could maintain these conditions. Greens rolled really well and the fairways are well maintained and lush. In fact the entire course is just a joy to play.

Efficient check in with strict covid-19 restrictions enforced, but nice that masks are not required on the course. A little on the pricey side, but the course conditions somewhat make up for it.
